Just got home from work...unloaded my truck....made sure my check was in the mail...opened up my first of many beers for this 3 day Memorial Week-End!

Did I mention Angie and I are going to a chocolate festival here in town on Sunday? Of course not! Paper says 140 booths...me I am not big on chocolate but Angie is!

[QUOTE=EZMONEY;2751675] Went to a comedy club with some friends once, one of the gals in our group kept laughing at anything...drinking...the stand-up guy asks her..."Where are you from young lady?" She says "IOWA"...he says..."figures...you know what IOWA stands for don't ya?...Idiots Out Wandering Around...." that was him...not me!

Hey, Gary, we lived in Minnesota the first 10 years we were married-that's the oldest joke in MN!!!! And, believe me, it's toooo true! It's usually said when one of them has just done something really stupid while driving, which is basically anytime any Iowan is behind the wheel!:fr:

Remember-I may live in Iowa, but I'll never be an Iowan-once a Hoosier, always a Hoosier!

Operator265 05-22-2009 09:57 PM

Bill-Let me clarify. Cute and SMART. Kinda leaves Gary out now don't it?

I thought Iowa stood for, "I Owe the World an Apology"

Ronni-Put your real state flag up as an avatar. You know, just for clarity.

bargoo 05-22-2009 10:03 PM

ronni, my home town not far from Iowa. Rochester, Mn.

bargoo 05-22-2009 10:06 PM

PS My cousin , a native of St. Paul married a vet with a practice in Iowa City., They lived there several years with her begging him to move, anywhere but Iowa, they eventually moved to her home town of St. Paul.

I think she figured it out Bill...it was US!

Been to Minnesooooooooooooota several times since that is where ex-wife was born. Love St. Paul area....mostly visited the Duluth and New Ulm areas.

Ronni ....what in the heck is a Hoosier anyway? I mean even when you wikipedia it...just doesn't make sense...

bargoo 05-23-2009 10:56 AM

The two best states in the union Minnesota and California. I am a native of both. You only have to live in California twenty years to be considered a native and I was born in Minnesota, so I qualify on both counts.

Ok, I was taught in our Hoosier History that we're called Hoosiers because of the way we talk-you know "hoos yer ma" in our slightly southern backwoods country way. I wiki'd it too just to see what others say about it, but hadn't heard of some of the other origins mentioned there. They did mention the movie "Hoosiers". My grandpa was superintendent of Milan Schools for many years through 60's and 70's. Basketball was THE only sport we knew for many years!

I've been to New Ulm-very German!

Bargoo-how long has it been since you've been to Rochester? It's changing alot!

Operator-yep, I Owe the World an Apology is another of the jokes we've heard. We also call the phrase "good Iowa driver" an oxymoron! Everyone in MN gives cars with Iowa plate a lot of room on the road!

Born here in southern California heaven.

My resting for the week-end ended while I was on date night with Angie at Soup Plantation. Got the call from my son...."dad I just picked up the keys to the house...we will be there in 20 minutes"....which means he started moving in to the house he and my dil just bought. It is a bit less than 1 1/2 miles from me. Angie will meet my dil after bells and pick start picking out colors to paint. I am lucky that the house has been repainted recently so we won't have too much to do...still have some drywall repairs to do for them and a few other things...all in all the house is in pretty decent shape.

have a great week-end TEAM

You're going to be a busy boy Gary!
Have fun!

bargoo 05-23-2009 03:22 PM

ronni, it has been a long time since I have been to Rochester. I have checked it out on the internet; The high school I graduated from is no longer in use. Who knows how long that has been ? I don't have any relatives left in Southern Minnesota now so when I go I usually visit cousins in St. Paul , I spent a lot of time in St. Paul as a kid growing up. I was born in God's Country in Northern Minnesota, near Bemidji.

They're still using chalk and slates, aren't they? They were trying to introduce stuff caled pen and paper at one time, but, I just don't think it will catch on. It's too messy and hard too erase.
