May Feather's Chat!

Girls! It's almost May and we've used the March thread for a month extra, time to start fresh! How are you all doing? :D

I am thrilled, because: (posted in bikini-challenge thread also, sorry for the double, but YAY!!)

For the first time in YEARS I was comfortable with the idea of a fullbody picture of myself that others get to see. So I asked my mom to take one today. I am pretty amazed I have to say. In my mind my legs are WAY bigger than how they appear on this picture. So Yeah! I think I am at the point where I feel no longer 'fat' or bigger than other people/friends! (Remember, I am from the Netherlands, lot's of tall and skinny folks here.)

YAY! :carrot:

TurboMammoth 04-30-2012 09:47 AM

philana : thank you for the new thread! And you look soooo slim! Looove the style (especially the blazer, so pretty!)

***

I'm dead tired today after spending the weekend with friends out of town and my running training from yesterday... I don't really know how I'm going to go through the week lol

I bought the cutest (and also my most shortest ever) daisy duke short at urban outfitter this weekend. Yes, they were horribly expensive. But they are piiiiiink. I'm in love with them, even if my thighs look huge in them.

I ate SO MUCH this weekend. I felt I was pushing food in my mouth the entire time. Cookies, I had a burger with fries with friends, and we had some Beavertails after lunch (I could have chose the cinamon and lemon one to be reasonable. Obviously I went for the maple-I'm-gonna-go-for-a-diabetic-coma one) At least I had a nice salad for lunch on saturday. (I'm trying to comfort myself here, does it show!? lol)

Oh well. New week. We don't have social plans for next weekend, it will probably help the sabotage part.

krampus 04-30-2012 10:29 AM

hi Feathers! After a weekend of eating a lot in NYC I'm up to 132.0 but I don't think that's a permanent arrangement. Back to the gym (and eating well) today!

I thought I'd share a photo too. I was pretty drunk here and STUFFED with pizza, but even so, I think I look better than I did in pictures from a couple weeks ago. These are my size 4 pants!

http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...07956943_n.jpg

philana YOU LOOK GREAT! Your legs aren't big at all and you look much taller than 5'4 and a half.

TurboMammoth I had a similar weekend. I'm sure your thighs don't look huge in anything ;) but I hope you rock those shorts with confidence!

jayohwhy 04-30-2012 11:32 AM

philana, krampus- you both look great!

turbo- my weekend was totally off the rocker. i'm back on the wagon with you!
________

hi feathers! i'm back from a great weekend in vegas for my birthday-- there was so much eating! i tried to counteract the eating by walking tons every day and i went on two 5 mile morning runs down the strip-- which were awesome fun.

however, after a weekend full of treats, 1 buffet, and 1 awesome gourmet meal, i am up and sore. Also, my foot is in a lot of pain to the point where i'm laid up at home waiting to call an orthopedist and can't go to work :(

regardless of eating though, I felt proud of how i looked this weekend. i was even hit on for the first time at a bar-- it was a creepy old guy but still, was a bit of an ego booster.

valalltogether 04-30-2012 11:36 AM

everyone looks great! i just hit the 130's so i guess i'll be around the forum more. (i still don't think of myself as a "feather" weight lol)

krampus 04-30-2012 12:25 PM

jayohwhy For the first time? I doubt that - you must just have been oblivious. ;) nicely done on the long runs on vacation! Is that your husband? He's really good looking!

DottieMae 04-30-2012 12:36 PM

Hi Everyone,
I'm new here, first off you ladies look so great! I just starting back to dieting after a year or so off. I had been down around 128 but a trip to an all inclusive resort put me waay off track and I just sort of let it go. When I weighed in at 146 a few weeks ago I knew I had to get moving.

- Eating Heathier (eating way more veggies and fruits this time around)
- Watching portions and calories (tracking on my iphone around 1500/day) I had previously done 1200/1300 but found myself way too hungry so I upped them.
- Exercising/moving more. Even if it just means running around with my (almost) 5 year old instead of going to the gym. He's taken up tennis albeit not very well, which means I get to run all over the court.

I've lost 2.5 lbs in 2 weeks and couldn't be more thrilled. I can't wait to see the scale move out of the 140s!

New ladies welcome, it's a friendly bunch here :)

Turbo - Even if you ate a lot your weekend sounds fun!

I'll join in and post a pic, I'm slightly intoxicated...but it's the only recent full body shot I have!

Tuca125 05-01-2012 12:42 AM

Hi girls, every one is looking good... As for me I am getting ready for my half marathon this coming sunday here in Toronto.

I will look for a picture to post...

crazygurl61 05-01-2012 01:31 AM

Everyone looks awesome! I had a picture taken of me this weekend and looked way smaller than I see myself. I'll try to figured out how to post it because rit now I have no clue...

ValRock 05-01-2012 02:05 AM

You girls are all adorable! Lookin' fabulous!!!

I'm up to my neck in finals. My brother is visiting this weekend and I want to strangle him!!! WHY does he pick the weekend before all my tests? BOOGER!!

Back to studying I go!

magsabags 05-01-2012 08:49 AM

Hi everyone! I am new to this site... Just joined yesterday after eating tons of ice cream, cake, etc. It wasn't pretty. But I am confident that with support I can turn things around! I am also neck deep in finals - pretty stressful time! I am also running a half marathon in less than a week. May 5! I'm so scared for it. I haven't ran more than 3 miles in the last 3 weeks - but before that I was running 5-6 miles per day and long runs of 15 miles. Even with all that training though I still wasn't losing weight because of all the crap I was eating. I decided I really need to change and am excited to have you all here as support!

Tuca125 05-01-2012 08:57 AM

Welcome abord magsabags.... Which half are you running? I think you are going to be ok having long runs of 15 miles, even if it was 3 week ago. I am doing a half this coming sunday...are you shooting for a specific time?

magsabags 05-01-2012 09:03 AM

I'm running this Saturday in Columbus, OH. I'm shooting for under 2 hours. Have you run the half before/do you have any advice you could give me? This is my first race ever!

Sarahlynn 05-01-2012 09:16 AM

Hello ladies! I joined the featherweights this time last year but then I found out I was pregnant and had to take a break from weight loss.

I am Sarah a happily married mommy to 4 beautiful kiddos. My youngest was born on January 6th and somehow I have managed to lose all of my baby weight so I am back to where I was last year. I gained 25 lbs after my Grandfather passed away 2 years ago so my goal is to lose that plus an additional 10 lbs to make my goal of 110 lbs which seems reasonable for a
5'2'' person.

TurboMammoth 05-01-2012 09:44 AM

wow! Great pictures everyone! you all look adorable!

Krampus : LOVE YOUR PANTS! (and it's even cooler that they are size 4! ;))

jayo : nice about your fun time in vegas! I do agree with krampus, your husband (?) is totally cute!

Lisa : Looking great! I love your dress :) I really want to go shopping now seeing all of your pictures with great looks LOL

ValRock : he picked a great week to visit lol good luck with your studying

Newcomers : hi! welcome! :)

***

I'm back on track but it's so hard, after eating so much last weekend, I don't feel like restricting myself LOL I had a good food log yesterday though, only going over my 1500 budget by about 100 calories (could have been much much much more worst)

I baked some mini load bread/cake last night to have an alternive to the chocolat chip cookies my boyfriend bought and eat everynight. They are blueberries and lemon, and half of a mini load is 100 calories (size of like 2 mini-muffins) but they're much more filling them the freaking cookies

I'll try to join the picture post festival, don't know if it will work though, I'm such a noob. I was taken last weekend and it's kinda hard to really see because I'm wearing a coat, but I just love my legs on the picture. They look tiny. hihi.

Hey ladies! I know I never participate in the chats much, but I thought I would jump in anyway because you all seem to have the best conversations here :)

I don't have any decent full body shots, I'll have to take one! All of you ladies are gorgeous!

I can't believe it's May already. My first year of teaching is almost over!

The undergraduate honors program I was a part of is having their end of the year dinner. A lot of my friends are graduating this year and I pretty much mentored them when they were freshmen. I want to go and see everyone again (and the professors in the program invited me) so I can't wait :) It's on Monday...

A lot of people haven't seen me since last year, before I graduated with my master's (I went to the same college for undergrad and grad). When I ran into some people recently they didn't recognize me! I wonder if that will happen again :lol:

philana - that is a wonderful picture of you! It looks like it could be in a magazine! :)

TurboMammoth - I'm now in love with colored jeans and shorts and anything like that. I bought some tiny blue shorts recently myself and considering that it's getting up to 80 here on Friday I think it's time to rock them ;) Edit: just saw your picture! You look great!!

krampus - You are totally rocking those pants!! They look great on you and you look like you're having a great time!

jayowhy - You look great! :)

Lisa - that dress looks so wonderful on you and you are so pretty!!

ValRock - good luck on your finals!

magsabags, DottieMae, Sarahlynn - welcome to 3FC!

krampus 05-01-2012 10:00 AM

Back to 130.0 today. My scale might be dying, I stepped on it and it said 128.5, 129.0, 129.5, 52.0, 130.0. Whatever - I ate well yesterday aside from chowing on my bf's home baked honey bread at 11 pm, calories were in check and at no point in the day did I feel deprived. This morning I asked if my gym progress was visible and he said yes, absolutely, that I look and feel fitter. HOORAY.

I'm loving the photo sharing and activity increase in this thread! :D Welcome back Sarahlynn, and welcome DottieMae and magsabags!

LisaTcan You look druuuunk - but great - and not apple shaped at all.

WFonseca, magsabags Good luck on your half marathons. I'm super impressed by anyone who can run that far!

ValRock Family always know when the worst time is to impose on you - and then they zero in on that time. Good luck with the balancing act!

sontaikle I hope at least one person doesn't recognize you - what an ego boost! A year flies by in no time now - think you're in for the "whole hog" lifetime of teaching? Also just curious when's your wedding date?

TurboMammoth You're so long and lean, you look fantastic - modelesque if I may!

Ok, everyone, it's a new month!!! I figured out how to do the picture. I took this one before going out a few days ago when I was at my low of 136.6 for like a hot minute. Hah!

I hope we can keep this thread going as motivation all month long!

Time to weight in for may...EEEK!

LisaTcan 05-01-2012 10:46 AM

Sontaikle - Thank you! Wow, that must be a weird feeling to have people not recognize you. I hope you have fun. And yes you should join, it's very active sometimes I can barely keep up!

Krampus - haha I like a girl who tells it like it is...I was totally drunk, it was one of my newly single friend's 30th birthday. Yay for your boyfriend's comment, by bf always says "I don't know, you always look fine"

crazygurl - you look hot, love you're dress.

Turbo - you look so pretty, very long and lean. I bet this is a great weight for you.

Mags and Sarahlynn - welcome, I'm sure you'll find us feathers very supportive

wfonseca - good luck with the marathon! My friend is running it as well.

ValRocks - I hear you on the exams, so stressful. I hope you get through them ok! I just had a prof accidentally give me a C+ instead of a B+, I totally freaked out.

~~~~~
So I've had my TOM and went up a few pounds and been totally bloated, I'm trying just to eat really well and not weight my self for a few days. I've also been trying not to snack/graze because I think I could cut calories if I watched that more. I have to decide where I'm going to grad school this week and my boyfriend and I are speaking to an immigration lawyer about me getting a VISA so it's going to be a stressful week!
jayohwhy 05-01-2012 12:14 PM
krampus- haha, it seemed like the first time. maybe because the old guy who hit on me was very obvious. i'm having those days where i want to throw my scale out the window-- what kind of scale do you have?
dottie- hi! great job on the loss! you sound like you have a solid plan
lisa- you're so pretty!
wfonseca- good luck on your WI and your half marathon. i'm getting ready for my first half in august.
valrock- you can do it! (with regards tro finals)
magsbags- you're can do it with the half. the adrenaline pushes you at least 25% more than what you are used to.
sarah- hi! i've also decided to go after my final goal, it seems like we have the same amount left to lose...
turbo- yeah, that's my husband, we both look like we are super young. it's funny because people always think we are a high school couple on a date.. good job on the food log!
sontaikle- hi! it's nice to see you here. I'm sure people wil notice how different you look, you hottie, you!
_______________________
so it's my birthday today and i'm walking around with a cane. i'm trying to keep chipper but its a little hard.
just to mix things up, i decided to try the 17 day diet. i'm not expecting much, but it's just for a change. it's sort of fun to focus on that since the doctor said that i can't run for 7 days...
LisaTcan 05-01-2012 02:25 PM
I just found out I got a scholarship to American University. I think I still want to go to the University of Maryland but it made me happy :) So far that's two admits with scholarships.
magsabags 05-01-2012 02:32 PM
Thanks everyone for being so encouraging! jay happy birthday - i'm sorry about the cane. it must suck, but you have a lot to be chipper about. losing almost 100 pounds is amazing!! your numbers are inspirational. and all of your photos are lovely btw. can't wait til i write enough posts to post pics!
Alexistrophic 05-02-2012 01:48 AM
And to say that EVERYONE in the picture party is gorgeous!!!!
Here's to a fantastic MAY!!!
philana 05-02-2012 05:04 AM
OMG, this got busy! I hope I don't forget anyone.
Krampus: You look adorable! And your legs look so skinny. <3. Strange you should say that I look taller. I've re-measured myself a gazillion times because everybody always thinks I am taller than I am. But really, only 164cm here.
Jayohwhy: sounds like you had an awesome bday. Happy belated bday! You look so cute too. Love the dress. Running down the strip just sounds like on of those "bucket-list" things. Haha.
Dottie: Welcome here! Sounds like you have a solid plan, keep it up :D
Lisa: Haha, your pic is funny. But dang, you look adorable. Doesn't seem like there's 13lbs to lose on you. Though obviously people tell me the same and I don't agree. So you go for it! haha.
wfons: welcome! goodluck on the half, can't wait to be able to do that!
crazy: funky how that works right? because of the picture I finally see myself as not so big. But it was also because of pictures that I saw I needed to really start losing some. Hihi.
ValRock: Goodluck with the finals, hope you get some studying time AND some bro-time.
magsabags: welcome and goodluck in the half! I hope to be ready to do one in november.
Sarah: Welcome to these boards. I am sorry to hear about your father. Sounds like you have a lot of good stuff going on though and are on the road to even better stuff!
Turbo: You look just adorable too! Gosh there's so many cool lookin' ladies on here. Hihi. Love your bag. I'm a sucker for leather bags. Hope you found your way back on track more easily by now. I know how it gets when you just had some leeway.
sontaikle: haha, thank you! Awesome that you are joining us. Love this place also! It's the only chat-thread I actually keep up with on here.
ARGH! Some of you posted twice already. I am in the train right now and have to get out almost. So yeh.
I am havin super busy days and TOM so my eating has been horrid. (As in about 2 times 1800-2000 calorie days). I think I am on track though today is gonna be busy but I gave food a thought before I left so I have a plan how to eat healthy and not be at home today. I will just have to push all my exercise into 1 day tomorrow. Haha.
I am doing campaigning stuff and I volunteered to organise a big event for 500 people in like 6 weeks. So yeh. Busy busy. But busy feels more like my life. I have not felt this good in months. Just like my old self is coming back. A word of advice to anybody needing it: if you ever feel ike you need to lets say.. graduate... and you are just stuck at it but are a very ambitious and active person, DONT, i repeat DONT tell yourself you can't do ANYTHING but studying untill you are done. Really. I've done nothing in the past few months, and I did not study either. Because it felt like I had loads of time. Meantime I started to feel incredibly useless because all my friends and other people in my network were doing all these cool things and I was just hanging back sayig "no, first graduating." In the end I felt miserable.
To be continued obviously, because I feel good again but the big Question is: Am I gonna manage to get myself to study so I can graduate this year?!
philana 05-02-2012 05:07 AM
Oh, Lisa, CONGRATS!!!!!!
That's awesome. Glad you got some choice and options.
sontaikle 05-02-2012 08:18 AM
I made a decision that I'm going back to strictly calorie counting. Since the end of January I decided to try going Primal. That lasted for about 5 or 6 weeks (I truly had NO GRAINS) in that time but I really missed certain things so I decided to have grains on the weekends.
The only ill effects I suffered adding them back in was that eating bread in the morning made me hungrier. Other than that, nothing (so just no bread in the morning). I truly think my body is a garbage disposal sometimes because I don't have the digestive issues that others have. I mean if you look around the web you see people eliminating grains all the time and THEIR LIVES ARE CHANGED. Well I guess it didn't work that way for me.
I noticed that on the week days when I didn't have grains that I was actually a bit more tired and needed a nap in the afternoon when I got home from work. Before that I would have endless energy and have to move. When I wake up from the nap I'm fine but it makes me go to sleep later.
On days I do have grains I don't really get that afternoon lull. Also it's a lot easier to stay with my calorie count when I do have them.
The grains I eat will still be whole grains only, and I'll probably still limit them, just not to the extent that I do now.
I can't wait to have my whole wheat flatbread chicken sandwich that I packed for lunch now.
krampus - Yay for progress! :) I love teaching and I think I'm going to be able to stick with it for the long haul. There were certainly ups and downs this first year in, but overall I love it. And no date yet! I'm hoping to get married within the next few years though :lol:
crazygurl61 - I love that dress you on, you look fantastic! :)
Lisa - Oh it's really weird!! I've gone up to people, said "hi" and gotten blank stares until they either realize it's me or I remind them. It's great if I don't want to talk to someone though! :lol: Good luck with grad school (congrats on the scholarship!) and meeting with the immigration lawyer!
jayowhy - Happy Birthday! I hope you had a good birthday despite what is going on.
philana - good luck with that event! Wow! I'd also have to agree with you that while studying is important that it shouldn't take over your life. I was super busy in college doing/running events that while my studying fell to the wayside I still had a high GPA in the end. As it is my job prospects are usually better because of all the stuff I managed to cram in (I've had employers point it out on interviews all the time).
krampus 05-02-2012 09:52 AM
YOU GUYS YOU GUYS 128.5 - that's my lowest morning weigh-in since early 2011!
I ran 2.5 miles yesterday, just a little thing, but I pushed myself pace-wise and didn't feel like I needed to take any walking breaks, which is a big thing for me. I threw up in my mouth a little right at the start but it got better from there (whew).
Boyfriend made an incredible (and healthy!) dinner last night - salmon w/champagne dill mustard, lemon kale, and asparagus with sriracha. Today I am going to the gym after work to lift and do cardio. Tomorrow is the "cheeseburger picnic" pre-party for the Trailer Park Boys live show...oh boy.
crazygurl61 You look wonderful in that blue dress - really fit!
jayohwhy Aren't you around my age (25)? You guys don't look like high school kids to me - but you'll also probably look exactly as you do until you're 50, which is pretty cool. Happy birthday and wishing you a speedy recovery!
LisaTcan CONGRATULATIONS on the acceptance and scholarship!!!
Alexistrophic Hope May will be a fantastic month for you, too!
philana I feel better when busy too. There is a lot of sitting around at my job now; I am looking forward to when it gets busier and I have to organize conferences and board meetings and whatnot.
sontaikle It sounds like adding grains back is a positive change for you - I don't eat them terribly often, but I simply cannot function on low carb. Glad you like teaching, the world needs more teachers like you - I'm sure you heard about that horror in Cherry Hill NJ with the abusive special ed teacher and the autistic boy?
crazygurl61 05-02-2012 12:07 PM
Hi Everyone! 138.4 today- on the way down for the month hopefully! BIG weekend ahead but I have already decided not to let that derail me.
Sontaikle- I have been primal blueprint (80/20 but glueten/grain free) since Mid-March and I am hoping to stay that way until I get into the 120's. For May however I have started calorie counting again because I would like to transition to calorie counting only and sparingly add grains back in once I do get to the 120's. I find it is important for me to still calorie count on Primal so I knwo that I am getting enough calories. I am curious to see how adding grains back in will make you feel in the long haul. Keep us updated! I am also a teacher. I was craving grains so bad yesterday and had corn which I don't usually eat, that helped.
Turbo- The legs look great!
Krampus- GO get it girl! In the 120's! It's funny you say I look fit because I don't workout, however with my job teaching elementary I am up and around all day long so I aim for 10,000 steps.
Philana- I second feeling better when busy. It was funny that you said your TOM calories are more because during TOM I ate less and gained wheras the last time I ate more calories during TOM I lost. Also, I think you were the one who said that you started loosing more when you went from 1200 to 1400? Anyway, I am upping myself to 1400 this week to see how it goes.
Lisa-YAY!! Congrats!
JayohWhy- Hope you have a great birthday and feel better soon!
I think I got almost everyone....if I missed anyone have a great day and lets make May a great month!
TurboMammoth 05-02-2012 12:10 PM
OMG so many people to write back! this thread is getting on FIRE!
sontaikle : Not being recognize is such an ego boost! And I'm quickly developing a love for color jeans and short... today I'm wearing flashy red jeans for the first time! yay! :D adding back grain on a diet is tricky... sometimes I get some hangover feeling from carbs... not fun!
Krampus : thanx for the nice words about my picture :) freaking awesome number on the scale! you're so getting there!
crazygurl : looking hot, girl! your dress is so pretty! where did you get it?
Lisa : congratsx1000 on the scolarship!!! it's always nice to put in a cv. you must be so thrilled :D that is amazing! good luck for the visa too, those procedures can suck real bad...
jayo : happy birthday for yesterday!! hope you had a great time, even with the cane! :) I don't know the 17 diet, what is it about?
magsabags : you're close to being able to post stuff.. hang in there! ;)
Alexis : fantastice May to you too!
philana : I'm in love with my leather bag too LOL 20$ at the H&M last night... that was a deal! I love your new avatar by the way, you just look literally happy on it :)
***
Sorry if I forgot someone!
I hit the scale this morning, I'm up from last friday, but my tummy has been all bloated since Sunday. I think TOM is creeping its way up.
I'm trying to keep control of the food log and I'm doing okay! Still tempted but oh well. I'M gonna push the boyfriend to finish the cookies tonights so they'll be gone foreveeeeeeeeer
Oh and also I finished my freaking HILLS training I've been doing for the past 4 weeks. They were so boring. Doing the same hill loop/jogging down for 7 times last night, I looked like a creep going in the same street again and again and again. Starting intervals next week, yay!
krampus 05-03-2012 10:09 AM
128.5 again today, despite eating ice cream, peanut butter, pepperoncinis, and whipped cream after dinner. That snack attack aside, it felt fairly easy to stay at a deficit with lots of protein.
Tonight is the "Cheeseburger Picnic" preluding Trailer Park Boys Live. I will not have more than two cheeseburgers. I do not need more than two cheeseburgers.
sontaikle 05-03-2012 11:02 AM
It's amazing how one little change made such a big deal in how I felt. I feel so much better with just a wrap or flatbread in the middle of the day instead of just the meat and veggies on my plate. I don't feel the need to eat as much and I don't feel tired in the middle of the day. Amazing.
It's so strange, really. But I know my body is strange and doesn't respond to things the way others do.
Also AVENGERS TOMORROW. I am so psyched for that movie!! The fiance and I have been watching the previous Marvel movies—we watched Thor and Captain America on Sunday—and we're going to hit Iron Man and Iron Man 2 today. Not sure if I have The Hulk handy, but I didn't care much for that one anyway.
TBH, one BIG reason I'm seeing the movie for the collection of hot men :rofl: My mom pretty much said the same thing (she is going with my Dad tomorrow). She said "I'm just going to see that movie because of Robert Downey Jr."
Krampus - Yay for hitting and keeping that low!! :)
I can't really do low carb for too long. I tried it for a long time and the carb flu just didn't go away like most people say it should.
I heard about the abusive special ed teacher. It almost made me cry (Special Ed is what I teach) I know how frustrating it can be, but I cannot imagine resorting to something like that at all. :(
crazygurl61 - I calorie counted while I went Primal, and I'm finding that when I added grains back in on the weekends that I didn't suffer from anything like a lot of others do. I had a flatbread toasted sandwich yesterday and I felt BETTER. I'm weird. I know this from the way certain foods have an effect on me so I'm going to go back to calorie counting. I'm not going to have a free for all with bread or anything (never really ate it much when I was just cc anyway).
TurboMammoth - Let other people think you're a creep! :lol: You'll be a fit creep!
Hey Everyone,
Thanks for the warm welcome! Super excited to say I weighed myself this morning and I'm down to 140.9! woo-hoo! I suspect a lot of that is water loss as I went back to Bikram for the first time last night since changing my diet. Felt on top of the world for the first half of the class and then struggled through the rest. Think I need more calories on days I head there.
I'm sitting here eating lunch and pulled out a business magazine. Who knew an article I'm reading about revitalizing businesses would ring so true for weight loss! From Build magazine's "The Power of Small Things" "Big [change] is fine. Big is what things amount to. But small? The repeatable, testable, alterable, doable steps toward big? Small deserves more respect. Small is the smartest path to different." Helped remind me as I ate that it's about slow, steady, smart choices that will (eventually) add up to the 20+ pounds I'm looking to lose.
Side note I keep thinking it's Friday and getting really disappointed! I just want it to be the weekend!
Morning everyone! Despite my injury, I had a really fun birthday and finally found a Michael kors watch i love at a price I can pay after visiting many tj Maxx/ Ross over the past few months. It was a great thing to happen on my birthday.
i'm trying 17 day diet and I miss simple carbs! However it's been good since I can't work out due to my injury and also it's a challenge: can I go a whole day without crackers, cookies, chocolate or chips?
I've decided that I will 17 day diet mon and wednesday and on the other days and the weekends i will count calories for my sanity and for my social life. I'm already back down to 135 after lots of birthday feasting and I feel good.
This Saturday is olive garden with my family for my birthday. I've been craving it for a year now and wanted to go. It's hard letting myself eat, but I think it's better for the long run
TurboMammoth 05-03-2012 01:04 PM
krampus : oh yeah in the 128's! have fun at your bbq!!
sontaikle : I'M SO EXCITED ABOUT THE AVENGERS! But I'll have to wait until next week to see it, my boyfriend is going away for 6 days and I can't go without him :(
Dottie : I KEEP thinking it'S friday too since this morning. It is annoying. way to get your bubble bursted every now and then that you realized ''dam*, not friday yet''
jayo : I'm happy that you had a nice birthday despite the injury. And Olive Garden, yummyyy!
hey all! TOM kicked in this morning and I'm up to 137.6 lbs despite being good on my calories log since monday. It's probably water weight. It gotta be water weight!
krampus 05-04-2012 09:43 AM
I'm up a pound, but still under 130! :D I went to the cheeseburger picnic saying I would only have 2 cheeseburgers, but I had 3 (the third didn't have a bun)...and a bunch of grilled starchy veggies...and Skittles at the show...and a little ice cream before bed. All in all, I feel a little gross physically, so today I'll shoot for lighter eating. Have a big hike planned this weekend which will be fun. Still haven't pooped since Sunday...hoping this coffee will fix that!
Today my mom and I are getting fitted for our dresses from that contest a couple weeks back. I'm sitting at work comfortably in my blue size 4 pants, with a pretty awesome lunch packed (Greek yogurt, chicken salad with gorgonzola and red pepper on a WHOLE BAG of spring mix, blackberries). I feel like I've made considerable progress in (A) not going INSANE on a dieting severely-binging severely pendulum of fail and (B) detaching my eating from my emotions and self-esteem. I'm sure everyone has these "revelations" as they lose weight and get in shape though :P
TurboMammoth Dang straight it's gotta be water weight! You're doing great, don't worry about TOM bloat.
jayohwhy Your dedication to getting the last few pounds off is truly admirable. I agree that letting yourself eat is healthier in the long run - if you've been postponing your craving for an entire year, I think it's safe to say you "earned" it.
DottieMae The small-steps approach is a very good one toward losing weight - the whole endeavour feels much more manageable when you break it down into steps. I learned a lot about personal savings and investing via the "baby steps" method, and I managed to save plenty making $12 an hour for not even full-time hours! How is Bikram? I'm curious but fairly certain I would puke or fall asleep.
sontaikle It really is sick how people can be so cruel to special needs kids. I'm glad you are feeling more human with more carbs, enjoy Robert Downey Jr. (meeeooowww)!!! And may the Fourth be with you (Star Wars joke...harharhar).
jayohwhy 05-04-2012 12:41 PM
turbo- it's totally water weight! i always think that a string of good calorie days always seems to take at least a couple days to register on the scale!
krampus- i'm glad that you had a great time! i love cheeseburgers! well, really i love cheese more, but the burger part just makes it better. it's great that you are learning more things about living healthy and about yourself.
so here we are. this week i learned that i can't give up carbs for too long. after the second day, everyone started looking like a big potato chip to me, thus mondays and wednesdays will be no carb and the rest of the days will be counting calories to maintain my 135 figure.
i know i keep on saying the same things over and over again but i really need to work on my body image and loving my body at it's new healthy weight instead of the mindset that i have to be as skinny as can be. Also, i need to find out how to not just be "on" or "off", rather than either always losing weight or gaining weight, i'd like to find a way to maintain my weight...
TurboMammoth 05-04-2012 03:25 PM
krampus : you still manage to just eat a little pourcentage of what I would have eat if I attented a show like that! LOL And yay for revelations times! I think it's important in the process, but everyone time I hear myself talk like that, I always think I sounds like a guru thingy LOL
jayo : you said you are always saying the same thing about working on your body image : there is nothing wrong with it! I think it's actually the main issue with Featherweight people : we don't see ourselves how we actually look like I think... it's a perpetual work in progress. You did so so so much, going from 222 to 135... I think you can be so proud of yourself and just enjoy your new life casually for a while ;)
Well, after freaking out with the 137.6 lbs yesterday, I was at 135 lbs this morning. I guess I pooped and pied my life away yesterday to drop 2.6 lbs like that. Freaking water weight! I was so astonished, I went on the scale 3 times and I was just like ''well. okay.''
Now that I'm around my new goal, I guess I don't have any choices now then to start weight training to tone this up... I'm gonna diiiiiiiiiiiiiie
Hi Everyone!!! It's the weekend! Yay! I'm exhausted! My husband works for Dinsey and was out late at the avengers premiere then woke me up when we got home so I didn't get a chance to get a full night of uninterrupted sleep.grr!
I'm gearing up for a challenging weekend eating wise. I am meeting my mom in a few hours at the mall for a snack/chat date. I've already decided I am going to just have an unsweetened iced tea and enjoy the company instead of calories. Then I need to shop for a baptism, wedding, and an engagement party gift. Tonight I'm going out to dinner with my husband. I've saved 650 calories in my daily budget so I am hoping for a light entree and one glass of some sort of alcohol.
Tomorrow I have a band rehearsal, am teaching a music lesson and then I have my friend's wedding in the afternoon and evening. I am planning to eat a light protein filled breakfast and lunch as well as a healthy dinner at the wedding, leaving room for a glass or two of wine/alchohol. No wedding cake- since I'm gluten free. Hopefully I'll also be able to dance the night away and burn some extra calories!
But can't stay out too late..because....Sunday is an early morning baptism, and then singing with my church band, followed by an afternoon luncheon. Then I need to get my butt home and make sure I do the grocery shopping and all those things...because I'll be gone in Anaheim Wed-Sat at a convention...I am looking forward to staying in the Disney Hotel! Then next weekend is the engagement party for my friend AND Mother's Day brunch. AhHH!
I am going to concentrate on making sure I am aware of what I eat this weekend. I plan to be a social butterfly and enjoy myself instead of standing in the corner stuffing my face.
Krampus- look at you! Size 4 pants, 3 cheeseburgers, and still in the 120's! You are doing great. I do think your revelations mark the difference between a "fad diet" and a lifestyle change. You are on the right path!
Jayo- what's the 17 day diet? I think your plan sounds like something I'd like to transition to when I hit the 120's. Until then, no bread, flour, rice, pasta, potatoes or anything like that for me. I just dont trust myself!
Sontaikle- that is interesting, I am still too afraid to trust myself with bread. Maybe one day....
Turbo- isn't water weight crazy!!!! I'm always amazed at my daily fluctuations and stuff!
Dottie-you can do it! Love your attitude.
Philana- where are you girl? TOM got you down? We miss you!!!
Have a great weekend everyone!
Have a great weekend everyone!
Hihi! Actually, YES. I got annoyed with my TOM-gain and then I ate a bit more than I wanted to and I got stomach-bug or something. Oh and had 2 supersuper busy days. So all in all not a great week.
I'll do personals later. Just waving and doing a little dance because after the lousy eating no exercise 4days I just ran 10k. Love it. Wanna do 12,5k next weekend for sure.
