Exclamation Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest

Well, I don't know about all of you but watching this looks so disgusting. Only in America can you become a champion of gluttony. Ironic enough they are all pretty much skinny too. What's up with that??

Nathan's is ok, I personally prefer Portillos, if anyone's been to Chicago Illinois, or is planning a trip there, Portillos are all over the place and DEFINITELY THE BEST HOTDOG EVER!

Some trivia: This year's winner ate 66 hotdogs in 12 minutes (a new record). I checked the Nathan's site, and each hotdog has about 300 calories... so that's 19,800 calories in just 12 minutes!

66 hot dogs would be a lot to eat in a week, let alone 12 minutes! That is absolutely grotesque. I would be sick for weeks after that. That's incredible, the calorie count. I know the guy that usually wins the competition is this little skinny Asian kid...was it him again?

Oh... I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it (actually, I haven't seen it). So.... SPOILER ALERT!!!! Don't read further if you don't wanna know...

The winner was an American named Joey Chestnut. He ate an amazing 66 hotdogs AND buns in 12 minutes. The six-time champ, Takeru Kobayashi, came in 2nd with 63 hotdogs and buns. The previous record, from last year, was 53 3/4.

I don't think I'd even want to eat 1, much less 66. And many of them are skinny, aren't they!!!! I guess they don't eat like that all the time...

The winner last year and for many previous years is from Japan where he has won many many titles for eating Japanese food. It isn't only in America.

That said, I watched it. Joey is a local boy. I can't get over how skinny many of them were. There was a 62 yr old man who was a string bean!

I won't watch again. It was turning my stomach. Sooner or later, someone is going to die.

Just thinking about hot dogs turns my stomach! I watched the first few minutes and left the room. It's pretty disgusting. But also weird how they aren't all fat!

I read a theory somewhere once that a skinny person would be able to beat a fatter (for lack of a better word?)/heavier person in a competitive eating contest because they do not have a "belt of fat" around their abdomen, allowing their stomach to expand much larger. It does make some sense though.

These hot-dog-eating and other pig-out contests have always existed at the county-fair level, but why have they gotten to be national news all of a sudden? The national media never used to cover them, and I'm not sure I like the mixed message this sends as we wring hands about the obesity epidemic

I'm around 110-115 lbs and can eat more than twice the amount of my friends (and have it fit in my stomach) who are around 170 lbs. My stomach is literally a rubberband.
