I think she must feel very confused and conflicted and hurt.
None of which is your fault! but I can imagine that if you suddenly went from lunching together daily to not, then she must wonder if it's you wanting to cut the friendship.
You have no obligation to stay unhealthy, just to maintain the friendship, and I think you did the right thing by trying to get it out in the open.

I don't think she's jealous, I think she feels she's lost a friend; that maybe because you're changing your weight it means you have an issue with her weight. I remember when the the last of my girl friends got married - of course I was happy for her but that meant everybody I knew had got into the club that I wasn't a member of and the door was shut with me on the outside. 30 years on, I'm still on the outside of that door. I'm fine with who I am now but I remember how awful the pain of abandonment was.

Maybe for her, now that you've moved - entirely rightly! - into the losing-weight-for-my-health category, she feels left behind. She knows she should do it, she's not ready to do it, she probably goes home and eats a giant pizza and a cake because she feels so bad about herself.

I don't think she's being mean, just hurt. On the other hand, it's neither your fault nor your responsibility. You've tried to get it out in the open; you're going to have one more go, with specific reference to weightloss - you've done everything right; however sorry you might be for her, if she won't let the relationship be repaired you will have to move on from it.

And well done on your 19lb!!!!! :carrot:

I'd say she's embarrassed.

She's seeing what you're saying/doing about weight loss and now she feels hurts and betrayed...she's probably wondering "well what does she think about how I look? How I eat?"
