Talking Hey there - I'm new - join me in a challenge?

Hello – I’m Phish and I’m new here. I have about 10-12 lbs to lose. I currently weigh 130.6 and would like to get down to 120. I’m a little over 5’2. I am a runner and have no problem with exercise, I just have been eating a lot of crap lately. I am challenging myself to eat only whole foods in Oct. I hope to jump start some weight loss that way. I’ll let you guys know how it goes. I am going to build my meals out of – fruits, veggies (no white potatoes), brown rice, oatmeal, lowfat dairy and lean meat, nothing else! Goodbye south beach bars, good bye 100 cal packs, goodbye beer! I’m also going to cut back on diet soda and splenda. Very ambitious for me, but I hate that I have not lost any weight in like year! I took up running in Jan and can now run half marathons, but my body does not reflect it. Grrrrr.

Anyway - if anyone would like to join me in a month long whole foods challenge, let me know.

I might be into doing this. I attempted it at the start of Sept, but a few days in i got the worst sugar cravings and I caved in. *blush* I might be able to stick to it if I had a teammate!

How did you start running? I have never been a runner. How long did it take you to be able to run any kind of distance?

I will join you--I switched to the WW Core Plan (after 2 years on Flex), so it is basically a Whole Foods way of eating.

So far, not a week of great joy. I miss the breakfasts I used to eat--even tho. they were whole grain, some of the food isn't Core and I would have to use my Flex points if I wanted to eat it (GoLean waffles, as an example).

I'll post in a few days and let you know how I did.

Hey Phish! I already do alright with the whole foods(especially since I started my 21 day challenge banning sweets), but I'm game for going all out until my birthday on the 25th. Except for wine. I like my weekend wine. But can I still join in for the food bit???

Hi ladies! Sorry I was out of town all weekend. I would love some teammates, even if some of you are having cheat days. It is 1.5 days into the month so far and I am rocking. I even lost .4 lbs from yesterday! But I also ran 10 miles so I am probably a bit dehydrated. LOL. I have been yo-yoing for so long, mark my words, Oct is my month. I will lost at least 5 lbs. I started at 130.6.

Pia – I started running in Jan. of this year and I am already up to 14 miles. I ran my first Half marathon a few weeks back and have another this Sunday. I am doing the Cleveland marathon in May 2007. I had never run in my life and decided to pick it up. It was so hard at first, but I progressed pretty quickly. Once I got over the 3 mile hump, it came pretty easily. Once you get your breathing down, the rest is cake. I never thought I would be a runner. I’m slow, but I love doing it and have made some great friends thru various running groups. I run about a 9:30-10 min mile. But running did nothing for my weight. My legs are shaped better though, but it makes you really hungry and I have had a hard time learning a good balance with foods. You want to eat like a horse after running for 2 hours, but you really can’t. My little spare tire proves it. Boooo!
