Default Counterfeit iPods - a rant!

So I had a pretty, pink limited edition ipod shuffle and my husband accidentally sent it through the wash. Oops. He felt bad and knowing they no longer sell the pink ones in stores he turned to ebay. He bought one that explicitly said "apple" and "ipod" in the auction. Well it got here today and it's FAKE! They even had it in an apple case (which I'm guessing was from a real one as it looks like my original one's case). Isn't that illegal? I know people sell the knockoffs AS knockoffs with different brands and that's one thing, but you can't use the real name can you? I looked up this seller's previous auctions and they're all either used DVD's or the "ipods." Thus far noone else has said anything. My husband just sent them an email saying he is obviously very unhappy and will return it once our money is refunded. Is there anything else that should be done about this seller? I guess I'm naive or sheltered or something, but I just can't believe people out there actually do this kind of stuff!

*rant over*

You can report the seller to ebay for selling counterfeit items as real, or even report them for selling counterfeit items period. They are breaking federal laws by selling them. I would report them to both ebay and the Feds (but that's just me). As with buying anything online or elsewhere, caveat emptor. Sorry your iPod got washed, that sucks!
