Default To Buy or Not to Buy ..gifts?!?

What do you do if someone buys you a Christmas gift and you don't buy them anything?
It's a little obvious if you go out and buy them a gift after they've given you one. Should I just send them a thank you card? What's the right thing to do? Should I feel guilty for not buying them one too?? HELP!!

Angry That is a tough one!

I usually have a few things around for times like that...I usually put some nicely wrapped baking in a gift bag with a tree ornament on a bag or a candle or something small. If it is someone that I do not want to give a gift to I just thank them.

Just think of it this way...the idea of giving a gift isn't because you want/expect one in return. I say just write a nice thank you card and let them know how much you appreciated it.

What if you KNOW someone is going to give you something. What is proper ettiqette then? What if you know they won't be happy with the gift because you can't afford anything really nice?

I know it's the thought, but some people don't understand the concept.

Cool If they are like that!....

Who cares what they think!

If someone is that rude to let on they don't like your gift then cut them loose...you don't need people like that in your life....

Gifts should be given unconditionally....if they were that inappropriate I may even refuse their gift or give it to charity!

Bye for now!

You're right!! Thanks for the helpful advice. It's difficult to hurt those you care about, but sometimes you just can't please folks.

Thanks again!!
