Howdy,
I did 2 mile this morning. I was wearing my daughter's pedometer while exercising and the mile read was 0.64. I am taller than her, so I need to recalibrate the walking to my stride. I will also have DD do it with her setings before changing them to get 2 readings. Has anyone verified the accuracy of the WATP videos?
Though my stride would be different from DD, my tempo/beats walking was the exact same as Leslie's.
Thanks,
Karen, Pardon me while I butt in here. I've done a few Leslie recently while wearing a ped and the miles never come out right. I don't think some of the steps {such as sidesteps} 'count' on the ped. I did a 3 mile walk resetting my ped at the beginning and after I was finished my ped read exactly 2 miles. I had my mom check my ped as I was walking down the hall and she said it changed every time I took a step, so I think the ped is okay.

Hope that helps.
I will post DD and my results (recalibrated) tomorrow. The distances aren't even close to the stated distances. Perhaps side steps don't count but any movement seems to register as a step. I will post the ped brand tomorrow. DD has a ped in her Nike as opposed to
the waist clip model I am using. I had the same thought that maybe the ped is wrong so will be interested in DD other one. However, based on some web searches, this distance confusion is typical. Question for me is, what is really going on.
I have been enjoying Leslie Sansone's WATP videos. As an engineer, I began wondering how one culd substantiate the assertion of walking a mile in 12-14 minutes in home as she does. This led me into the pedometer world, # steps for good health and its corresponding relation to measurement in distance.
After further research, I realized that a ped is relying on strides as a measure of distance whereas WATP is relying on steps (side, tap, kicks, knee lifts) which aren't the same. This information in and of itself is good to know.
So the next question is whether there is a bench mark to see if the claims are reasonable. It typically takes 20 min to walk at a leisurely pace, 15 min at a brisk pace. So the ranges of Leslie's brisk walks (between 12-14 min) is reasonable for a mile.
So I am satisfied that when I say I have done 2 miles, I in fact have done 2 miles. Yesterday, as I was making these observations, I ended up doing 3 miles, 2 in the morning and one at night.
And as DH, who is a physicist pointed out, do I like the exercises, do not I want to go longer in time, and am I seeing good results?
2 mile with warm up and 4 # used during cool down. I feel so much better after doing these videos.
I also have found I do not feel any hungrier after doing them as well. I have seen others needing to boost their calories but I haven't found that to be the case for me.
I did 3.1 miles this morning I used the 5K with a Twist dvd and did all the jogging that Leslie did. It has been so long since I used that dvd that it felt like I had a new one

hope everybody has a great day!

I just got the 5k with a twist workout and Im dying to try it, Ill probably do Friday or Monday when I schedule my 3 Mile walk! Sounds great!
Howdy,
Did 2 miles of the 5 mile Slim with warm ups followed by weights during cool down. I am looking forward to this weekend to try out a 2 mile walk all terrain. I prefer to exercise right after breakfast. My body feels so nice all day long.
