What's your favorite workout song??

Is there one particular song that gets you really pumped up? I'd like to get some new really upbeat songs, thought I'd ask you all. I like the song chumbawamba - I get knocked down. Just like this weight loss journey, some days you feel like you're 'knocked down', but you 'get up again'. ;)

FitinTime 07-19-2007 09:44 PM

She said her favorite work-out song right now is Waterloo by ABBA

Ellie,
You go some good song choices! I really like alot that you picked especially some of those oldies.
I mentioned that I like Lips Like Sugar earlier, but want to add
K.C and the Sunshine's, Keep it Coming Love
Could it be I'm falling in love, The Spinners
Good Vibrations, Mark Walberg
Rich Girl and Holla back Girl, Gwen Stephani
Anything fast, I love to dance a good work out. It's funny, I can dance longer than I work out.

OnceUponADrive 07-22-2007 09:28 AM

My favorite workout music band is The Fratellis. They've got lots of high energy songs that make you want to dance like crazy. Three best songs are "Henrietta", "Flathead", and "The Gutterati".

aymster 07-22-2007 10:17 AM

Anything sung by Robert Plant. I especially like the "Shine It All Around-Remix" that's after Brother Ray (it's not listed, it's a bonus :D) from the Mighty ReArranger CD. It's got an awesome techno vibe and it makes me work hard on the elliptical. Any rockin' Led Zeppelin hits the spot too! Did I mention I like Robert Plant?

*I also like INXS's greatest hits CD.
*Gwen Steffani's "Holla Back Girl"
*I also like The Tragically Hip and the "Road Apples" CD.

Thanks, Fit! I'm trying to add Rubber Band Man, Under My Thumb (who knew the Stones made so many good workout songs, lol....then again, Mick Jagger is a beanpole so maybe he was onto something!) and Boogie Wonderland (thanks to Happy Feet, lol). The music really does keep me going. I don't do anything for a set time or set count, it's all to the music. In the beginning I used to challenge myself to keep a particular exercise going for the duration of the song. Now, I just change up when I feel like it, just try to keep moving and keep it interesting for myself. :carrot:

EZMONEY 07-22-2007 10:47 AM

Hey TREKKIE ~ You know I always love your music tastes...just not enough Neil Diamond in there ;)

Do the Monkees songs he wrote count? ;) He's actually my favorite. :D He's got more "swaying" music than workout music, though. But I may add Forever in Blue Jeans. :p

This was also my Air Supply dilemma. Love them but it's all ballads. ;)

FitinTime 07-22-2007 11:12 AM

Yeah Neil Diamond too,
What's the one called, Cherry Baby?
That one I can dance to as well as, Salvation Traveling Show, Solitary Man and and the one the Monkees do, A Little Bit, A little bit you.
Good Ones!

EZMONEY 07-22-2007 11:16 AM

Of course! TREKKIE I grew up in the MONKEES era...I can still remember the junior high girls debating on who was cuter..DAVY ~ PETER ~ MIKE or MICKEY ........us boys just didn't really understand it! We were probably too busy looking at pictures of Haley Mills

EZMONEY 07-22-2007 11:21 AM

Yep FIT Cherry Cherry ...she got the way to groove me;)

My high school girlfriend and I were big Neil fans...she always wanted to sing that song "SHERRY SHERRY" for the obvious reason ...fun times!

trekkiegirl 07-22-2007 11:26 AM

What debate? It was Micky Dolenz, of course. :cloud9:

Hmmm...I'll have to revisit my Neil collection and see what I can pull out. :D

FitinTime 07-22-2007 11:29 AM

I always had a crush on Mike. I always went for the quiet silent type. I could not resist his voice when he sang "Joanne".
Swooonnn!!!

trekkiegirl 07-22-2007 11:55 PM

Oh, I liked when Mike sang "You Just May Be The One" and "Door Into Summer." Actually, one of my favorite Monkees songs that I don't think I mentioned on the playlist is one he wrote and Micky sang, "Mary, Mary." Oh, I do have another Neil Diamond on my mp3..."Hey, Louise." Only if you've seen The Jazz Singer do you remember that one. :p

We just got our oldies station back in NYC (WCBS-FM, what used to be Cousin Brucie's station) after 2 years of JACK-FM (ugh). A few months before it was unceremoniously banished, Micky had become the morning deejay. I'd love to hear him come back.

lizziness 07-23-2007 12:08 AM

I like to work out to fast paced music and also to songs that make me feel somehow empowered.

My favorite work out songs:

Cake - Short Skirt, Long Jacket, Sheep go to Heaven & Shut the @#$% up
Fiona Apple - Sleep to Dream & Criminal
Lords of Acid - most specifically Lady Marmalade & Rough Sex
PWEI (I don't expect anybody to know who this is)

Robsia 07-24-2007 08:33 AM

So here's where you're hiding Tina!! I have just come back after going a bit mad with this pregnancy and putting on a little more than I wanted. I have rejoined our "1 pound down" group and was wondering where you had got to.

Come back to us sweetie!!

BlueToBlue 07-25-2007 03:59 AM

I need fast music for the cardio machines! Some of my favs right now are:
  • Check On It - Destiny's Child
  • Get Me Bodied - Beyonce (love the line "a little sweat never hurt nobody"!)
  • Beautiful Life - Ace of Base
  • Taste of Dis - Brooke Valentine (love the line "I'm looking good, I'm feeling good, I'm pedicured, I think I'm ready"!)
  • Pass Us By - Brooke Valentine
  • DOA - Foo Fighters
  • Candyman - Christina Aguilera
  • What Are You Waiting For? - Gwen Stefani
  • Head to Toe - Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam
  • Istanbul not Constantinople - They Might Be Giants
  • Family Affair - Mary J. Blige
  • Hey Baby - No Doubt
  • Cold Hearted Snake - Paula Abdul
  • Get the Party Started - Pink
  • Shut Up and Drive - Rihanna
  • This is How a Heart Breaks - Rob Thomas
  • I Want You - Savage Garden
  • C'Mon C'Mon (Theme from Rescue Me) - The Von Bondies (My SO found this one for me--he was really excited to discover that it was an actual song)

I have a separate play list for running that includes a lot more 80's songs.

mandalinn82 07-27-2007 08:37 PM

My current fave is a little weird and probably most of you haven't heard of it, but...

Fanfare for the Common Man - Emerson, Lake, and Palmer

You'd all recognize the basic piece (its a classical piece by Aaron Copland), but the ELP version is really upbeat and somehow makes me feel like I'm an olympic athlete, headed toward a finish line. NOTHING makes me move faster on the elliptical.

GatorgalstuckinGA 07-27-2007 09:53 PM

i have a wide mix in my ipod...but my "exercise" file is mostly hard pumping music that gets me going like:
Headsprung - L.L. cool j
Animal - Nickelback
several of P!nk's songs including Cuz i can, God is a Dj, and trouble
I think i love you - a cover by less than jake
pump it - black eye peas (this one always gets me really going...great workout song)
those are just a few...there's a few new songs i need to download too..but that's a small sample

Ohhkay8 07-27-2007 10:45 PM

Okay this is going to sound totally lame... but keep in mind I have little sisters and it's all their fault!!!! :D

Buuuut... Hannah Montana gets me pumped up for a good workout.

There. I said it. Please be kind. :o

FrouFrou 07-28-2007 12:28 PM

Whip It...Devo
Fighter...Christina Aguilera
U Got The Look...Prince
C'Mon, C'Mon...Von Bondies
Let's Get It Started...Black Eyed Peas
Somebody Told Me...The Killers
Mickey...??? This is a GREAT & funny work out song for me, lol!
Dancing on the Ceiling...Lionel Ritchie
Ain't No Stopping me Now...McFadden & Whitehead
Shake Your Groove Thang...Peaches & Herb
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun...Cyndi Lauper

Too many songs to name, lol.

trekkiegirl 08-12-2007 02:57 PM

Ooooh, I just found another song I HAVE to add to my playlist. "I Like It Like That" by Tito Nieves. It came on the radio earlier and I couldn't stop moving. :carrot:
Yeahhhh baby, I like it like that! :D

Idealmuse 08-12-2007 03:17 PM

I doubt anyone here knows this one, but for some reason I always really liked the beat in the song "Go Film" by Covenant when I was out doing my walking.
