I've noticed that if a person mentions something awkward or embarrassing, he/she might be successful in killing the thread. Like, I'm on the blob and afraid to even sneeze! Wel... you get the idea. :P

You are all to funny! Love it. My family is getting use to me laughing at the computer!

"Thread killers"

Most of the time people just run out of things to add, and then a thread dies a "natural death" unless it's revisited later by another poster. It isn't because of the last post.

I'll tell you what my view is of "thread killers," as a mod (and I'm speaking only for myself--not other mods or admins): A thread killer is any post or posts that break the rules to the point where an admin decides to close and/or delete the thread. Now that really is a dead thread!

As an example, gossiping about other members in third person, even if the member's screen name isn't mentioned, is likely to get a thread shut down. This is especially true of defamatory comments--just as an example, amateur psychiatric diagnosis! For heavens sake, it does not take a higher degree to know this is out of line. :dunno:

Filling posts with curse words, even if they are replaced by asterisks or are euphemisms, is also not the best idea... Talking graphically about sexual organs also goes way over the top. 3FC members can be as young as 13 years old. :o

Suzanne 3FC has posted some General Chatter Rules as a sticky at the top of this forum. I suggest everyone read them, and also review the rules of membership.

It's the thread that never ends
It's the thread that never ends...

cause no one wants to kill it!

My husband says "Brevity is the soul of wit".

He says that because I normally ramble on and on and on. People lose interest. Crickets start chirping. My comment is usually the damp, dripping blanket over the entire thread.

Let's see if I've been as successful at the threadkill with this post as I am with most other posts!

(fingers crossed)

chickybird 08-31-2008 11:14 AM

Guess not! Not it's up to me to kill this thread.
Bwahahahaha! (That's an evil chuckle, btw)

JuliaDH 08-31-2008 11:22 AM

:devil::p:devil:
giggle...dont you love the threads you start and never have a response. I am still waiting to find any Canadian Idol fans!

Jennifer 3FC 08-31-2008 11:43 AM

Is there really a Canadian Idol? (show, I mean!)

JuliaDH 08-31-2008 11:45 AM

Yep! It comes on after the American Idol season and we get to watch it all summer. Right now we are down to the last 3 and the talent is awesome. I would not even know if it is aired state side. I watch it on CTV

Ruthxxx 08-31-2008 11:58 AM

Hey, Julia - I watch it but I close my eyes when Ben M. is on the screen.

JuliaDH 08-31-2008 12:00 PM

'k goona revive my thread! How is that for CPR!

Suzanne 3FC 08-31-2008 12:11 PM

I'm posting here just so I can prove to my sister that the curse is broken and I'm no longer a thread killer :)

Slashnl 08-31-2008 12:17 PM

Gosh, I made it this far reading the thread.... I HAVE to post, too! Will I be the one???

Jadeybaby 08-31-2008 12:19 PM

Nope :D

Jennifer 3FC 08-31-2008 12:19 PM

I bet this won't get killed till #500.
