Being single on Valentines day?
How many ladies out there are single this valentines day? or spent some of your adult years being single on valentines day? My question to you is what are you doing or planning on doing ( if anything ) this V-day? Do you find yourself feeling even more alone than usual when seeing all the happy couples and valentines decor? I kinda want to do something, but have no clues what to do....maybe I'll go see a movie by myself ( which is something I've never done )
Anyway, anyone have any ideas? |
When I was single, I focused on giving to others, rather than on what I wasn't getting. I baked heart-shaped cookies or brownies and made cards and gave them to people to brighten their day, which in turn brightened mine.

I've never really invested my in Valentine's day. It really didn't bother me to be single this time of year. It's really just another excuse to OD on chocolate, and, let's face it, if I needed an excuse I wouldn't be on this site!! I have been to the movies alone, didn't care for it though because I like to talk about it afterward and people look at you funny if you talk to yourself:o) I say, rent a good action flick or two and settle in, don't forget your blessings!!
Jenny :o) |
Yeah, I've been with my guy for 16 yrs, we don't do anything for VD. Its just another working day for us.
I'll be treating myself to a chocolate bar that day. ;) |
We have been married for 16 years, together for 18. We don't go out for VDAY at all--poor service, too many crowds and my hubby KNOWS not to bring me $100 bouquet of roses that have been marked up four times. That is enough money for me to plant my entire yard with flowers for Spring! We make it special and even have our children taking part in the celebration. My father used to say that Valentine's Day was for amateurs. I kind of agree with him nowadays. I love having my hubby do something incredible for me out of the blue rather than feeling like a holiday forced him into something.

Having been single for MANY V-Days, my suggestion would be to do whatever makes you happy. For me, I usually get together with other singles (guys and girls, just whoever's interested) and do something fun: movies, dinner, dancing, whatever. In the past, I've ordered pizza and watched movies at home with some friends, or one year by myself when I'd recently moved and didn't know many people.
I think the thing to remember is that you don't have to spend the day proving that you're happy being single, if you're not. Forced fun is no fun at all, so if it's a bummer of a day, try and figure out how you're going get through it without getting depressed, or turning to food. ;) But it hasn't been an issue for me - I treat it as just another day, which it is! |
I was single for many valentines days and it passed as any normal day. Honestly, I never cared for it as a holiday whether I am with someone or not. I'm married now and we have no plans to celebrate it.
One year, one of my friends had an anti-valentines party which was fun. We watched a movie and ate some snacks. |
me and my boyfriend dont have anything plan for v day cause we are both broke and both work all day...
but we arent too crazy about vday anyways.... |
couldn't care less about valentines day when i was single or now that i'm married. lucky for me that happens to be my husbands birthday- so we just do stuff for him instead. sometimes he'll get me some chocolates. thats it and thats fine by me. hubby doesn't do romance so if i had any expectations of him i'd be let down every year anyway. lol.

I'm single so I have no plans for V-Day. I think going to a movie is a wonderful idea! I went to one alone and was happy with myself that I did. I enjoyed it! :)

This year I won't have a guy by my side for V-day which will be just fine. I will go get a pedi and have an outstanding bubble bath! A movie is fine- it's not a bad thing to go out and do things by yourself- you'll be in the best of company! But if you do want to go out and meet people, a lot of places have V-day singles dances.

i'm not single but i don't really like v'day anyway. we never do anything special.
|
i absolutely love going to the movies by myself. sometimes (even though i'm in a long-term relationship), i'll treat myself to dinner and a movie. i just bring a book instead of a person!
