Did the last 20 lbs make a big difference on you?

  • I also have 20lbs left to lose and I imagine it's going to make a pretty big difference. I do progress photos so you can actually see a very big difference from my last 20lbs (well, going from 185 to 165 here and I wasn't even close to a healthy BMI yet!).

Another thing to think about... are you exercising? I've found the most dramatic effect in my appearance happens when I'm lifting because I'm building muscle in the process.
  • I feel guilty that I don't strength train...I always try it and I hate doing it and never stick with it. For now, its not in my budget so I am focusing on diet and doing a lot of walking, I might start kickboxing in the future-I'll see how many times I go in a month or so! I have a habit of joining gyms and never going!
  • I only wanted to lose 20 pounds and I can tell you it makes a HUGE difference, especially in the waist for me ! I'm straight shaped, my 29" waist got down to 24", man this feel so good.

Ahh I can't stand my belly-what kind of exercises did you do?
  • Weight training is really beneficial. I don't think I look like I do without it. It's tough to get over that initial fear, but it's SO GOOD for you that after a while you just won't care what other people think.

My stomach has gotten flatter in the past few weeks since I added more weight/strength training and cut out some cardio. I know I might have lost a few pounds (haven't weighed myself though, I'm not going to until the 8th) which I didn't want really, but I think all of this change is paying off.

Seriously I have never in my life been so closer to a flat stomach like this. It's CRAZY. I'm eating MORE, exercising a bit less and it's totally working

I have one day a week of just bodyweight exercises, one day of medium weight training and one day of heavy weight training. My heavy day is quick—just 20-30 min—but it's done wonders.

I'm eating over 2000 calories a day too and making sure to get lots of protein. I can see that I've got more muscle in my arms, legs, and back and my stomach is slowly flattening out and I think my ab muscles are trying to emerge, lol.

Oh and I don't do crunches at all! The only dedicated ab exercise I do is planks on my bodyweight training day. Otherwise all of the other exercises I do work my entire body.
  • I'm hoping for the last twenty pounds to really do something for my thighs! Thanks for the thread! I don't really want to go under 119 because it's supposed to be the middle of the Normal BMI but I really am not sure how I'm going to look.
  • OK I just signed up for a 3 day trial at the local gym! I have no clue what I am doing, so I will try a class first (not sure which one) and see how it goes!

Lost the first 5 because I was sick (almost died !), and after that I was doing 45 min/1h30 of bicycle 5-6 days a week ! I love bicycling so it was not a big challenge. Down to 105 pounds I started running instead of bicycling, and I'm trying yoga and basic weight training at home. I didn't had a huge belly though: my waist was very large !
  • For others more than for myself. I still look the same to me as I always look to me. But I've received more comments from the peanut gallery about my weight loss in the last 20 lbs than I did in the first 30.
  • Yes, the last 20 made a big difference! Specially in my arms, saddlebags (what's left of them is really not much now) and made a a huge dent in my second pair of cheeks ( what I lovingly call the additional fat/skin underneath each butt cheek
  • Most definitely, everyone says you can see it. I've been getting so many compliments lately. Feels really good. I am hoping the last ten show a difference.
