S- I love the phrase "warning jeans". That is PERFECT! I'm gonna have to steal that. LOL Ditto about the sugar. Our bodies are high-functioning machines right now, so they react to crap, even in small amounts. In October I did this super grueling race with my hubby, and afterward I wanted Arby's. It was the first bad thing I had eaten since May and I was sick for 2 days. It was horrendous, and a reminder of just how much sh!t is in that stuff. What's worse is thinking how my body could ever be used to eating that and NOT react previously!
I have a sensitivity to sugar anyways, from my PCOS. It seems like my insuin resistance has always made me feel like everything is overly sugary and I drink a TON of water, b/c my mouth always feels parched. So suagr doesn't get me, but too rich of a food will really throw off my system.

sontaikle While my sweet tooth has all but disappeared over the last few months (yay!), it comes back every now and then. I'm usually able to kick it with a few dates. They are so good and SO sweet that after 4-6 I'm done. Plus, they're natural so I have an easier time digesting them than I do candy or other sweets.

AUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH! I've had such a blah, frustrating day!! It was just go-go-go from the time I woke up, and I woke up with a migraine. Tons of errands, grocery re-stock, doctor's appointment for my son with shots (boo!), cloest organizing and trying desperately to finish my 2011 scrapbook. I'm proud that i got through last September, but I had to pack it all up and put it aside for awhile again after today. i felt like i "had" to do it, since I've done every moment of every year since 2003, but I'd much rather spend my free time working out! LOL So that is back on the back-burner (LOL) and I did a nice hard run on the treadmill.

I hope everyone had a much cheerier day!

WOW. I am so tired right now! It's been a long time since I did a double session at the gym (going in the morning and the evening) but since I was off this week I figured I might as well give it a shot. I had a nice cardio/strength training class in the morning and a weight lifting class in the evening. I'm really feeling it.

I was down another pound to get to 131 I'm getting worried now because my ribs are starting to stick out. I really need to eat more I guess! I was aiming for 1600-1700 because I figured my metabolism would be slower but I guess it's not! I'm going to aim for 1800-2000 now and crack down and make sure I am getting the calories right and not overestimating.

I'm wondering if I have to eat even more though, since I lost these last four pounds fairly quickly.

On the bright side, I got a new toy—an iPhone 4s! It's my prize for reaching goal and I'm having a lot of fun with it!

ChickieChicks - I'm sorry your day was so busy! I also find it hard to get things done because I want to do something active instead!

indiblue - I love eating something natural that's sweet for the same reason. I'm staying away from processed sweets as much as I can.

S- AUGH! Why are we still losing weight?? I am down to 126. I know the logical answer, but I honestly can't make myself believe it. I AM EATING. A LOT. I EAT ALL THE TIME. And I don't workout much at all right now, b/c hubby is off work, so we have been doing house projects, etc. Seriously...why am I losing NOW?? Congrats on your double workout! I've done that on a few days and I am shot for the next two days afterwards.

You must be losing the weight that I should be losing! Honestly, how can I be maintaining on 1200 calories? The scale hasn't moved in four weeks, and while I am still hoping that this is down to an unusually bad period (bear in mind that I've never had a change in my weight loss pattern around my period in the entire time that I've been losing weight), generally being ill, and having to take codeine fairly often, there's a limit to how far that applies, surely. If it turns out that the new treatment I'm on for the ME, taking high doses of B12 and folate, causes weight gain, I will not be amused.

Esofia, I was maintaining at 1200-1400 for 5 months last year. Have you taken a diet break recently? If you're metabolism has adjusted to decreased calories it's probably incredibly efficient right now. Perhaps a 2-3 week period of eating at maintenance and then return to 1200 will be the jolt in your system that does the trick.

Sorry to hear about your period and general illness

To be honest, I don't dare. Normally I make sure not to get 10g of fat per meal, and yesterday I was very tired when I made lunch, didn't track it before I made it, and it included 12g fat. Not long afterwards, I had a gallstone attack as a result. The higher my calories go, the harder it's going to be to keep the level of fat eaten at any one time small enough to be safe. One of the main reasons I was eating 1200 was because I had the munchies fairly badly with this last period for a good couple of weeks, so I pretty much already have been eating at a higher level for two weeks! Now that I'm not as hungry, I think I'll go back to 1050 and see what happens. I just wish seeing the surgeon about my gallbladder hadn't been delayed, I'm starting to get various liver symptoms by now and apparently PMS can go crazy due to liver problems as well. The hormones seem to have settled down for the month now, at least, and thank you to everyone for your well wishes.

Whoops! Haven't been diligent in checking the thread! Sorry ladies!

I'm sort of getting annoyed with my father and brother at this point. I have chicken set aside for me to use to make lunch for my other brother and I (his high school leaves much to be desired when it comes to the nutritional content of the lunches) which I do every school night for the following morning.

Now I don't generally mind if my father and brother have some of the chicken—I just wish they would tell me! I went to grab some of the breaded chicken we had for my brother while I would use some of the chicken I grilled yesterday for my own sandwich. All of the breaded chicken was gone! I found out my father finished it and he argued that there were only four pieces of it left...but those four pieces could have been enough for at least a weeks' worth of lunches—possibly more!

My brother has done the same thing, eating a LOT of the chicken I have set aside and claiming there wasn't much left. They don't seem to understand that the amount they're eating is WAY TOO MUCH! My brother has easily eaten a week or more of my possible lunches in one sitting and doesn't understand why I get angry.

They ARE both welcome to eat it...they really just need to let me know so I don't go there to get some to make a wrap and it's all gone. My mother's told them the same thing since she generally wants all of us to eat healthier.

They eat other food of mine too. I've taken to hiding it at this point because it's getting frustrating. Since they can't apparently let me know when they finish the chicken off I've hid that at the back of the fridge.

I know hiding food is supposed to be bad, but I think it's justified in this case!

On the bright side, I had a bit of a NSV today. My fiance picked me up and remarked that I was "light as a feather" and quite easy to pick up.

Esofia - So sorry about your health issues I hope to hear good news soon.

ChickieChicks - I bet you never imagined you would have the problem of losing weight when you didn't want to! I certainly never did!

indiblue - I think when I inadvertently calorie cycled as it hit goal (I was eating anywhere from 1400-1800 while trying to stay on that higher end and failing) is part of the reason I dropped four pounds past my goal quite quickly. I guess I gave myself a boost and my body had a field day with it.

S- Awww....I pictured you getting lifted up and smiling. What an awesome compliment! Sorry about the men in your fam right now..ugh...they just don't GET how we function, I think. Most women are planners, and like things to be thought out. That is why we prepare food ahead of time, etc!! I'm not sure what would bother me more, not having the food I thought was there, or knowing that they are just consuming too much of it at one time! My hubby is a traditional guy who can EAT. And it is finally catching up to him. It helps him for me to pre-portion leftovers. (Helps me, too.) That way he doesn't polish off an entire meal for 3!

Esofia- I've been having a hard time controlling my fat intake lately, and I think it's b/c I've been heavy on the nuts.

Super busy here..and not hungry. I hate feeling like I am forcing myself to eat all day long, then bein hungry at night. I've always evenly spaced my meals, but I'm thinking I might want to try going light in the mornings, and save some cals for the evenings, when it all seems to catch up to me. Hmm.

I actually love this thread, great idea! I thought I had to get skinnier too. I was down to 114 lbs. a few months ago at 5'6" and had constant headaches, felt frequently faint and lacked overall energy. I gained back eleven (!) pounds on purpose and feel infinitely better. I'm currently 125 and look as lean as ever, my waist size never changed. I just ate really cleanly and exchanged the excessive cardio for weight training (I'm doing NROL4W) and love it. Everyone tells me I look just fine and for the first time, I actually believe them. The number on the scale doesn't tell the whole story - it's how your clothes fit, your energy levels, etc., etc.

Welcome, fitmom! How awesome that you figured out what works for you, and the number on the scale was not a dictator in your life! I'm a total cardio junkie. I used to do more weight training, but I feel like I'm getting too muscular, even though I do lift heavy weights. I have a predisposition to fast muscle gain, which is awesome, but honestly at this point, I;m not sure what workouts to do to keep my leab muscle tone, without adding too much bulk.

I now have a "bum knee". I'm angry, dissapointed and a bit depressed about it. My brother-in-law is a sports medicine doctor and told me that I;m probably rubbing the joint capsule on one side. It isn't a huge injury, and I have a really high range of motion, considering. I can Zumba. I can cycle and lift weights. But I CAN NOT RUN. The forward leg extension in my stride is excruciating. I made it through a really light jog/fast walk yesterday for an hour, but today I could barely walk on it. This happened a few weeks ago, so I cut back for a week and it felt all better. I have no idea why it is happening again, but I couldn't even walk a quarter mile at a 2.0 pace this morning. BLAH!

I want to take up running again. I stopped back when I was almost 30 pounds heavier than I am now because my knee was bothering me. I don't want to run marathons or anything but I think it would be good to start up again Hopefully since I'm lighter now it will be easier and less stressful on my joints.

I also need to stop spending money on clothes...I should be saving my money

fitmom - yay! you're back! I was wondering what happened to you Don't know if you remember me or not...I think I was still kinda new when you were around. I'm glad you're much better now.

gogosj - you'll be joining us soon enough

ChickieChicks - I'm sorry to hear about your knee! Injuries are so frustrating when you want to exercise...I hope you get better soon.

ChickieChicks: I wish that I was the type to build muscle really easily, lol. I posted a photo of where I'm at physique-wise in my profile if you're interested and you'll see that I'm not bulky at all, just kind of toned. Zumba sounds fun but I have to watch it because the weight would slide off me and I worked hard to build back some of my muscle mass. And take care of that knee.

sontaikle: I don't remember you but to be fair, I was in a really bad place the last time I chatted here due to a family tragedy so I wasn't myself, sorry. But I'm much better now and I'm happy to be back amongst some many nice people here.
