Happy Valentines Day everyone! I have to work late but my boyfriend is taking me out to dinner afterwards. I'm a little sad because I'd had a goal of making it to 130 by today and I didn't, oh well.

Philiana - Yikes carb hangover sounds awful!

Would those of you who are doing low carb mind posting a typical day?

Krampus - congrats on the loss!! Wow, home made chocolates, thats pretty sweet.

Shikshin - welcome!!

krampus 02-14-2012 02:57 PM

Delivered his whiskey via his coworker. He posted excitedly about it on Facebook and all these people are commenting "she's a keeper, good job" and stuff like that. AWWWWW WARM FUZZIES. I'm swamped at work. All the food I packed is healthy - veggie/chicken stirfry, grapefruit, raw veggies, Greek yogurt. I don't mind that I'm too busy to eat...more room for surprise Valentine's dinner later tonight!

LisaTcan I have to work late today too! My dude is cooking for me later. I think he already got everything together so he just needs 30 min notice.

Shikshin welcome welcome! How are you?

LoveSweets It's Valentine's Day! Don't weigh yourself tomorrow morning - problem solved! I'm sure one meal won't throw you over the rails.

jayohwhy Aw thanks. I'm happy to see you posting here!!! Yeah my bf is a really good cook who loves trying new recipes and we both love to eat. I'm not sure how I've lost weight being with him?!?

JoJoP 02-14-2012 03:46 PM

My typical day:

Breakfast: Half a grapefruit and two scrambled eggs topped with fresh salsa. Also, large coffee with some unsweetened soy milk

Snack: A few pistachios and half a cup of fiber 1 cereal

Lunch: Large salad with lots of veggies and either grilled chicken or beans + nuts.

Snack: frozen veggies with tomato sauce and a few nuts/a little fiber 1.

Dinner: Frozen veggies + grilled chicken or beans + half cup of whole grains + whatever cooked/sauteed veggies we have in the fridge.

I also allow myself to taste things I bake and cook for my family. Sometimes for dinner I'll eat what my parents are eating if it's pretty healthy, just in small but satisfying portions.

Typical Day - Low Carb/South Beach

Bfast: Egg Quiche or protien of some sort
Lunch: Salad with chicken. feta, lentils and Galeos Miso dressing and 1/2 cup berries
Snack: Sting Cheese
Dinner: Lean protein with vegetables and a large salad
Dessert: make it my self low carb brownie (145 cals)

4 cupcakes, 18 hershey kisses, cheddar puffs and veggie chips. And still have dinner and drinks tonight. Yep, its safe to say I have a problem and will probably be gaining back all of my weight. I am just sad and disapointed. Period.

LoveSweetsCA 02-14-2012 05:23 PM

Dianne - I know how you feel! Sometimes I get off track too and it makes me feel miserable. Maybe tonight try and have a lighter dinner?

pinkrunner115 02-14-2012 07:27 PM

Diane, I can understand the frustration. I have the same problem that you do- once I get started on cake, I find it very difficult to stop. It's one of those things that I crave like a wild woman sometimes too. The only advice I can give is to go ahead and enjoy yourself today and try not to think about the calories, and then get back on track tomorrow. It's okay to have a crappy eating day, we all have them. You're human, cupcakes taste awesome, and it's a holiday. Don't be too hard on yourself :)

Man, looking at those eating plans (LoveSweets, JoJo) I'm super impressed. I wish I could stick to something that great! I start with a high fiber cereal, then have some yogurt and some kind of meatless thing (fake chicken breast, whatever), but dinner is when I don't do so well. It's something I'm working on....very slowly.

Krampus, nice V-day present to the guy! And while it doesn't matter what other people think, it always feels really nice when friends approve and root for the relationship. Have a good day and dinner-- sounds like it will be awesome!

Lisa, you'll make it to 130! You put in the work and you know what it takes to get there. You'll appreciate it that much more when you make it! I've been saying I'll be 119 for over a year now... Man, when I make it, I'll probably mess up and celebrate with some cake :p

Today I haven't eaten very much, but it's only because I've been running around to do various errands all day. I'm not too big on Valentine's day, so I think my husband and I are probably just going to have dinner at home and watch a movie or something. I'm very unromantic so I don't think I appreciate the day as much as others :D Hope everyone else gets all they wish for! I spent an hour shoveling my driveway and now I'm going to go to the gym for awhile. Burn off some of those cupcake calories from yesterday! :)

Shikshin 02-14-2012 07:30 PM

LisaTcan- Thank you

Krampus - Thanks! I was doing much better, but I recently binged and had long john silvers. One and a half pieces of fish and a small fry, it sent my calorie count too high and now I'm not feeling too great about myself.

Dianne042425 02-14-2012 08:26 PM

Thanks ladies. My sugar craze was so bad, we had to leave dinner early because I got extremely nauseated (almost threw up), dizzy and felt hot. It lasted about an hour. So here I am, in bed feeling miserable. I am beginning to think I have a sugar intolerance. Yes I know everyone reacts to bad sugars. But I notice, whenever I eat any type of sugar, even fruits, it starts a spiral of cravings. For instance, I have been doing relatively well eating. Then I drank Saturday. Ever since then, I havent been able to get back on the wagon. I think the sugar from the alcohol set off a chain reaction. Oy!! Sorry I havent wrote any personals. I have been moody, emotional and just plain tired because of everything going on. But glad to see you ladies are doing well. Congrats krampus on hitting 130 on the dot! HAPPY V DAY LADIES!

Alexistrophic 02-15-2012 01:18 AM

Hello Ladies!
I used to post toward the end of last year, and am busting back in to help keep myself fully accountable. I'm turning the big 3-0 in October and am PLANNING to be in the 130's or below by then as a present to myself. That's totally and sustainably possible, but I'll have to buckle down and get serious.

Looking forward to putting the pedal to the metal w. you ladies!!!

~~~
LisaT ~ I've been reading old posts and just love your life plan/direction. I majored in English (worked in publishing and teaching) and do music on the side, too, but just don't find it stimulating enough. Right now, I work as an Admin Assist for a chimney/fireplace contractor and teach violin on the side, but would love to move into a health/science-related field. Don't really know what that will look like, but it's only now that I'm beginning to realize that this is how I feel.
Krampus ~ Where are you working now? I remember you were looking for work with an airline, no? Any luck on that front?
Dorian5 02-15-2012 10:28 AM
Hello ladies! My Valentine dinner last night was SO DELICIOUS. My honey grilled huge ribeye steaks that he marinated in Maker's Mark, worcestershire and lots of spices. I made bacon wrapped scallops with a garlic/lemon/chili butter and some roasted asparagus, and we split a square of tiramisu from Whole Foods for dessert. Oh, and we drank 2 bottles of Cabernet. Phew!
I just knew the scale this morning would hate me, but I got on it anyway (masochistic much?) But... I was the lowest I've been in a week at 123.8lbs, haha. :dizzy: Bizarre.
I just know 122-124 is my "set" weight, I bounce right back up to it when I'm lower and can't even seem to go higher, even while I eat without reserve. Last year I spent 3 months bouncing around 123.
Phew, I'll catch you all on personals next time when I don't have a cheap wine hangover. :lol:
Alexistrophic 02-15-2012 10:49 AM
Dorian~ Mmmmmm, that VDay dinner sounds delicious! (and also fairly low carb, if that counts for anything) Double score w. the scales being down today. Also, just wanted to say thanks for posting such amazing before/after pics. I look at them whenever my motivation is flagging. I feel like you're the perfect example of someone who wasn't hugely overweight to begin with, but took control of their body and made it fabulous. Keep on, girl!
LoveSweetsCA 02-15-2012 11:55 AM
Lasts nights dinner did not in anyway follow a typical eating day for me. We had steak and cauliflower gratin but I also made a banana cream pie. it was amazing...and we ate half of the pie.
I ran 8 miles this am and plan on no sugar/super low carb today!
I think the lower number you are on the scale - the harder we are on ourselves!
TurboMammoth 02-15-2012 12:27 PM
Lisa : Hope you had a nice V Day even with working late!
krampus : it's always nice to impressed the boyfriend's friends with a great gift ;) you go girl!
Lovesweet and Jojo : your food plans literraly rock! I'm eating healthy, but you are over the top healthy! :)
dianne : aww don't feel so bad... it happens to everyone, from times to times. Put this behind you and focus on the days to come. You're doing great, a one day slip up won't destroy all the efforts you put into that :hug:
pinkrunner : shovelling, the new high class training work out! ;) Seriously, I'm amazed you found the energy to get to the gym after the shoveling! great job!
Good lord this board is getting active! So much personals! LOL
***
Alexistrophic : great goal! :) nice to meet you!
Dorian : your Valentine's day menu sounds delishhh! And yay for the scale going down! Bodies can be so freak sometimes! Get well from the hangover ;)
LoveSweet (again lol) : your V Day dinner sounds delicious. Once isn't everyday, and your running sure helped the calories too! ;)
We had the most unromantic V Day yesterday, as we never realy celebrated it. We had a really healthy meal (white fish, aspargus and a salad) and I made my boyfriend finish the chocolat cake I baked over the weekend... it's finally gone! and I was feeling really better with my choices of getting fat free vanilla yogourt + fresh blueberries for dessert LOL
I'm trying to cut a bit on the carbs this week so I can load more saturday night before the race... so far, so good! the bf isn't even complaining about it :)
have a good day everyone!
JoJoP 02-15-2012 01:05 PM
I balance it all out with a bit of baked goods or chocolate once in a while ;) Thankfully my diet has enough wiggle-room that even a mini-binge won't get me off-track.
Omg my mom told me that I "look slim" today and that my face looks less round!! :D I have a strong jaw, so extra weight in my face tends to make my face look...unbalanced XP
I should add that, although I haven't seen a change in the scale in a while, I have been adding weights to my regular exercise routine and have not seen any gain, so that's good!
