Soup??

  • I am new to this board and I have been following SB for 2 weeks now with much success. My question is are campbell's cream of mushroom, celery, or chicken legal?
  • Can you list the ingredients? Of hand, I really don't know as I don't use it.

Please feel free to join us on our SB WEEKLY SUPPORT BOARD where we all tend to congregate

  • the main ingredients are water, celery, modified food starch, wheat flour, and cream.

I have always heard they were legal, but should be used in moderation.

  • The wheat flour may be refined -- in fact, I'll bet it is. You know how every item you pick up with wheat in it has the word "enriched" in front of it? That means they have taken all the nutrition out of the wheat flour processing it and then they return some nutrition back to it -- that's what "enriched" means. I bet the wheat flour referred to in Campbell's soups means it is enriched and therefore, too refined for SB.

  • What, pray tell, is the logic behind taking the good stuff out of the flour, and then putting it back in again?? Sounds like a waste of time.
  • so, in other words, when it says enriched, avoid it???
  • 'Fraid so Sugary.
  • Anything that says enriched wheat flour or even wheat flour is white flour. It has to say stone ground wheat flour or 100% whole wheat and not have added "wheat flour" in the ingredients after whole wheat. Sometimes they put a mixture of whole wheat and wheat flour in breads. Like the honey wheat breads, etc.
