  • From the very beginning the hubby has always handed me the remote! But I would try to find something he liked as well and that was when I would watch most sports. Now...I watch some football and I watch what I want...if he wants to watch somethng specific he goes down into the family room where he stays most of the time, lol...he has his own computer and tv so...no fighting over the remote!
  • I warned my fiance right from the start about how my ex was with the remote control, so he's really good about it. Granted we don't watch much in the way of tv. We don't have a tv in the bedroom, which is where we spend most of our together time, but I have my laptop in there and we watch movies and tv series on hulu and on dvd. We both have a say in what we want to watch. I was never exposed to much science fiction growing up (until I started watching Original Star Trek in late high school), as my parents dislike it, I enjoy it, but being never exposed to it I missed a lot.
I also missed a lot of things I wanted to watch when I was with my ex, since he always had control of the remote, and would flip channels when the ads started, so even if he had something on that I was interested in I ended up missing half of it anyways cause he would never get it back in time.
I wanted to watch Firefly when it first started on tv (as we watched Buffy and Angel and it looked interesting) but because he didn't, we didn't.
Makes me mad just thinking about it.
  • lizziep - you are me LOL
  • Mckendrick, if I didn't know better, I'd think we were married to the same guy!

We now have two TV's, each set up to record from the satellite individually. Mine is the office with my computer and comfy chair.

No more old war movies and westerns for me!
  • Jason is awesome with sharing the TV - I would say I am more of the TV hog than he is. Neither one of us are "flippers" - we record the shows we want to watch, then ask each other "hey - what do you want to watch on the DVR." I would say 60% of the shows we both like and then 30% of the shows are mine. Honestly, I pretty much like everything he wants to watch (although a 4 hour marathon of Alton Brown can leave me kind of bored and restless). He is pretty cheerful about sitting through Being Human or Spartacus, although they aren't his favorites (Spartacus has boobies, so that's a selling feature).
  • Yeaaah, I'M that jerk haha. My boyfriend could live forever watching re-runs of Family Guy and South Park. But mostly Family Guy. I love Family Guy, but not every. single. day.

So I hog the remote. We watch I Survived and documentaries on Logo and (what my bf hates the most), House Hunters!! I let him pick what we watch like...a quarter of the time. And some of the time he wants to watch what I want to watch. But yeah, I get majority rule. And he let's me, so whatever. We're both happy.
