My daughter and son in law came by tonight just before dinner.
Angie was making one of our new favorites...margherita chicken....which is becoming one of their fav's too..
anyway we got to talking about "family" favorite meals...and how my son called a few days ago for Angie's tomato/bacon/basil pasta recipe and how my daughter and son in law eat it at least once a month....
which lead to....
one of our favorite sandwiches which we "forgot" to make all summer...
Hmmmm. My favorite good for me sandwich would have to be whole wheat braed or bun, laughing cow light cheese (1 wedge), spring mix lettuce, onion, tomato, dill pickle, cucumber, sweet peppers, and a little bit of jalepenos. Now, my no so good for you sandwich would be corned beef on rye grilled with swiss cheese and spicy mustard, so tasty, but so salty.
pretty hard to beat whole grain bread, cheese, a couple tomato slices and a couple basil leaves grilled summer perfection!!
i also make a killer sandwich with bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheese, cucumber, sprouts, avocado... so many veggies you could slap on there! sliced mushrooms maybe? I usually make that one into a pannini on the old george foreman grill - only think i use it for anymore. lol.
oh wait! I thought of another one that I started making to kill some of our cravings for fast food. I make two variations- teriyaki chicken and philly cheese steak using the same method - I saute onion and garlic in my wok (peppers too if i'm doing the philly), then add my sliced deli meat- when it's all heated through and looking yummy I put a slice of cheese- usually swiss or provlone something light -over each serving - then put it on my sandwich roll and yum! the chicken one gets a splash of teriyaki sauce before i place the cheese on it.

Whole grain bread, light mayo, chicken breast, tomato slices, avocado slices, & sprouts. Haven't had this in forever but now that I have discovered OroWheat Sandwich Thins I think I can have one of these.
My absolute favorite: wheat bread, a very garlicky hummus, bacon, sprouts, dill pickles, and pickled sweet peppers.

I haven't had a bad sandwich from that place yet, and between my husband and I, we're slowly working our way through the entire menu, lol. They come up with some really creative stuff.
I wish we had that sandwich place here MAYNESS!...maybe if there are any in "the city" my step-d can bring me one when she comes home for Christmas. We do have Gandolfo's Deli less than 2 miles from me...they are all New York...http://www.gandolfosdeli.com/
You gals are really giving Angie and I some great ideas....
Here is another one she mentioned...not too healthy though...we have been grilling the Brownsville Bratwurst we get from Costco, placing them on a Kaiser roll with 1,000 Island Dressing and sauerkraut....yum-o...as Rachael says...
