One forum I frequent has a bunch of college brats and grads who think they are all so danged smart and the working class Joe is stupid and lazy. Now, they can't make it to work or class, so they are hanging out on their computers.

Well, those computers on running on the copper I was pulling out of the ground and powered by the coal my X is pulling out and being converted to power by a bunch of Joes at the power plant. Those guys have to get to work no matter what or it all shuts down. If they really can't make it, the dude's there have to stick it out till the other can can relieve them. I think my X has missed 3 days in 30 years at the most. I've never missed work although a couple of times it took me over 2 hrs. to make a 30 min. trip. And these punks have the nerve to put down the guys who keep it all running.

On this forum, I just do it cause, well ****, it's fun to be mean. Nyah, nyah, nyah. :p

Operator-I totally agree!! My DH is one of those Joe's running a power plant, but there's a bunch of college boys who "think" they're running it, but just keep making my DH's job harder and more dangerous every day. I don't know why management somewhere decided that number-crunchers would be able to run a plant where they don't even know a pump from a turbine:mad:. And, then, there's my BIL, who fiddles with a computer every day and gets paid to travel and makes more money than God, but treats us like we're less than dirt, because our house cost less than $80K, even though he couldn't do his job if my DH didn't do the "menial" work.

And, while I'm on a roll here, risking ticking off everyone on the East coast-another thing I'm really tired of is their whining about how bad the snow has made it over there. Ummmmmm, gee, sorry, but THAT'S WHAT WE PUT UP WITH EVERY YEAR FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS, SO GET OVER IT!!!

OK, thanks, feeling much better now.....:D

What burns my butt is all we hear about is how Americans must improve "productivity". Well, up at the mine, they decided to see if they could save money by shutting down the trucks for shift change. All us "oldies" told them that doing that would mess up the starters and turbos. Experience has taught us that a long time ago. But, what the heck to we know. So after experimenting for a year, wasting time getting mechanics to start trucks that wouldn't start back up, having production stopped b/c they'd go down at the fuel island, and replacing heaven knows how many starters and turbos, the little college geniuses came back to tell us that shutting down the trucks for that short a time was a really bad idea. :dz: Oh, and that our bonus checks would be smaller due to the half million dollars they blew on this experiment.
