A little vulnerable feeling after getting excited about sharing

I saw your links and it looked interesting to me. There were just no copies available to order. I would have read excerpts but didn't see if offered in the links. Don't feel vulnerable, feel accomplished, you are a published author! :)

Haha, I couldn't have read this book at a worse time. Might be why I'm having such a hard time dealing with it. =/

My Barry Manilow fanfiction is totally better than these books! :P

Seriously, though, the "my inner goddess" crap got unbearable near the end of the first novel, so I quickly finished it and read "The Fault in Our Stars" by John Green. Twice. Read that instead. It's not erotica, but it's amazing.

That's an insult to chick flicks. :p

The radio show I listen to aired a preview/clip of the audiobook, and the actress sounds like a young teenager. Listening to that short 2 minute clip was AWFUL. The horrible grammar absolutely killed me.

These books are all over facebook, my co-workers are talking about it and pretty much everyone else I know has jumped on the bandwagon. I have not read it yet and only ever heard it described as "mommy porn".

I did however enjoy the Twilight saga and was able to easily read through it (well still rolling my eyes at some of the very stupid parts and bad writing). Maybe thats a sign I will be able to put up with this authors style of writing as well? But, I also I have like 4 others series I am in the middle of (J.R Ward's Brotherhood, Sherrilyn Kenyon Dark Hunters, and Christine Feehan's series, all which are amazing!). By the time I get a chance to read this series, I'm sure the movie will be out!!

mimsyborogoves 07-25-2012 04:44 PM

I heard today they're making a movie out of this... I smell a blog entry coming up for me, lol.

Read some excerpts today and LOLed a lot

I have a couple of friends who've raved about the 50SoG books and constantly tell me "oh you'd LOVVVVVEEEEE them!!!" - but then I have some other friends (whose opinions on books, music, movies, etc. I trust MUCH MORE) who've told me "eh, don't bother"...

I've read some excerpts. I have to say, my PERSONAL OPINION is ... these women who are swooning over these books .... quite obviously they have NEVER engaged in a threesome...or gotten a simple spanking or some light bondage... never had even a timid affair or gotten a little happy from a big vibrator! OR kissed a girl...

I mean, the books are so "light weight"... very.... VANILLA, if you will.

Just say'n! http://forums.49ers.com/messageboard...-whistle-2.gif

I think I may be one of the very few women on this planet who has no desire to read these books. However, with that being said, I also have no desire to see Magic Mike. It's not that I don't like raunchy dirty sex, but I can't get into literature with it. Just seems to me like one step up from every cheap romance novel ever written. Kudos to other people being able to enjoy it though. I've also heard there's some really twisted sex in it, like wrapping boobs until they're purple, which is disgusting.

Smiling_Sara 07-27-2012 05:28 PM

I just finished the first book, and I must say, the ending of the first book left me feeling pretty disgusted. :(

That being said, I will probably read the next one and hope it gets better, or explains a little more as to the reasoning of what happened at the end of book 1

pnkrckpixikat 07-27-2012 07:32 PM

I've read the first book and part of the second. I'll likely eventually finish book 2 and read book 3 eventually. The sex gets boring and repetitive to the point i skip it half the time. I also don't find it believable they are both up for sex so often, I'm sorry my bits would be SORE.

It makes sense that she wrote twilight fanfic prior to this as both me and my friend spent all our time reading texting comparisons to each other between FSoG drivel and Myers drivel.

I was just talking about this thread with my boyfriend and about how I know I wouldn't be into them and he pulled up this video, it's the guy who voiced Duke Nukem, it's hilarious.

Although I had seen this book lingering around and being talked about online, I had no clue until today what it was even about. I am a huge reader.. I always have a book within arms reach. I know now though after talking with someone about it and now reading this thread that I'm completely uninterested! Not my type of reading material that's for sure!

nelie 07-28-2012 10:22 AM

Most friends that I know that are heavy readers and read romance type novels have commented on facebook that these are definitely not books they'd recommend. I don't know what books they would recommend but I heard they were pretty bad and after enduring a couple of the Twilight books, I'll not put myself through reading a bad book for a while.

CanadianCutie 07-28-2012 03:05 PM

Nelie, I'm totally with you on the Twilight thing. I read the first book, got about 1/3 of the way through the second one and just couldn't take it anymore. I even tried the audiobooks, but the way the voice actor/reader said Bella, just drove me bonkers. The 50 Shades books were actually better written than Twilight, though still badly written.
