What Are You Reading JULY 2012

Hey Ladies! ( and men )

Another Month has rolled around. Please share what you are reading so we can add to our never ending lists of what to read. :)

In the Summer months, I read lots more too!!

Smiling_Sara 07-01-2012 01:41 PM

Right now I'm about half way through My Fair Lazy

I like her earlier books better, but it's still worth the read.

And who is she ?

98DaysOfSummer 07-01-2012 02:34 PM

Jen Lancaster.

I'm a little behind - I think she has a new book that I totally missed. Skipped her work of fiction. She is TERRIBLE at recreating dialogue so I assumed a whole book of fiction would be painful. I love her blog and follow her on facebook.

I have a ton of holds at the library right now but I can't even tell you what they are as the website is down. I'll just have to wait till tomorrow and see what's there. I think one of them is Mennonite in a Little Black Dress. I've been eyeing it for ages and just finally got around to putting it on my list.

lovemydoggiesx2 07-01-2012 02:53 PM

Last night I sleepily crawled into bed at an early 8:30 and popped open my e-book and started a book called The Things That Keep us Here by Carla Buckley. I didnīt even realize I read the entire book, until I closed it, and looked at the clock saying 4am! Wow, I havenīt read a page turner like that in a while. Itīs from 2010, and I highly recommend it.

CanadianCutie 07-01-2012 03:02 PM

I'm still working my way through 50 Shades of Grey: Freed. I hope to finish it today, not sure what I'm going to be reading next.

Katbot24 07-01-2012 10:08 PM

Cracked open a copy of the complete Sherlock Holmes I got 3 years ago but never had time to read.

Brid 07-02-2012 05:50 AM

I'm reading Figments of Reality, by Ian Stewart and Jack Cohen. I've read it before, and am rereading now because I actually want to read Evolving the Alien by the same authors but I've lent it to someone else.

electrongirl 07-02-2012 04:36 PM

Just finished The Great Gatsby :(

Now reading 11/23/63 - Stephen King

themusicalfruit 07-02-2012 11:28 PM

I loved Memmonite in a Little Black Dress! I just finished reading Jen Lancaster's latest "Jeneration X" and it was just okay.

lovemydoggiesx2 07-03-2012 09:55 AM

FrouFrou 07-04-2012 05:45 PM

1st to Die...James Patterson

zoritsa 07-04-2012 08:04 PM

Just started: Under the Dome by Stephen King.My husband bought it for me when it first came out...and I'm just getting into it now, lol.

ChickieChicks 07-04-2012 08:16 PM

I finished the Fifty Shades of Grey series. Yesterday I read Miss Peregrine's School for Peculiar Children. It was good, I couldn't stop!

I started Wicked today.

Ps. I go on wild reading sprees, and now is one of them. I don't always have the time to sit and read all day, but if I could, I would!!

Smiling_Sara 07-07-2012 05:31 PM

Going to start 50 shades of Grey!!

Noooo! Don't do it!

Seriously though, I think I am the only person on the planet who hated those books!

archychick 07-07-2012 06:08 PM

electrongirl: From the little I've read of the book itself and what I've heard it's no Literotica. lol

I am reading Death: A Life by George Pendle. It's a biography about Death and how he came to be and his life. It is very well written and hilarious! However, it's taken me a year to read it! lol

I read the first 2 and had to stop. I found them annoying and repetitive. The inner goddess stuff did it for me. They were awful!

haha, you are not the only one I heard this from.

I just GOTTA see what all the fuss is about.

oksoitsjen 07-08-2012 11:36 AM

Currently, 50 Shades of Grey. Then finishing the Hunger Games trilogy with Catching fire. BUT my local 2nd and Charles had a buy 5 books get 5 free, so I now I have 20 "new-to-me" books. Thinking about starting an Emily Griffin series.

FrouFrou 07-11-2012 10:52 PM

Finally finished 1st to Die and started The Road by Cormac McCarthy last night.

CanadianCutie 07-12-2012 07:47 AM

Finally finished Fifty Shades series a couple days ago, now I'm back to Damage, a crime/police novel that I was reading a few months ago, but kind of let fall to the wayside.

Steph7409 07-12-2012 10:01 AM

I just read Gone Girl and loved it. I could barely put it down.

The Road - {shudder}. It made me think I'd rather die in the first wave of whatever it is that ends civilization.

COchick 07-12-2012 11:16 AM

Wonder Boys by Michael Chabon.

FrouFrou 07-12-2012 08:02 PM

Steph...my sister pushed the book on me, lol. She tried to give it to my mother and told her what it was about and my mother said I don't want it if they are going to die! She (sister) said but you'll like it! then asked me if I read, lol and told me to take it....she is just like my mother making you take stuff! Thought I would read it...something different from the norm. We will see!

themusicalfruit 07-13-2012 12:54 AM

Now reading Why We Broke Up by Daniel Handler

tjhenry07 07-15-2012 12:50 PM

I am reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot and it is so fascinating.

Coldsoup 07-15-2012 02:13 PM

Right now I've got 2 books going. The disappearing Spoon by Sam Kean is about the history of the periodic table and the discovery of the elements. I highly recommend this if you are at all into sciencey stuff. Last night I started reading The Good Guy by Dean Koontz. I love his stuff books and they are usually a quick read.

Ladybug10 07-20-2012 12:26 PM

My boyfriend recently bought me The Art of Hearing Heartbeats by Jan-Philipp Sendker this past week. It is a very good book and I'm not even half-way through yet. Highly recommend. :D

audri8301 07-20-2012 01:39 PM

I'm working my way through A Clash of Kings. I really like watching Game of Thrones on HBO, but the books are taking me forever to get through for some reason. As it turns out that might not be such a problem because the series is still unfinished and from what I hear George R. R. Martin takes forever to finish a book.

These were all AMAZING!!!! I can't wait to start them all over again!

I loved Wicked, but didn't really want to get sucked into the whole series, so i read Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister. Also very good!

As per a suggestion on here, I read Skinny *****. Whoa...so not for me. I actually couldn't finish it, because my self-esteem isn't so low that I can taker some self-righteous biotches yelling at me about stuff they really don't know about. BIZARRE, to say the least...

So on to another 3FC reader suggestion...The Outlander Series Book 1. :carrot:

LockItUp 07-20-2012 09:13 PM

I just started Digital Fortress by Dan Brown, having just finished Deception Point by Dan Brown (loved Angels and Demons, and The DaVinci Code). I've had all of these books forever, and just borrowed his most recent book book, The Lost Symbol, to read after Digital Fortress. None of them are really new (the most recent 2009). But I do like his writing style, the suspense, and conspiracies.

I've read all Dan Brown's novels. I enjoyed Deception Point and Angels and Demons most of all.

mystyblue85 07-22-2012 05:51 PM

Im finishing book 7 of the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. I love it!
ive read 11/22/63 and under the dome, both were AWESOME books!

and next im going on to "of mice and men" and "the grapes of wrath" by steinbeck. then ive got to read "the road" because ive heard great things about it

CanadianCutie 07-22-2012 10:40 PM

I just started The Road by Cormac McCarthy. I've had my copy for at least a year, but didn't get around to it yet.

I'm rereading Game of Thrones atm...I read it earlier this year, but don't own any of the other books. I'm thinking of buying an ereader because it's so hard to find books in English in Japan (I COULD read Japanese books, but it takes me forever @_@ ). Does anyone have any reviews for the Kindle Fire?

LadyPetite 07-23-2012 07:45 AM

I'm halfway through Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. I know, I'm pretty late to the party. But it's never to late to become a Potterhead :)

gardenerjoy 07-23-2012 10:34 AM

I'm reading Searching for Whitopia by Rich Benjamin for my book club meeting on Thursday (I'm on track to finish, but I need to keep up with it).

For my lunch time reading, I usually read a book that supports my healthy lifestyle (but ChickieChicks, I couldn't handle Skinny ***** either). My current choice is unusual, but it is helping me think more creatively about how I spend my time: The 4-Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferriss.

And, on my phone, I have an e-book called The Bro-Magnet by Lauren Baratz-Logsted which is fun. Not exactly a romance, but there is a romance in it.
