Default I think....but need help and advice.

I have been very fond of diva's and the retro style. I kind of want the look of both...maybe but I need help and advice. I don't think I can look like it because of my weight and I'm more of a tomboy. I want to be very girlie--like how I used to be. I think I'm tomboyish because of my weight. But as for makeup and style, etc I need advice and help. Thanks.

are there specific examples you have? Like "I want to look like Bettie Page" or "I love J-LO's style"?

I think you have to look at who you admire the most (looks/body wise) and then go from there. It's hard to say without really knowing you but I know that I was more "girly" and "retro" when I was smaller - def. more like pin-up/ rockabilly style

I don't care for J-Lo but more like the pin-up/rockabilly type. Almost like the 50's and 60's era, during the war type style. I think it is so cute. Yeah, when I was smaller, I was girlier and more feminine. I want that again and with the retro diva type style.

you might want to just start googling for "rockabilly hair" "pin up look" that sort of thing...

if you are on myspace I can direct you to a pin-up hair do group

I was wondering if I'd be able to start to acheive this style starting now? I have quite wide hips, basically heavy bottom and smaller on top. I have big arms and just don't have a cute figure right now. When I was thinner I did but not now. Should I lose the weight first then try or should I start doing it now? I weigh 206 pounds and not proud of it. Thanks for all the advice that is given to me.

well, I have a few dresses from stop staring that are super cute and I am 210 lbs right now. I have found stuff on eBay for bigger girls in the same style. Maybe you want to try there by doing searches for "rockabilly" and your size (or 1x, XL whatever size you are).

I have arm issues myself and wide hips and ample butt... but you can still achieve this look if you really want it.

here's a rockabilly hairdo site
http://www.rockabillyhairstyle.com/

I just have my Bettie Page bangs. I like to wear stuff in my hair too - leopard patterned hair bands, flower clips, bows, stuff like that.

For example

and with a flower band in my hair

Make up - think black liquid eyeliner and red lips!

I was looking at makeup tips on expertvillage, and they have a series about how to do pin-up style makeup taught by a professional makeup artist:

http://www.expertvillage.com/video-s...-hollywood.htm

Each video is only a few minutes long, and covers a different aspect of applying makeup, from concealer & foundation to lipstick.

They have a lot of other videos about how to apply different makeup styles. I personally liked the one about how to get the "smokey" eye effect--the tips worked great when I tried them!
