I had novacaine when I was 26 with the 2 top pulled at once, and 4 weeks later the 2 bottom. I was fine. My daughter, at 20, had 4 pulled under general anesthesia, and she was not so fine. The anesthesia takes some getting over. Also, the swelling for her showed up about 2 days later and was bad. Pain killers help...alot. Sleep, if you can, helps too. Good luck.

Novocaine/gas. In the office. I was 28, I think.

The fear beforehand was the worst part. The procedure itself and the recovery, not so much.

I had a number of teeth removed in my teens (I had a lot of crowding). Only one was a wisdom tooth, and that was very easy - I went into work a few hours later without a problem. Even the the procedure to remove the tooth that had fused with my jawbone and had to be cut in half and cut away from the bone went fine. I was awake for all procedures and totally comfortable, and the recovery was smooth and not very painful at all.

My husband had all four of his wisdom teeth out in his mid-20s, and his extractions also went fine. The only complication was one dry socket; we knew there was a problem because that extraction site was VERY painful while the other extraction sites felt fine.

If you feel a LOT of pain in one or more of the extraction sites, just get back to your dentist/oral surgeon for care. They'll pack it for you, and the pain will ease greatly. With the possible exception of getting a dry socket though, you'll really be ok following the procedure.

I got all of mine out at once and it wasn't bad at all. They came out whole, but I was put under.. mostly because I didn't want to hear the sound of teeth being pulled out and I'm pretty uneasy at the dentist for some reason. My oral surgeon decided to keep them for me and hand them to me once I woke up from anasthesia - eww!

But afterwards, I didn't find the pain too bad at all. I was eating very very very mashed potatoes on day 3 or so, and I only took 1 T3 out of the prescription I got, regular tylenol worked fine for me.

Had two pulled a few years ago, not at the same time. Not bad at all even though I am scared to death of the dentist! Still have 2.

I had 3, early 20s. I did get anesthesia, can't remember what it was now, but I didn't feel anything. they told me I needed to wait in recovery, but after a few minutes I got bored and wanted to go home (my parents came with me to drive me home). I remember healing pretty quickly.

I had all 4 of mine removed. I was put to sleep, it wasn't bad at all. I didn't smoke for 48 hours like I was told. But my bottom teeth were impacted and I ended up with dry sockets anyways. All I can say is use that gauze! Don't suck on anything, not even a little. The extraction was fine, the healing was fine until the dry sockets came and once that happened I was ready to roll over and die. Vicodin every 4 hours between 1000 mg of Ibuprofen every 4 hours helped for about 30 minutes.

If it weren't for the dry socket part, I'd say it was fine. It was my first time being put asleep or whatever. Not bad at all.

I was 30 when I had 3 pulled and one cut out. They knocked me out, so the procedure was fine, but I was in a lot of pain for the first few days. The one they cut out was the worst. The others didn't hurt nearly as bad. I healed up fine, though.

I had mine out in my mid 20's. I was supposed to be put under and had some laughing gas to help with that but I FREAKED out. My dr was not very happy and told me if I didn't have them out then, I'd never come back. He was probably right. Begrudgingly, he offered me the option of novacaine only. Anyways, he shot me full of novacaine The actual extraction was SUPER quick and easy. I hardly remember the recovery. I had no problems and did not need the strong pain medications.

I had mine removed at 27. They never erupted. I opted to be put under general. I only had the top two--it's common in my family to not have all of them--and the roots were up in my sinus'. Aside from some jaw pain, it wasn't too bad.

I didn't like the pain killers the oral surgeon gave me, so I ended up taking ibuprofen and icing for the pain.

As a bonus, I haven't had a sinus infection since I had them removed (7 years ago.) That right there, makes it so worth it!

Just wanted to update. I just got them pulled this afternoon. It went very well and I had Novocaine only. 3 of them came of no problem and one had split roots, so they broke the tooth to get it out. That one took a little longer than the rest. All-in-all things went great! I couldn't speak by the time they were done because my mouth was so numb.

So now starts the healing process. Sugar free jello and pudding, homemade broth, and protein shakes. Yum.

You sound like me almost two weeks ago...pudding, soup and jello for almost a week!

I'm healing great so far. My body tends to heal slightly faster than normal.

I had 4 of my wisdom teeth just pulled out on Friday. It hurts like crazy right now but it gets a little better everyday. I only took Monday off work and am back. You should be fine. Just take your meds and get some rest. I'm only eating soft foods still. I was lucky because my extraction was easy according to the dentist.
