anyone found a pair of flats with support?

  • I love all the new flats that are so in now, but even though everyone says they are soooo comfortable, I have yet to find a pair I could wear... mainly because they have absolutely no support (even expensive ones I've seen). They also usually slip off the back of my heels and flop...argh.

I definitely require some support (arch support). Has anyone found a good pair that actually has support? Or are there any inserts that you know of that actually provide arch support (not just extra cushioning?)??

Please help... I'd really like to get a pair or two for spring. Thanks a million!!
  • Hi Claire,

I found some good ones by Ecco at Zappos. They're more expensive than a regular pair of flats, but they're real shoes. They also don't rub my heels the way the cheap ones do.

    Good luck!
    Jean
  • I have high arches and love the super feet inserts (the green ones.) The are a bit more expensive then the usual kind, but they are fabulous! Almost like custom made orthodics. I'm not sure if they would work in ballet flats though. They are fairly ridgid.
  • Thanks for the responses. We actually have an Ecco outlet about 30 minutes away. I think I will go there and try some on and see how they feel.

Zenor - Is the brand name "Super Feet"? I haven't heard of them, but they sound worth checking into.

    Thanks!

If anyone else has brand suggestions for flats, let me know!
  • Yup. Just google super feet and you should find them.
  • Cool - thanks!
  • I have a CUTE pair of black flats by none other than Dr. Scholls... so you know they have support... (but they aren't GELLIN') lol!

I got them at DSW if that helps. I get compliments all the time on them and people are shocked when i tell them that they are Dr. Scholls.
  • Oooo... those sound like they would be comfy! I could probably google and find stores that sell Dr. Scholls (I haven't seen them anywhere in years), but just out of curiousity, what is DSW?

    Thanks!!
  • I just went on the Dr. Scholl's website, and I really like the look of some of their flats... very cute! I'm going to try to find a store, so I can try a pair on before I buy. But I may have found a solution. I hope they are as comfy as they look.
  • also check out the sofft shoes. I have several of their shoes and they have awesome comfort soles. I don't own any flats of theirs but i have a pair of low pumps that have lots of cushion.
    here's the website

  • Thanks, Gator - just looked at the site - very cute!!!
  • I had to switch to Birkenstocks. I have a very high arch and nothing gave me support. Of course the added weight since I quit smoking was just squishing my arches to the pavement too!!! Anyway, my doc told me to try Birkenstocks. They have a very weird support system and it seems like it would not actually give you support but WOW, once you get used to them your feet feel so great! The sizing is weird though. I normally wear an 8 M in US sizes and in Euro I wear a 7 W. I got a pair of their inserts for my regular shoes and then bought a pair of sandals. I had ended up getting Plantar Fasciitis in both heals and was in horrible pain! These shoes healed me! They are not cheap but you can often find them at Sam's. Good luck!
  • Horse, I have that, too. It is so painful. I have it in both feet and when it flares up, I sit and cry. I'd rather give birth to a 56 Buick rather than have that kind of pain.

DSW is a HUGE shoe store. They are all over the place. I just found some sandals there. It's the wrong time of year and places like Nordstrom want's too much money. Mine are so comfy and offer support.

Also, for your feet, check out the Good Feet Store. They are all over the place as well. I just bought a set of 3 different strengths of support. What a difference! They aren't cheap but considering how much abuse your feet take, it's worth it.
  • Gator, I am drooling over those Sofft shoes! They have some really sexy styles for a "comfort" shoe... very nice!
  • I have to throw my support behind Ecco - they are so comfortable!
