I had a one year old toddler, was attending UCSanta Cruz, yet again! I finally finished in 2001 and I think I was the oldest person in my graduating class. That year, 1988, was the first year I had to seriously diet in my life...lost all the baby fat and that was the thinnest I have been since.

In 1969 my mom got a Camaro. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. And, I saw a side of my mom I usually didn't see. She drove like a maniac in that car. Kids don't realize that a mom in her thirties is still YOUNG!

One year after high school....moved into a tri-plex I owned with my dad...I was on my own at 19 paying rent to the tune of $135 a month!

Bought my first car - a '76 Firebird - cost me all of $4,800 - brand NEW. Loved it though I quickly found out that it was of no use in the winter snows. We all felt patriotic because it was the Bicentennial.

Addicted to Love - 1986 - Robert Palmer

And yes Quix - you just CAN'T drive slow in a Mustang, Camaro, Firebird or muscle car - especially if the 8-track was blaring

1986 I was watching my marraige go down the tubes...waiting for any positive movement from my ex...nope. Coaching T-Ball! Struggling in my business. Life was not all bad.

In 1995 we had our house remodeled. Oh, my, goodness. That was one of the most stressful things to ever happen to me. Well, actually, my husband started to remodel and when there was no place to sit, sheetrock dust flavored everything I cooked and one of our sons started to have asthma from all the dust, we hired a contractor. We had to move out and when he fell behind schedule we had to move back in before he was done and then they had to work around us. What a nightmare. That was the only time we have ever ended up in court. We won, but the grief was hardly worth it.

EZ and Happy-One of our neighbors has a Chevelle Supersport that I drool over every time I drive by...sigh.

1989 ~ hummm...wife left me! My dad died. Tough time in my life...but it got soooo much better! Busy with the kids being a single parent with all the sports/church/scout/ activities they were in.

Cats In The Cradle ~ Harry Chapin 1975....a song I tried to live my life by!

QUIXOTICA....I have been breathing that drywall dust for over 40 years....having started when I was 13 working week-ends for my dad....one of my guys is always sanding over my coffee cup, no matter where I try to put it on the job...yummy....wink

True....but in my behalf, at 14, it was hard to read the front of the 8 track with that black light ~ incense ~ and smoke in my bedroom ;)....no! not that smoke....the smoke from the cigarettes I was sneaking from my parent's ;)

1975 still not a good year for me. much unhappiness, no direction.

Blacklights, muscles cars, smoking ... oh those were the days *sigh* - you're making me kinda nostalgic. I raise my Tequila Sunrise in a toast to you

Carry on with 1968 as I already answered that one...

happy2bme 12-18-2008 12:07 AM

Ok, I will try and pick this up again.

1968 - front half I was in 8th grade. Top of my class, counting the days until we'd be out from under the watchful eye (and pointer) of Sister Symphrose. Kind of scared about starting high school, glad to not be wearing a uniform anymore even tho I knew Mom couldn't afford to buy me lots of new school clothes. So I learned how to sew my own.

2000: Graduating from high school in Western Colorado. Best. Summer. Ever. I spent it going to every mountain music festival I could find. I was a hippy all summer! I started college that fall and looking back, boy did I have a LOT of growing up to do!
