Tuesday (11th) to Tuesday (18th) clean eats challenge!

I'm committing to a whole week of clean eating. :D

It can be done - It's easy. ;)

srmb60 07-10-2006 06:07 PM

Oh Jen! A whole week??? OK, I'll try. One day at a time right?
How clean do you mean? Can it be 'in the eye of the beholder'?
I'd like to keep my percentages >30 protein, >30 carbs and <30 fats.

Oi! For a whole week? What am I saying?

3fcuser1058250 07-10-2006 11:12 PM

I'll try this... 30/30/30 is good Susan... I've got to keep it at 1400 too...
:coach: Report back tomorrow girls...

srmb60 07-11-2006 07:04 PM

I'm doing all right so far. We had a "birthday buffet" at work today but I only ate vegetables and fruit ... the trick was the dip! So I have to correct a fat imbalance with my evening snack :)

3fcuser1058250 07-11-2006 07:09 PM

I've done good today too

2frustrated 07-12-2006 03:55 AM

 Clean in the eye of the beholder ;)

Yesterday I was off work poorly sick. So I ate cleaner than I would've done on a usual sick day! I had cottage cheese pancakes and quorn sausages, whereas usually I pig out on biscuits and ice cream. I had ice cream and fish and chips for dinner, since DF was hungry and I wasn't cooking, so we went out for dinner :o ... What am I saying? Yesterday was a bust! But I was sick, so I'm starting today.

Done good so far today, whole-grain cereal with soya milk and a scoop of protein powder. I've got cc pancakes, protein shake and jacket potato with cottage cheese for work-food. Unfortunately it's visitor's day, which means buffet. Oooops. I think I'm going to play my "sick" card and say it stole my appetite. Any decent excuse. Tonight I'm going to do a chicken veggie stir-fry with brown and wild rice. Not got any exercise planned for today, I'm recouperating ;)

2frustrated 07-12-2006 09:44 AM

I avoided the buffet at work! I had a protein shake at my desk and chewed gum while I was schmoosing with the peeps :D Not a sandwich nor a pork pie has passed my lips

I still feel sick though :barf:

As for %s when I'm cardio-ing (most days) I try to keep at 50% carbs, 25% pro and 25% fat, days when I'm not cardio-ing, just as much protein as I can get in and I try not to worry too much about the rest. However today is looking a little low on fat (12%) so I might have to have some nut-butter or something... We'll see what happens, at this rate I won't be hungry for my afternoon meal
Oh and calories, about 1600-1800

srmb60 07-12-2006 05:02 PM

Tuesday's assessment .... I had 1821 calories .... 21% protein, 44% carbs and 26% fat and 9% Coors lite.
Not too bad. I really need to get my finances in order and get back to my protein powder! Whew!

3fcuser1058250 07-12-2006 11:18 PM

Wednesday is good...

1440 cals
28% fat
29% carbs
33% protein
11% wine

2frustrated 07-13-2006 03:53 AM

Wed was good, C 51%, Pro 34% Fat 15% with 1734 calories :D

I did slip in a tiny ginger cookie, but I also now have a Dr Phil's "No Fail" kitchen. I threw out all of my creme eggs  and some open packets of sweets that have been hanging around for years and I've never really eaten anyway.

srmb60 07-13-2006 03:01 PM

Wednesday was OK but my proteins are low. 21/52/22

Today is better.

3fcuser1058250 07-13-2006 09:03 PM

Today:

1483 cals
34% fat
33% carbs
30% protein

2frustrated 07-14-2006 03:44 AM

Not bad yesterday - quite low cals (for a Thursday) but I was so mad after KB that I didn't want to eat, then got up in the middle of the night and had a couple of oatcakes.

Cals 1616, F 28% C 51% P 21%, so a bit low protein and a bit high in fat, but ok.

Today looks ok, not sure about dinner but I'll find something healthy.

3fcuser1058250 07-14-2006 08:32 AM

This may be UNunderstanding of me, but I could never figure out why or how anyone could get up in the middle of the night and :hun: ... ... Lock the friggen cabinets 2f and go to BED

2frustrated 07-14-2006 08:50 AM

It's wierd, but I can't sleep if I'm knaw-ingly hungry. I would try and chew my arm off in my sleep! ;)

Some people have a wierd dissorder thing where they sleep-eat :spin:

3fcuser1058250 07-14-2006 01:43 PM

2f - Do you go to bed hungry when you wake up in the middle of the night? I know I'm curious ;)

2frustrated 07-17-2006 04:10 AM

 If I go to bed hungry, I'll usually end up getting up for the bathroom and eating something too!

As for clean eats, weekend wasn't disasterous, but I did eat quite a bit more than planned, however I only had a couple of cookies, a little tiny cream cake, some sweets and another cookie that was  over the WHOLE weekend! I ate too much of most other stuff though! Plenty of fruit and veg - 9 portions on Saturday, maybe not so much on Sunday.

This morning doing well, been out for a run and feeling positive for the rest of the week.

I'm wearing all black today - I was going for the Ninja look, but when I realised how tight my trousers were I'm now going for the "black is slimming" look! :o

3fcuser1058250 07-17-2006 09:49 AM

Before going to bed hungry, instead maybe you should have some cottage cheese and strawberries or a protein shake and that would prevent you from waking up hungry. Also when you eat in the middlel of the night aren't you tired in the morning because of the break in your sleep...

3fcuser1058250 07-17-2006 09:55 AM

My weekend was good exercise wise, food wise it was so-so... But I was down 2# this morning so that is a good thing...

:coach: Susan where are you??

softballmom 07-17-2006 11:42 AM

May I jump in? I know the week is almost gone (maybe we can start for another week Wednesday?). I just got back from vacation and had already dedicated the remainder of July to clean eats only.

I like seeing how your percentages weigh out. I try for 25F/55C/25-30P, but I can't seem to get my protein anywhere close to 30%. I'm thinking protein drinks/shakes might be in order. How do these work (say, how often do you have them), and what have you found to be the best flavored? I prefer anything over vanilla flavor, or do they have flavors? Where do you usually find/buy? Any other tips on adding protein to eating that will not drag the fats up?

2frustrated 07-18-2006 04:58 AM

Yesterday was 1670kcals P23 f22 C54. bit low protein wise, but I felt happy :D

As for lean protein, chicken breasts, turkey breasts, cottage cheese, lean pork cuts, tuna, salmon, cod, haddock, egg whites

To get your protein %s high, you really should aim to be eating a protein portion with every meal, whether you eat 3 meals or 6 meals a day.

srmb60 07-18-2006 09:41 AM

Girls, I'm sorry to have desserted you. Although I'm eternally grateful to the college boy for letting me use his laptop ... between it and our dial up .... this is soooo slow. It's literally 20 minutes since I first typed 3fatchicks in the address bar.
I am going to have a shot at reading a bit tho' and I do have a plan for today.

alinnell 07-18-2006 12:15 PM

Well, back from vacation and I gained back a couple of pounds. I'm not giving in and I'm not changing my ticker until I re-lose those pounds and start with new losses! I ate pretty clean yesterday, and dropped half a pound:
1114 cals
34% fat
28% carb
21% protein
18% alcohol (that darned wine!!!).
I made some homemade oatmeal for breakfast (yummy) today--and the leftovers will last a few days (my DS decided it tasted "funny").
I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon--will he notice my loss? He's been after me for 2 years or more to lose 10 pouns--well, I did better than 10 pounds!!!

3fcuser1058250 07-18-2006 09:37 PM

Allison -- That water weight will fall off quickly if you nip it in the bud...

Today I didn't do good at all... I didn't even count calories :faint:, there are just too many to count....

But I did exercise

2frustrated 07-19-2006 04:10 AM

Yesterday was good - apart from I missed kickboxing, which made me mad and I didn't eat to fill the void

In fact I had quite a low calorie day for me yesterday - 1424 P27% C43% F30% although I did sneak in a tiny bit of ice cream :o but it was SO :hot:
