I bought some Brown Rice Spaghetti. How does this really taste? How close is it to regular spaghetti? I'm trying to decide if I should cook it for the entire family or just for me.
Modest grumble: Do you notice that if it's made with some grain other than wheat (or spelt which is a kind of wheat), it's always labeled as "spaghetti-STYLE pasta"? I suppose it's some FDA regulation or lobbying from the durum wheat industry that considers only wheat-based pasta to be TRUE spag, mac or whatever, while pasta made with any other grain must be considered an imitation, but as long as the base ingredient is listed prominently on the label, why can't they say "brown rice spaghetti"? And why not "pasta-STYLE noodles"?
Well, I won't be giving my review of it tomorrow - I'm not even making it! I got so confused with my calorie counting - that I thought I had too many calories at lunch (I totally messed up with "serving size".) Now it turns out that I overestimated and can have it but it's too late to cook the sauce now -
Ok tomorrow is another day.........I'll come back and give my review next week.
Wow! Made it tonight with the recipe for "Doug's Marinara Sauce". It was great. I once had whole wheat pasta and hated it. The brown rice spaghetti was really really tasty. I'd definitely make it again and even the family loved it!
OK. Now I'm going to try it. I'm not a big whole wheat pasta fan. In fact, I'm not a pasta fan (except Asian noodles). I saw it in the store a while back. I love rice. I love brown rice. If I can have my rice and boobalah can have his pasta, then this might be the best of both worlds.
