Default Need just a little inspiration!

I always tell myself that I am gonna work out when I get home from work. When I get home I end up being consumed by all the things that I need to do. Then before I know it, it's time to get ready for the next day. That's when I realize that I have gone another day without working out.

Um, you are a grown-up. YOU control your schedule and your priorities. Schedule it, plan it, do it. Very little else should come first. How you spend your time is a real indicator of your priorities. You need to be a bit selfish. You need to put yourself first. You need to do this.
So - (insert Nike slogan here).

I agree with CountingDown...you make your schedule...so schedule it in. Mine is Mon-Fri from 7:30-9:30...sometimes I stay until 10...or like tonight I took Cardio Kickboxing then did my own routine afterwards....Put it on your schedule and stick to it! My bathrooms have needed cleaning for over 2 weeks now...but you know what...my health comes first...if DB doesn't want to clean them...then they can wait until I have some free time outside of my workout....which at this rate..may take awhile...oh well, at least nobody else sees them!

I found that I was too tired a lot of days after work, so I would use ANY excuse to not fit in a workout. I simply have to get my exercise done in the morning, BEFORE anything else, and I have to get up an hour earlier to do it. It is NOT an option. I find that doing it this way makes me feel really good for the rest of the day. It starts the 'system' working really well and I feel nice and awake and ready to face whatever the day wants to throw at me. I also don't feel guilty for the rest of the day, wondering how I am going to get some exercise in. Some days (especially now, during the holidays) I have enough energy to fit another, shorter exercise session in the afternoons, which is just a great bonus.

You may find that you have to MAKE time, just as I did. It truly will make you feel better, physically AND emotionally.

Take care,

Zelma

The last newsletter from my gym's website addressed just this. Here's what they had to say:

"Want more energy?
Date : December 21, 2007

With all the snow we've gotten lately, you must have done
some shoveling.

You get home from work, you shovel, eat supper, relax for a
bit, and then try and muster up some energy to make it to
the gym.

If you're anything like me, it's a huge struggle to get to
the gym after you get done supper and have started to
relax.

You feel tired. There's no way you have enough energy to
train.

I know this feeling, I've been there many times.

And I'm gonna share my solution with you.

DON'T GO HOME AFTER WORK!

That's right, go straight to the gym from work. Take your
gym bag with you in the morning.

I know what you're going to say....."but I'm tired after
work and need to relax."

Get over it, if your bag is packed and you hit the gym
immediately after work, you will feel better once you get
started.

Going home is kind of like, "closing the deal" on the
bodies physical day. The body thinks the day is over. Time
to shut down. Especially if you've had a stressful day.

When you go to the gym and start warming up, getting your
body moving, getting the blood flowing, things will fall
into place.

Trust me on this one. I've had some of my best training
sessions on days when I felt like I was ready for bed
before I hit the gym.

99% of the time, you will leave the gym feeling more
energized and the rest of the evenings tasks will seem like
a piece of cake.

Who's lookin' out for you? "

I am an early bird too, not by nature, but by habit now. I feel more energized all day, eat better all day and its really nice at 6:30 to think "I've already done more today than most people will do all day"

I, too, am an early riser. For me that means I am up at 4:15 and at the gym by 4:45 (hopefully ). But, like you I wanted to go after work (who wants up at 4:15?!) but I just wouldn't do it. I have also found that I feel much better during the day doing it in the morning and I eat better, too!

Good luck to you! Get that motivation back and find the time that works best for YOU!!!
