Gimme Your (favorite) Sandwich!

:)

My daughter and son in law came by tonight just before dinner.

Angie was making one of our new favorites...margherita chicken....which is becoming one of their fav's too..

anyway we got to talking about "family" favorite meals...and how my son called a few days ago for Angie's tomato/bacon/basil pasta recipe and how my daughter and son in law eat it at least once a month....

which lead to....

one of our favorite sandwiches which we "forgot" to make all summer...

Grilled chicken ~ whole wheat bun ~ bacon ~ lettuce ~ red onion ~ tomato ~ honey mustard dressing ~ guacamole....YES!!!

So....what is your favorite sandwich?....are you willing to share? ;)

CanadianCutie 09-17-2009 10:38 PM

Hmmmm. My favorite good for me sandwich would have to be whole wheat braed or bun, laughing cow light cheese (1 wedge), spring mix lettuce, onion, tomato, dill pickle, cucumber, sweet peppers, and a little bit of jalepenos. Now, my no so good for you sandwich would be corned beef on rye grilled with swiss cheese and spicy mustard, so tasty, but so salty.

CLCSC145 09-17-2009 11:31 PM

Ricotta cheese, grilled portabello mushroom, roasted red pepper, and spinach on a crunchy bread. It just makes me happy.

lizziep 09-17-2009 11:31 PM

pretty hard to beat whole grain bread, cheese, a couple tomato slices and a couple basil leaves grilled summer perfection!!

i also make a killer sandwich with bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheese, cucumber, sprouts, avocado... so many veggies you could slap on there! sliced mushrooms maybe? I usually make that one into a pannini on the old george foreman grill - only think i use it for anymore. lol.

oh wait! I thought of another one that I started making to kill some of our cravings for fast food. I make two variations- teriyaki chicken and philly cheese steak using the same method - I saute onion and garlic in my wok (peppers too if i'm doing the philly), then add my sliced deli meat- when it's all heated through and looking yummy I put a slice of cheese- usually swiss or provlone something light -over each serving - then put it on my sandwich roll and yum! the chicken one gets a splash of teriyaki sauce before i place the cheese on it.

Awesome ladies....

LIZZIE...I'm coming over for lunch!!!

I could eat this any day of the week:

Whole grain bread, light mayo, chicken breast, tomato slices, avocado slices, & sprouts. Haven't had this in forever but now that I have discovered OroWheat Sandwich Thins I think I can have one of these.

ringmaster 09-18-2009 12:33 AM

some pesto, fresh roasted red peppers and some low fat feta or mozzarella cheese , gotta be careful not to overdo it with the pesto.

mamaspank 09-18-2009 02:03 AM

Sourdough bread, sharp cheddar cheese, homegrown tomato slices, couple pieces of crisp bacon. May not be the healthiest, but so good!

Stella 09-18-2009 06:48 AM

Avocado and mustard :-)

mayness 09-18-2009 06:55 AM

My absolute favorite: wheat bread, a very garlicky hummus, bacon, sprouts, dill pickles, and pickled sweet peppers.

If you want some fantastic sandwich ideas, take a look at this menu:
http://ithacabakery.com/pages/menus/...sandwiches.php
I haven't had a bad sandwich from that place yet, and between my husband and I, we're slowly working our way through the entire menu, lol. They come up with some really creative stuff.

FreeSpirit 09-18-2009 07:10 AM

2 slices of soy bacon, 1/2 a tablespoon of vegan mayo, mustard, and 1/2 an avocado all toasted together on the stove.

Palestrina 09-18-2009 08:38 AM

I'm drooling just writing this out:

Focaccia or ciabatta bread, prosciutto, asiago cheese, arugula, topped with fig jam. :^:

EZMONEY 09-18-2009 06:32 PM

I wish we had that sandwich place here MAYNESS!...maybe if there are any in "the city" my step-d can bring me one when she comes home for Christmas. We do have Gandolfo's Deli less than 2 miles from me...they are all New York...http://www.gandolfosdeli.com/

You gals are really giving Angie and I some great ideas....

Here is another one she mentioned...not too healthy though...we have been grilling the Brownsville Bratwurst we get from Costco, placing them on a Kaiser roll with 1,000 Island Dressing and sauerkraut....yum-o...as Rachael says...

I don't eat my favorite often but it is fresh sourdough bread with dry salami and swiss cheese !! Love it !!

MaryEllen 09-18-2009 07:50 PM

I love turkey or ham, colby jack cheese, and either hummus or guacamole on wheat bread. Maybe not that healthy, but delicious.

Sourdough right from the SF pier I assume? :)....yummy!

SunshineCA 09-18-2009 09:17 PM

My favorite sandwich is peanut butter and banana on whole grain or multigrain bread. If I'm in the mood, I'll toss oven-baked bacon on there as well.

I also like a good tuna sandwich. :)

bargoo 09-18-2009 11:54 PM

best sandwich

The best in the world !

lizziep 09-19-2009 02:17 AM

oh thought of another one i really like. Morning star italian "sausages" cooked up with onions and peppers on tossed on a roll. Fast, cheap, delicious- can't really tell you're not eating meat.

SunshineCA 09-19-2009 06:52 PM

This morning I made the best sandwich. I made a B.A.T. - Bacon, Arugula and Tomato, with oven-baked bacon, toasted multigrain bread, Miracle Whip and a touch of Dijon mustard. Absolutely delish! ;)

harrismm 09-19-2009 06:57 PM

Yumm Sunshine:)

After all these great ideas I had a deli turkey sandwich on a kaiser roll with just olive oil mayo...it was good...should have stuck with that...

added those dang nachos....dang!

CountingDown 09-19-2009 08:47 PM

LF Laughing Cow, Eggplant Pepper Spread (from Trader Joe's), FF feta, broccoli slaw, walnuts, craisins, raw spinach, and grilled MSF Chicken Strips all mixed together and served in a Joseph's Heart Healthy pita.

Sweetcaroline 09-19-2009 10:52 PM

I don't like sandwiches...:s:

... I eat one for lunch everyday... but my favorite is, tuna with real mayo, sprouts, and dill pickle sliced very thin, rolled up in a whole wheat tortilla, top with a piece of LF provolone, quick spray of Smart Heart and place under broiler for a few minutes... :T It's definitely a treat... because I must have real mayo...

Will this be yet another thread killing post ? lol

Nope! :)

Because I want to talk about pickles :)

My dad always had white bread, butter, longhorn cheese and bread and butter pickles on the sandwich he took to work.

I like bread and butter pickles but I prefer CLAUSEN dill sandwich slices on my sandwiches....any sandwich. Gotta be Clausen...just gotta...

bargoo 09-20-2009 10:35 AM

Another favorite Braunscheiger on toast with mayo. And if I am going to "buy" a sandwich, almost anything from Togo's. When I was a kid and on the rare occaision I would go to a restaurant with my parents, I thought a club sandwich was about as sophisticated as possible, I still like club sandwiches. And Bill, try peanut butter with a little honey on whole wheat toast.

Onederchic 09-20-2009 10:43 AM

I'm boring. I just like turkey on wheat with mustard and a ton of veggies.

BARGOO we have a Togo's about 3/4 of a mile from our house. I had to quit going there when I started this journey over 2 years ago...I can't go in without getting the pastrami sandwich...:(

That's just like my son MEESH...only turkey...never ham...or anything else...mustard only.... never ever mayo!

Onederchic 09-20-2009 02:41 PM

I don't eat pork or beef but I do really love turkey and chicken :D

srmb60 09-20-2009 08:52 PM

I had a roast beef with horseradish and cheddar sammy at Quiznos yesterday. Nice and for $2 not a bad deal. 280 cals.
