Invasive Procedures by Orson Scott Card and Aaron Johnston (its really good!)
Just started Supreme Courtship by Christopher Buckley
Right now I'm reading textbooks :(
But my recent reads are "The Travelers Gifts." Awesome for people who like to live in history, in their imaginations. I love all the Narnia books and read them as much as possible. The Last Lecture is what I'm trying to get through now. |
just started tom wolfe's I am charollote simmons... 700+ pages - wish me luck!
Since posting last I have read Size 14 is Not Fat Either by Meg Cabot and am currently reading Fearless Fourteen by Janet Evanovich...I liked the first and so far 14 is good as well.
The Lightening Thief by Rick Riordan. It's written for middle schoolers, which is obvious from the style, but still pretty interesting. I'm reading it for book discussion.
Honeymoon with my Brother by Franz Wisner. Also for book a discussion, I'm only about 10 pages in so far, but I like it. It seems like it will be pretty humorus. Mystic and Rider by Sharon Shinn. Yet another book discussion! lol. I haven't started this one yet, only skimmed the first page or so. I'm also most of the way through Secrets of a Former Fat Girl and love it. I have Such a Pretty Fat by Jen Lancaster sitting on my desk waiting to be read as well, maybe after I get some of the book group books out of the way. |
I am reading The Shack by William P Young
i'm on to the second book in my series already- A Clash of Kings.
dianag- i finished American gods last and i love his short stories...haven't read the two you are mentioning, but i'm getting those soon LOL
[I may have posted this already, and if so, please forgive the redundancy of this post]
I'm reading through (or actually listening to) C.S. Lewis' Space Trilogy. I've already finished Out of the Silent Planet and Perelandra, and I'm about 1/6 of the way through That Hideous Strength. Once I finish that I may download Phantom of the Opera if the voice of the reader is suitable. Otherwise I'll just have to go back to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. |
Just starting The Last Time They Met...Anita Shreve
Anything by Philippa Gregory or Margaret George. The last one I read was "The Other Boleyn Girl". Now I'm re-reading the Eragon series since the third book is coming out this month. Also, for all the vampire lovers out there, I just finished a fantasic book called "The Historian" It's another take on the Dracula story and it is SO GOOD.
Phillipa Gregory has a new book coming out this week - The Other Queen about Mary Queen of Scots imprisonment. I kind of wish she had focused on her very exciting life leading UP to the imprisonment, but I'm still looking forward to it and have it on hold at the library.
I just finished reading 2 novels: All We Ever Wanted Was Everything - I found this book so unbelievably depressing. Think of a bad thing that can happen to three women - it probably happened. The Writing Class - this was great. A very taut, funny mystery. |
I've read two Phillipa Gregory novels, The Other Boleyn Girl and The Boleyn Inheritance and I enjoyed them both. What I can't figure is in what order I should read the others--or does it really matter?
There are a couple of series that should be read in order (Wideacre Trilogy and Earthly Joys). For her Tudor stuff, I would just let history be your guide - read the Henry the 8th stuff before Elizabeth, for example! I think they can be read out of order without any big issue - it's no big spoiler that Anne Boleyn gets beheaded!
I guess Constant Princess comes first - it's Katherine of Aragon. |
I have re-read "In Her Shoes" by Jennifer Weiner
I am currently half-way through "Good in Bed" by Jennifer Weiner....can you tell I like her as an author...hehehe :p After I'm finished that, I will get back into reading "Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett I had started reading it a few months ago, but we moved and I couldn't find the book...but I found it about 2 weeks ago ;) |

I am currently on a Jodi Piccoult kick. I adored "My Sister's Keeper" and that was one of those books that I didn't want to put down. The next one on my list is "Nineteen Minutes" which I am actually looking forward to reading it. Her books are always a pretty good price on Amazon, so whenever I'm ordering anything from there and need another $10 to save on shipping, I usually grab another one of her books. LOL |
I have "Pillars of the Earth" and haven't started it yet. Now I can't wait. I also loved "The Outlander" series by Diana Gabaldon. Anybody read that series? What did you think? Two other books I loved..."Beach Music" by Pat Conroy and "Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen. I love reading!!!!
Two for the Dough by Janet Evanovich. It's a bit profane for my tastes, but it's too hilarious to put down!

I'm reading Vamps and the City by Kerrelyn Sparks. It's pretty good so far. I have no idea why I'm really into Vampire Lit right now, lol.

PS I Love You is a great book. I'm afraid to see the movie though...a guy wrote it, and I don't think he did it justice. (I know he left out/changed some major characters that were in the book...so that upset me). It's a wonderful book. Have the tissues handy. |

Has anyone here read the Twilight series? It's very popular, but I'm scared it will all be a bunch of kinky teenage mush. :S |
I am reading "Choke" by Chuck Palahniuk - he's such a great author.
My friend is about to lend me one of the Twilight books, Wolf Goddess. I'm hoping it'll be good. |

I LOVE the Twilight books!!! I'm obsessed with them!!!!!!! I cannot wait for the movie!!!!! Theres nothing kinky about them. If you want kinky..read the Undead & Unwed series, lol. Those are pretty good books though.
I didn't read PS I Love You, but last year DH DD and I went to see the movie. We all cried. DD and I cried the ENTIRE movie. I had no idea this was written by a guy--it is extremely touching.
No, the book was written by a woman (Cecilia Ahern). I think Quiet Ballerina meant the movie screenplay was written by a man?
I read PS I love you last week and I couldn't put it down... But I was really let down, the ending just seemed to really fail the rest of the book for me..It just seemed to suddenly end with no moral or meaning.
I'm now reading Devil Water by Anya Seton and I love it - I have yet to read a book by her that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed. |
Hi everyone!
I'm loving the Twilight series. I'm about to start Breaking Dawn... I couldn't put the others down, but school has gotten in the way with this one. |
I just started Twilight.
I read Twilight when I'm out of other books to read. Which reminds me, The Host by Stephanie Meyer is also really good!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm more than 3/4 through Twilight in only a day! I am surprised I am enjoying it so much!

Finished The Last Time They Met and started Big Boned by Meg Cabot last night. Hoping to be done with it tonight so I can start The Weight of Water by Anita Shreve.
I'm working my way through the Harry Potter series. Again. Currently on the Goblet of Fire.
Started The Weight of Water by Anita Shreve. I am not on an Anita Shreve kick but am curious. Someone told me that this one and The Last Time They Met had to do with one another, and in the back of TLTTM, there was a questions asked about a character in the book, Thomas and if or why he was in The Weight of Water...so now I have to read to see the connection, lol. I do have more books by her but need a break from her after this. :)
I'm reading The Undead Next Door by Kerrelyn Sparks
Cristina -- I like Anita Shreve. I really liked those two books and Fortune's Rocks.
I'm reading Bubbles Unbound by Sarah Strohmeyer. It's a silly mystery series and I thought I would enjoy it but I'm really not. It's taking me forever to get through it because I don't like it that much and I don't have much time to read anyway since I'm pretty much constantly breastfeeding my newborn these days! I picked this book because I thought it might be another fun series like the Janet Evanovich books, but it's not really all that fun. I just don't care for the main character so far, and uh...that's kind of crucial in a series like that! After this, I plan to get started on Pillars of the Earth, which everyone recommends! I'm also reading a book about writing for young adults because I have an idea for a young adult novel I want to write and I'm in the planning stages. Will I have time to actually write it? Um...probably not. |
