I need recommendations for Strength Training DVD's.
For those of us who can't get to a GYM or afford a personal trainer, are there any recommendations someone can give us as far as DVD's go? One or more that will give us that full body Strength training workout that we can just pop in and do 3 times a week? I know we'll need dumbells, bands and ankle weights too, but I really do not have the knowledge yet as what I need to be working and I'd really like to just be able to pop something in the DVD player and go until I can learn and make up my own workout.
I actually just started Jari Love Get Ripped. You can look her up on Amazon or Collagevideo for reviews.
It is only strength training. She does hi reps with low weight. I am using what I have 8 and 3lb dumb bells and with that I am defintely feeling it. You're also supposed to have a mat for leg lifts and ab work, and a step for the chest work, but I just do those on my mat.
If you try her, and you'll read this in all the reviews, start out with lower weight and work your way up. You can see a preview of her on collage video. It is pretty no nonsense and straight to the point, but a good workout and over before you know it.
She has several videos check out the review to see which one is right for you. I choose the first since it seemed easier than the others and gave me a chance to build up to the rest.
Ooh, Thank you so much! I have several Kathy Smith DVD's already, so I'll def check that one out! Thank you too Obsidianbbw, I'll check it out while I'm @ the Amazone site
I would recommend Kathy Smith if just starting strength training - or the Firm. I liked KS more. I was using Jari Love (I'm doing T-Tapp right now) and really, really like her. Get Ripped (her first one) is actually my least favorite out of her four but it is a great one to start with - in fact, I wouldn't try the others without doing that one first for awhile. I have a bunch of Cathe Freidrich workouts as I used to workout with her for over a year and half but burnt myself out on her - she is advanced though.
I got Kathy Smith- Lift to Lose Weight 2 and did it today. I liked it, but it seemed too advanced for me right now and I spent a good bit of time just watching them do it. Perhaps in time I'll get better. I am a bit shakey and sore, so we'll see. Any other suggestions that will be easier? It's hard for me to do some of the things she was doing because of my size. I am severly out of shape...but I'm trying.....Perhaps, I'll get a Jari Love workout and see how it goes too.
I also like Cathe Friedrich. I've taped/watched her shows off of FitTV so I can't remember the titles. If you have DirectTv, you could watch her there and see what you think. She is somewhat advanced. Also Netflix has some of her titles.
