Raw Veggies

Can anyone suggest some "raw veggies" to eat during the day besides carrots, cucumbers, and peppers? I'm kind of getting sick of them and would like something different. I don't like eating raw celery and I don't eat mushrooms at all (no fungus among us!) so don't bother suggesting those :D

How about broccoli with a little bit of low cal. ranch dressing?? That's about all i got because i really don't like raw vegetables. :-(

I only like broccoli cooked =( And I hate cauliflower, raw or cooked!

I suppose I could pick up some cherry tomatoes. I just thought of that. I'll add it to my list this week.

I love to cut up courgettes (zucchini) in strips - I buy the small ones and cut them in strips like carrots, but you definitely have to eat them that day - they go rather mushy in the fridge. Blah.

I also like radishes for a bit of a 'punch' - I hate cauliflower, but I know people do eat that raw - and I am a HUGE fan of snow peas - yum!

Hope it helps! :D

Hah! Posted at the same time! Cauliflower - YUCK! :D

Cauliflower is excellent. You may also want to try kolorabi....I think that's spelled correctly! It's a root veggie that my grandparents used to grow, so you may need to look for it at a farmers market. Looks sorta like a white bulb, we used to actually cut bites/pieces off of it and eat it with a tiny bit of salt. Same texture as a raddish.

Jicama, grape tomatoes, sugar snap peas

Might just want to peruse your grocery store veggie section and see what might appeal to you raw.

Thanks everyone! I will try the peas, those sound good :) I've been eating raw veggies lately because I got sick of having a salad every day in order to get in the majority of my vegetables. Now I'm getting sick of those, but I know its just because I'm eating the same ones a lot. Keep the recommendations coming!

Edamame (soybeans) are yummy.

I usually get a random supply of vegetables at the grocery store, cut them up, and use a handful for a lunch vegetable every day. Most of the ones I get have been mentioned - broccoli, grape tomatoes, snowpeas, peppers, radishes (whatever is in season, on sale, or looks good) - but I'd also add red and yellow peppers, and asparagus.

Green bell peppers are sometimes really good raw, but sometimes a bit bitter, so if the price difference isn't ridiculous, I will buy the red, yellow, and purple varieties to eat raw. I also love the snow and snap peas. I prefer snap peas, and if you happen to have a Sam's club membership, you can buy a huge bag for the price of a little bag in the regular grocery store. We don't have a membership, but often our Walmart hands out day passes, or we go with a relative who does have a pass. Farmer's markets are great to.

I also like kohlrabi, which taste alot like the core of a cabbage. I like cabbage raw too, but it's hard to cut into handy pieces. Bok Choy and savoy cabbage are a little easier to cut into sticks. I've heard you can eat japanese eggplant raw, but I only roast it. Blanched green beans are good. They're technically not raw, but you steam or boil them just long enough to be tender-crisp, and the refridgerate them to eat like raw veggies.

I love them too but not raw! Unless they have been cooked first (which they usually are), they are not a good eat, IMO :(

Raw french-style green beans are good to nibble on.

Asparagus is good raw if you can find the thinner ones. The large ones are too woody to eat raw. I also like turnips raw (peeled.) They are actually quite sweet when eaten raw. All my other suggestions have already been mentioned.

How about eggplant?
