Considering his love for water I would be tempted to call him Puddles (sorry, just kidding) but naming him after a lake might work nicely. Powell? Roosevelt? Seneca? Keuka?

Cokia 08-20-2008 01:29 PM

I had a small dog named lucky, so I associate it with small dogs. We had black labs--Nick and Sam. So I want to say "Tucker" is my favorite out of your choices! =]

ladybugnessa 08-20-2008 01:29 PM

how about FRED?

Loriann7 08-20-2008 01:46 PM

What do you all think of Dodger?

ladybugnessa 08-20-2008 01:48 PM

what do YOU think of it... you could call him puppy till you figure it out.

my dogs are Bagel Henry and Hannah Bean.

Bagel will answer to bagel, baygs, bay-bay or FAT DOG.

Hannah answers to Hannah, han-NA or her fav BEAN DOG

both dogs come when i call PUPPIES COME.

these PUPPIES are 9 and 6 years old.

Loriann7 08-20-2008 01:50 PM

Johnny Cash Walkington?

Johnny Cash Gurnall?

Loriann7 08-20-2008 01:50 PM

LOL Nessa, I don't have to call him anything, he just there, and when outside, i just start talking and he comes! :)

ollie27 08-20-2008 01:51 PM

I'm not a drinker, hence dumping his current name "Guinness".. :P So.. black label is out! LOL

FrouFrou 08-20-2008 02:24 PM

Okay, no offense to your choices but I voted for other. Not really into the names listed. But then I saw you mention Jesse James-Jessie & Jade and I like that.

My likes are George Clooney, lol...serious...that will be my next dogs name. Who says a dog can't have two names? :) Right now I have a half chihuahua/half min. schnauzer named Ernie. I like kind of silly names for dogs but not so silly. Also, like Cody and Max and I am drawing a blank.

On to see others suggestions and likes.

Loriann7 08-20-2008 02:34 PM

Frou, if you've ever seen a pedigree listing lineage of the purebreds, most have long names, here are some of his ancestors on record:

His name on record (I'm changing this) Guinness Jack Philip Clementi
father: Blackwaters Midwest Gunner
Mother: Madison Autumn Blackwater

Proud Timothy of Toeglen
Venvill Tina
duch Chocolate with Nuts (what were they thinking)
Moracres Kay Cee
Craighorn Bracken
Brindlebay Dawn
Pocklea Remus
Ropehall Emerald
Aces Sky High
Bowies Chocolate Drop
Zeus Maple Morse
Chance Maple Morse

Loriann7 08-20-2008 03:23 PM

Sully after Sully on Dr. Quinn! :P

ladybugnessa 08-20-2008 03:28 PM

no sully as in sullivan..

my GF has an irish wolfhound named sullivan and we call him sully!

Fat Melanie 08-20-2008 03:56 PM

Okay, I completely agree with the above post: Sirius is a bad-@ss name for a dog! I love it. (I am a Harry Potter geek hence why I especially like it!)

I also like Gurnall, that's unique.

I voted for other because I wasn't sure.

Why in the world did those people name the dog such a dumb name? Poor dog.

If I had a black lab, his name would be Dexter! I dunno why, I know an energetic kid named Dexter (he does happen to be african-american but that's not why I would name a black dog Dexter! I don't mean it in a racist way.) Mainly I would name a black dog Dexter because of the show Dexter, about the blood spatter analyst who moonlights as a serial killer.. . His true nature is dark, scary, black. Hence Dexter! I dunno.

I also like Walkington, for the simple fact that dogs love to take walks.

Loriann7 08-20-2008 03:58 PM

I like the name dexter, but refuse to use it for the same fact you would chose it! :P

modcat44 08-20-2008 03:59 PM

I like Carbon or Jet. If you like Johnny, go for it. Or name him the last name of your favorite Johnny (besides your bro), like Carson, or Cash, or Knoxville.

tkglenn 08-20-2008 04:22 PM

i have 2 dogs. our female is Laydee and our male is Sancho. We also had a male puppy whose name was Chesty. We also had puppies name casper, Kujo (which got changed to Max when he went to their owner), I don't remember the other names we named the puppies. I like the name captain or sargeant for a male dog. I also joke with my hubby about naming one of our dogs....dawg!!!! lol. My oldest sons name is Powell after lake powell for whoever it was that said to name him after a Lake. I love his name....Powell. There's alot of history behind his name. Good luck.

Loriann7 08-20-2008 04:33 PM

OK, been looking at lake names as was suggested, and so far all I like was

Champlain - champ (nick)
Mackinac - Mac (nick)
Wolfgangsee - (wolf)

Hat Trick 08-20-2008 07:43 PM

As someone failed to clear the plate with the uneaten steak on it, our dog got an extra nom-- and it occurred to me that Hoover, Bissell or Dyson would make a great dog name.

Loriann7 08-20-2008 08:38 PM

HHHMMM WITH THAT thought hat, I have the Eureka "The boss"... boss? LOL

WebRover 08-20-2008 09:04 PM

After looking at his parents' names, I like Gunner.

(My son used to be nicknamed "Hoover".)

Don't ask me why but Fred is an extremely popular name for Hamsters, goldfish and tropical fish! I have a hard time thinking of it for a dog.

suetalks 08-20-2008 09:51 PM

My daughter had a black lab/newfie mix named Nipper. Needless to say he was a nipper as a puppy and it stuck.

Lots of cute names here for sure. Our two favorite male dogs were Bogart..(Bogie), a golden and Casey an Irish setter.

everanderson 08-20-2008 10:38 PM

Here's another with the drink theme....Jager - as in German for hunter/those associated with hunting.

femmecreole 08-21-2008 07:31 AM

Sounds like he is full of "pepper and spice".
I'd name him Cayenne.

Loriann7 08-21-2008 11:05 AM

hhhmmm, which of these?

OK, here's what I'm thinking...

Because wolfgangsee is a lake... *(and his love for it) as well as his playfulness like a wolf

wolfgang Gurnall Walkington ... nick would be wolf

Due to popularity....

Tucker Gurnall Walkington ... nick would be tuck or tucker

In honor of my brother... and opposite of popularity, but isn't different good?

Johnny Gurnall Walkington .... nick has to be Johnny (can also put cash in there in honor of the late Johnny cash!)

Still debating on some of the others as well

Bear Gurnall Walkington... He plays like a bear cub!

Just sounds cool... (the Jessie and Jade (James) thing going)

Jessie Gurnall Walkington

Loriann7 08-21-2008 11:09 AM

Thinking about the names, he doesn't look like a bear or a wolf.. perhaps when he's bigger he might, he's just so underweight right now... but he sure plays like them! He does look like a Tucker, or even a Johnny (perhaps too my brother had black hair!)...

ladybugnessa 08-21-2008 11:18 AM

oy my friend just had a baby and his name is Tucker.

I like Tucker better than Johnny to be honest but it's YOUR DOG and you get to call him what you want.

Loriann7 08-21-2008 10:02 PM

OK... The name I'm going with is....

Tucker Gurnall Walkington.

SunshineCA 08-22-2008 01:33 AM

Midnight or Blackie! :)

SunshineCA 08-22-2008 01:34 AM

Or maybe even Blue, as in Blue Black. ;)
