What a doozy of a week!

  • Monday: -50C weather, todd took day off. Had a very strange conversation with the nanny... she didn't seem right.

Tuesday: -45C weather, todd took another day off. Got a phone call from nanny, she's in the hospital - had a mini stroke the morning before. She had passed out while her daughter and granddaughter was there 30 minutes after I got off the phone with her.

Wednesday: had fil drive me to work and kids to school. Started work 30 minutes earlier, and had to leave at 2am.

Thursday: same as above. When I arrived to the school, I just found out nanny has a tumor in her head (not malignant or brain tumor, but just above the skull).

I feel so sorry for her She plans to take the kids back mid Feb, but we've talked her into keeping just school age kids as they are able to take care of theirselves, and she has the day off to herself when they are in school.

I have tried finding alternative child care but NOTHING and I mean NOTHING is available! My daughter's father has tried looking as well, and same thing.

My work is getting a little fed up with me leaving 2 hours earlier... so frustrating :*(
  • What a rough week
  • Wow, that does sound like a very frustrating week. I hope everything works out soon and your employer can be more understanding!
  • I just spoke with her a few minutes ago. Nanny (Gail) is doing better, the tumor is on her forehead and is what has been complicating her eyes (which she has been getting laser surgery on).

She would really like me bring the kids back to her when she is healthy. I'm happy she is home and is comfortable. The tumor is non-malignant, meaning that with some oral medication, it should help break it up.

I've worked out a plan with a friend and with Todd's dad, FIL will continue driving me each morning (and the kids to school) and the kids will go to a friends house until I can get off of work for the next few weeks.

I can just imagine how scared poor Gail was... I am praying for her and looking forward to her getting healthy again.
