Aphil! don't post as much as I like as of late, but it's good to see you around! :)

Update: I am a special projects coordinator for a company that owns a bunch of popular local restaurants/bars/clubs/music venues. It's exciting, rewarding, and busy... and happy hour is a few steps away (my office is above one of the restaurants). ;)

Chele615 03-26-2009 06:18 AM

I am a high school special education teacher. I work at the high school that I graduated from and work mainly with kids who struggle through school due to their learning disabilities. I teach two Algebra classes for some of our kids who can't handle the math out on their own in a general education class. I also have three Academic Support blocks where kids come to get help on tests/quizzes/homework/projects/etc.

Although there is a ton of paperwork and the paperwork seems to get more and more every year, I adore my job. The kids are great (for the most part) and they are at that age where they can hold conversations about things going on in the world. I love every single day and I love seeing them grow and mature throughout the four years that I have them.

SweetScrumptious 04-11-2009 09:21 PM

I just finished my third year of my schooling for becoming a Registered Nurse (I have one more year to go). This summer, I will be working as an employed student nurse on the renal floor. After I grad in 2010, I plan to work on a acute med/surg floor for a year or two. I then plan to take a distance education course (which is a year or two long) to get my certificate in emergency. That's right... my main goal is to become an Emergency Nurse!

blueberry3 04-13-2009 03:00 PM

This prettymuch sums up what I do: :comp:

Hehe but more specifically, I went to school in PA and got a degree in marketing. Now I'm living in the DC metro area and working with Take Care Clinics (they are in Walgreens stores) on the marketing team. Love seeing that a bunch of us here do something marketing-related...I wonder if it's a coincidence or if it's just that us marketers tend to turn to the web for advice.

My latest project (which I'm proud of): getting an offer off the ground where we now provide free basic healthcare visits to customers that have been laid off from their jobs. It's pretty important to me!

PinkyPie 04-13-2009 03:18 PM

I'm an accounts payable supervisor, but I went to school for international business (focusing on import/export and contract law). I have flipped between finance (accounting) and logistics (operations) since I was about 21 years old. Currently work for my favourite coffee company (and get to drink espresso all day whilst trying to pay all of our suppliers on time!).

nicolen 04-13-2009 06:03 PM

I'm a supervisor in the claims department for an insurance company. I'm the person you really don't want to see looking at your claim - if I am, there's either something wrong or it's complex.

My degree is in history and education, but I didn't really feel comfortable with teaching. Taught for a couple of years, spent a year teacher aiding with special needs kids and moved from there to where I am now.
