If a thread fell in the forest and nobody heard would it still make a sound?

bargoo 12-17-2010 09:24 AM

Was the thread in a needle at the time it fell ?

Ruthxxx 12-17-2010 09:29 AM

Buttonhole thread? Embroidery thread? Quilting thread? Silk or cotton?

Please be more specific!

EZMONEY 12-17-2010 09:33 AM

Are you ladies in my house? Angie is eating breakfast and mentioning how nice the sewing machines on sale are and that hers is 23 years old 'cause that is how old my step-d will be on Saturday....

strange....

BillBlueEyes 12-17-2010 09:44 AM

. . .
Rule 5 - Never, NEVER, NEVER assume that you know a woman well enough to give an appliance as a gift. Just don't. It doesn't sail. You may reach an intense level of intimacy - including that which results in children - buy you can never reach the level that welcomes an appliance as a gift.
. . .

[I'm not saying. I'm just saying.]

bargoo 12-17-2010 09:52 AM

For once I agree with Bill. Appliances are not gifts ! They are needed to run our households but never, never, never , never should be given as a gift. Any appliance given as a gift could result in a long ,cold spell.

Ruthxxx 12-17-2010 10:05 AM

One Christmas, my ex gave me a set of nutcrackers. I felt like using them on him!
If you do give her a sewing machine, give something nicer along with it.

bargoo 12-17-2010 10:26 AM

Gary, just get her the sewing machine but don't call it a gift. Now, a diamond bracelet would be a gift and suitably rewarded.

:D What in the world could be nicer than a sewing machine? We already have a nice toaster.

:) Seriously, if I got her one she would be more  that I wasted $$ on something she wouldn't use too much. She does use it and is on a kick now of making little credit card holders, kids book bags and other stuff for fun...AND...she did mention that when that GRANDbaby is born she may be interested in a new one...IF....she was still on her sewing kick...she knits, she sews, she restores furniture, she makes wine glass markers and other things....

ANYTHING she can to keep herself busy from me ;)

EZMONEY 12-18-2010 08:39 AM

When I need some background "noise' for my afternoon nap, I always put on the Threadkiller.....

snooooze......

BillBlueEyes 12-18-2010 01:20 PM

"The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here.
But they will never forget speeches they learned in the sixth grade."

Ruthxxx 12-18-2010 01:23 PM

"Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.' "

EZMONEY 12-18-2010 01:38 PM

Ahh...6th grade...."I spin the bottle then I WHAT?!"

BillBlueEyes 12-18-2010 09:37 PM

That you Lenore?
"For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels named Lenore"

Ruthxxx 12-19-2010 06:35 AM

"Nameless here forevermore."

Hey, Bill! We sure could bore people quickly at parties. Look how well we do in here!

BillBlueEyes 12-19-2010 06:45 AM

We could charge for our services,
Guests staying too late?
Consuming all your booze?
Wish you could go to bed?

Hire the boring duo - Edgar Alan Poe our specialty, but we also do Hair and other stuff from the sixties - your house will be empty within 15 minutes.
We could charge extra if they were to leave and never return since that takes extra effort.

EZMONEY 12-19-2010 08:05 AM

If there is going to be a test I better study......

Just don't invite your boring guests to the Hotel California.

They can checkout any time they like,
But they can never leave!

Mutters - Talkin' about boring posts like there's a rule for interesting...

bargoo 12-19-2010 10:16 AM

Or the Bates Motel where " You can check in but never check out "

WebRover 12-19-2010 10:38 AM

. . .
Rule 6 - (aka WebRover's Rule) All posts must be interesting as adjudicated by The Committee at its regular meeting. All rulings are final; there is no appeal. You may checkout of this thread at any time, but you may never leave (Hotel California amendment). Membership on The Committee is by popular vote at regular elections. All are to obey its dictates.
. . .

[We each agreed to this when we signed up.]

The Hotel California amendment has been superceded by The Bates Motel Amendment.

EZMONEY 12-19-2010 03:33 PM

This thread is physco.....:yikes:

WebRover 12-19-2010 03:41 PM

Not saying anything about the sanity of it's participants, especially members of The Committee.

Should I be afraid to shower?

Yes - Don't Shower, Don't tell is the Bates Motel Amendment, which is, apparently, the current amendment.

But then again, if you have friends, be afraid not to shower also.

WebRover 12-19-2010 06:09 PM

Perhaps it is the friends who should be afraid if she doesn't shower.

zanheltangia 12-20-2010 07:33 AM

...

Alright, who passed out the silly? That was for after New Years! :(

bargoo 12-20-2010 09:40 AM

Kindly turn the page.

I remember that scream in the theater; totally unexpected. If I wasn't pretty young at the time, I'd have had a heart attack.
