  • Quote: Mrstobe - I was thinking about what you said about Stefan being "Edward"-esque while watching it. I got more of an Angel from Buffy vibe from him.
Hmm...I will watch for that Angel like behavior this week. I felt he was giving the Edward like tortured love struck seductive teen vamp thing going on. I don't really know how to explain it.

I was/am a HUGE fan of Buffy, but I didn't get that feeling with this show. I agree with sarahyu, it has the teen drama feel to me, like gossip girl or the oc. But, I told myself I would give it 3 episodes, just in case it takes the writers sometime to warm up the storyline.

I also don't dig the idea that Elena is like his reincarnated lost love from the 1800s. Seems a little cheesy...did anyone watch the soap Passions?? They did that same storyline with Luis and Sheridan...lol.
  • I didn't get any Buffy feel from this show either, I guess because there wasn't a lot of the supernatural aspect in it to me. It seemed like a high school drama where some of the students happened to be vampires, not a vampire show that happened to take place in a high school. I love love love Buffy and Angel and so far none of these new shows really comes close for me.
  • I should clarify... I don't get a Buffy feel from the whole show. Just Stefan & Damon. It's like a Angel before - Angel after thing. You two are correct, the rest of it is very drama-esque.

Now I want to watch Buffy...
  • Marbear, DH & I just rewatched Buffy a few months ago. We started Angel, but got distracted by new acquisitions and moved off to MASH & Star Trek on BluRay. I think it is time for a little Angel.
  • That brother is really an ***...sexy, yes but an *** indeed!

I am eager for the next episode already

From the book, Stefan is supposed to be a tortured, love struck, even tempered vampire. Whereas, Damon is more carefree, wild, power hungry, loves to be a vampire etc. I haven't watched the show yet. I have it on DVR. I'll be watching it this weekend. I would recommend reading the books.
  • I gotta get the books >.<
  • Pinto - yeah - I've read the books. I don't think they got either Stefan or Damon's personalities right. ****, they didn't get Elena's right either... I'm currently considering them two different things (the books and theshow) or I won't be able to watch it!

Onder - get them. Then get the Forbidden Game Triology. That's my fav of her triologies.
  • I am adding them all to my list now, thanks!!!
  • I want to read the books, but I will read after the show because if not...I know I will be disappointed in the show. I always prefer books, but so far I like the show.
  • Thanks to the internets, I now have ebooks of several of LJ Smith's series including The Vampire Diaries, yay

Damon is my favorite. Both in the books and the show
  • Haha, maybe I will learn to love him too
  • Quote: Hehe gotcha I don't watch certain shows with my bf around either, The Vampire Diaries is one of them.
HA! This is why we have two TV's, so I can watch my shows and he goes to the back of the house. I'm still lovin and watching this show. I LOVE Damon...he is really good at being bad.
  • Oh yes, he is (I've been missing you )
