I don't think men and women should be "one on one" buddies when either is in a monogomous relationship.

I know I'm in the minority on this one based on previous posts

But yes, I would HATE to know that my SO was going out with a woman one on one. Long distance or not. Complete trust or not. Why even put yourself in that sitaution. I get that you are isolated and are just looking for friends.....but I think that's a recipe for disaster when you find that companionship in a male.

Hehe...that made me think of the episode of Big Bang Theory where Sheldon's out to get Wil Wheaton and names the bowling team "The Wesley Crushers" intending to make it sound like they'd crush Wesley, when in fact it looked like a tribute more than anything

As much of a nerd as I am, I never really got into Star Trek (probably because my grandma tried to force it on me while withholding Disney movies when I was about 5)...my guy is trying to change that though...

His favorite is apparently DS 9...I think my grandma had me watching Voyager and TNG...I'll have to see if I can find a few of the series online to watch...with summer vacation officially starting August 3rd and no one to hang out with, I might as well...I should really finish BSG while I'm at it too...

Voyager is definitely where its at.

I'm trying to convince the fiancé to watch battle star galactica. The las series we watched was FullMetal Alchemist and he loved it. If BSG doesn't pan out, I have an anime called Gunslinger girl about pre-teen girls trained as assassins who are kept like attack dogs by adult male "handlers" - it's very unsettling.

TNG is amazing. Ensign Ro is my idol hero!

I read the first few books of Gunslinger Girl while I was waiting for a panel at a convention once...weird, but it had pretty art. Before my guy headed off to boot camp, we were making our way through Cowboy Bebop. No one ever believes me when I tell them, but considering that I was a Japanese major and live in Japan, I haven't actually seen that much anime. My guy is more of a chemistry/sci-fi geek, but he was absolutely appalled when I told him I'd never seen Cowboy Bebop...so he ran to his car, came back with the complete series, sat on the couch, pulled me onto his lap, and told me that I wasn't moving until we'd finished the first disk. And I didn't. And it was awesome. I <3 Ein.

I think to keep telling your boyfriend and asking his take on the situation must be a little weird for him. Switch the situation around. He tells you he went for a hike and a swim with a girl under a waterfall -- and she tried to kiss him -- but he pulled away. I'd imagine you'd be thinking what was he doing in that situation in the first place.

not that it's necessarily that big a whoop, but I think it can help to look at what happened honestly

Put the shoe on the other foot. What or how would you feel if your boyfriend had a girl-friend that he did all sorts of things with. Told you about her. Bet you wouldnt like it, right? So, your BF was probably hurt that you were out on a date with this guy. That is what it was, a date.

I disagree with this. A male and a female hanging out together does not automatically make a date. If the OP was there on a friendship basis only, and did not consider it a date, then it wasn't a date.

The important person here isn't the boyfriend, it's the OP. The friend was creepy and refused to respect her boundaries or her requests for a non-sexual relationship. That is far more important than what her boyfriend might think.

(Of course, her boyfriend's opinion will be important to the OP, but that isnt the only thing she or we should be caring about.)
