Footlong sub?
Ok so I was really hungry and had a whole 12" sub today from subway! lol anyone else eat a whole foot long? I had italian bread, 2 roasted chicken breast, and just a bunch of veggies and a little honey mustard. No cheese! I figured this was about 500-600 calories. I ate it with a bunch of baby carrots. I did have a peanut butter sandwich around 11 and that was it. So this sub will probably end it for the eating today.
Guess I just feel like a pig for eating a foot long sub! haha |
i have too lol

You can go to subways site and calculate the calories given the ingredients. When I put in the sub you described, it said 700 calories.

hmm..I got 190 calories for 6" italian white bread so..380 for the bread, 100 calories for the chicken breast, 2 so..200. 580 so far and veggies can't be but so much. So maybe with the veggies and a squirt of honey mustard made it 700. lol, I know I didn['t go over my 1500 for the day anyway. That's all that matters I guess.

I've definitely done it! I usually get a 6' turkey on wheat, but once in a while when I've got plenty of calories left and I'm feeling particularly hungry I'll get a 12' and eat 3/4 of it or all of it.
The Subway nutritional calculator says your sub was 640 cals, 10g fat, and a nice 46g protein. You could do a lot worse for a meal! One trick at Subway for reducing the calories (and carbs) in your sub - ask the person making the sandwich to remove some of the bread from the middle of the roll. Most places at which I've asked they know exactly what I'm talking about, and just dig some of the bread out of the center. I don't know exactly how many calories/carbs it reduces the sandwich by, but by the looks of it they remove about 25% of the roll - and so you're probably looking at a savings of a good 50 calories and 10g carbs for a 6-inch. I find I don't miss the extra bread at all. |
Oh gosh yes, i could and have eaten many of them. Not piggish I don't think. Great if you can get LOTS of food for not so many cals!! xxx

chickadee32...wow thanks, I didn't even think about asking them to cut the bread down, and I think it would make a calorie difference.

I used to eat a foot long Meatballs or Vegie Delight with swiss cheese and all the salads and no sauce. That used to be lunch when I worked days.
Now I buy fish or chicken and put them in foil and cook in the oven for 30 mins. |
I like subs, but I guess I am a bread person too. I eat bread everyday lol. I love tomato sandwiches with a little mayo and pepper. mmm. or toast with peanut butter for a snack. I don't know if you guys have a golden corral near you, but I could eat their rolls just for dinner! I quit eating there a long time ago though.

Haha funny enough... I just polished off a footling veggie sub for dinner! I ate half, and had planned to save the rest for later, but later ended up being about 40 minutes! It was delicious :)

ohh i feel like such a fatty... i'd order italian bread with chicken teriyaki and stuff it full of sauces and cheese... AND i'd finish the entire foot within 15 min... my friend berated me once and i was really shocked to find out the normal serving size was half a foot.

Well I knew I was going to eat the whole thing, that's why I only did roasted chicken and veggies and a little honey mustard..lol. My husband and I usually go and split one, but he wasn't with me....muahahhaha..

Oh yeah, I've done it. Many times, even. I love the meatball subs with pepper jack cheese, lots of veggies, and ranch dressing. BUT I don't allow myself to eat that anymore. But I could definitely eat a whole foot long any day of the week.

Oh yeah, I've done it. LOL.

Sometimes you just want a big meal.
I haven't eaten a footlong sub in a while, but there are times I just want to eat without having to put half aside or whatever, so I purposely order something low calorie so I can just eat it all. Most times I can't, lol, but it's always nice to have that option. ;) |
