Well that is frustrating. I bought a new pedometer this past weekend. i wanted to see how many steps I took in a day and how hard it would be to get to 10,000. Yesterday I laid on my bed to read my book, and cleared out the thing. I went on a picnic with a friend and the kiddos today, and laid down again to play with her 1 year old, and again cleared it out. Grrrrrr
I feel your pain. Last week my new pedometer arrived and I loved it. I clipped it to my waistband and like you I was watching it to see how close I could get to 10,000 steps. On day 3 while I was a work I went to the bathroom and heard a splash as I was unbuttoning my pants. Yup, my new pedometer landed in the toilet!

LOL I did that once with my Blackberry! Lets say after many times that stupid phone was thrown around, dropped the water finally (not fully but mostly) killed it. Never leave things strapped to your belt or in your back pocket cause the toilet will eat it!
I've actually had the best luck with the $3-$5 ones from Walmart, Target, Farm & Fleet (or Fleetfarm).
Sadly (perhaps just my bad luck) the more expensive ones I've owned have had weaker clips, and they've fallen off only to be lost.
When I clipped them to my waist, the cheaper ones reset accidentally, but I've never had that problem when it's been clipped to my shoe. I originally bought the cheap ones because I was sick of losing my more expensive ones, and I figured if I'm going to lose them anyway, I'd rather lose $3-$5 than $10-$15.
And while I've lost several expensive pedometers, I've only lost one cheap one (and that was before learning to clip them onto my shoe).
