EmmaD, so funny about the power yoga -- I used to take a class called Yoga for Athletes where you held poses until you burned, etc, with just a little relaxation/meditation at the end. That was at my old gym in another state. I tried a similar class here but they expected you to have much more yoga experience and the teacher wasn't very nice about it. I've found a new studio nearby and will give it a try.

WOW, quite the featherweight woosh there!

Interesting that you mention the morning fluid levels "settling" - I have been noticing that my weight goes down by almost 2 pounds throughout the morning before I eat. Weight is such a funny thing. I can also push my scale around to different locations and get it to read 0.4 to 0.6 pounds difference.

That's exactly what I've seen in terms of a "woosh"! I can eat pretty crappy one day and be up about 3 lbs, then eat clean the rest of the day and be down 3 lbs the next morning... Important to look for patterns and be aware of the trend, I suppose.

Way to maintain [and now I see losing - congrats!]! I love maintaining, especially around such a holiday-y time as July/summer. ;)

As far as the scales/weight things you mention at the beginning: I call that fluctuation in the morning "ghost pounds." I can lose quite a bit just by weighing in, waiting a while, then weighing in again.

Problem is that, for me, it's not consistent, i. e., doesn't happen every time. So, if I'm trying to hit an official weight in a hurry, because I'm on my way out the door to an eating occasion and want to make weight first, I can't count on the ghost pound phenomenon to save me, more's the pity. So I have to exercise, just to be safe, on those occasions. :woops:

It always freaks me out how scales can vary so much, even in a short amount of time. Great when it goes in one's favor, not so much when it doesn't! :dizzy:

Woohoo! I was playing musical scales again. Lost first round. Was getting ready to leave for a trip on weigh-in day. And, as described above, it was a game of "ghost pounds" roulette, but I won! Normally I would have exercised to assure success, but did not have time, what with my neurotic putting off - as usual - of packing (and still forgot a couple of shirts - had to wear the TWO I brought twicet!).

I really went to town on the eating, having three up days in a row, so obviously the weight today is abnormally high. It'll be interesting to see if I'll make my goal by Sunday. It's going to be a freakout to be in the 104s, whenever it happens! :fr:

Some how I have gained two pounds since the start of the month. Well, I need to figure out something here.

Hmm....eat 1200 calories instead of 1500 and don't be lazy and run a few miles. Guess that worked.

:fr:

I don't think there's any way I'll make weight (104.6!) this week, so I've hatched a diabolical plan. So I don't miss my up day on Sunday, I'll fast Saturday - tomorrow - and double up calories on Sunday (for a total of 2400), and not worry about making weight until next Sunday. Whoohoo! :carrot:

Summer time, summer time, sum-sum-summer time, summer tiiiiiiiiiiiiime! ;) :D

That's really INCREDIBLE, Emma! :yay: :yay: I know you've worked so hard to get there. It really is tough, but I love looking back at the week, and seeing what has been done through concerted effort.

If it was easy, the diet industry wouldn't be the billion dollar industry that it is! What we'd - I'd - really like is an easy way to eat what I want, not exercise, and effortlessly lose weight. It's actually, unfortunately, the opposite.

But maybe I shouldn't say "unfortunately." It's more than fortunate that we're all paying attention to the quality of food we eat more, as well as the quantity, and getting more exercise. These actions will result in longer, happier lives, in which we preserve our health and our looks. I'd say those things are well worth the effort we're all putting in. ;)

Again, good going! :carrot:

Kristip,
Your constant losses are impressive. What are you doing to make this happen?!? Nice work :)

The only thing that I have come up with is eat less, like under 1200 a day, but that is hard to follow so I stay around 1500 plus an hour of cardio and mantain. You seem to have this figured out!

I just found your explanation. Yup, eat less. I give you credit for being able to do that.

And I give you credit for the amazing exercise you do, and do so consistently, Jen. It takes a lot of mental strength to keep up that kind of regimen, and not everyone is willing and able to put in the work. ;)

Yep. Still at 900 calories. I cheated up to 1000-1100 occasionally this last week while on vacation but also increased activity. Honestly, it's not much different than I ate most of my life. I was always around 110 until the last 3-4 years when my weight ballooned due to lifestyle changes. The only thing I really stay away from is alcohol. And then sugar and simple carbs.

Thanks! I will just be glad to get past this all-consuming stage. I had a pretty healthy diet when I wasn't binging, and now that I shook the overwhelming carb cravings I am hoping someday, whenever I decide I to move into maintenance, I will do okay at it.

You are ALL an inspiration for me! Keeps me going...

Like KristiP, I am very low-cal, less than 1000 cal/day (pretty low-carb too; I focus on lots of veggies and protein). I haven't yet ramped up my exercise. I think I will have to consume more calories when I exercise, and I just wanted to get my weight down a bit before then. At least out of those dang 140s...
