Default Why you should be suspicious of extreme weight-loss approaches

Hello Feathers,
I've been hanging out mostly on the Maintainers board for the last few months, but this article (and the original, which can be accessed here: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3001541/)
was so apropos of prior debates on this very board, that I thought I'd cross-post it here. This is why I am so skeptical of recent "scientist-recommended" diet trends like the sugar-is-toxic movement and the Paleo "lifestyle." It's a short read but quite informative. Yes, I'm a scientist- and a physician.

Can't access the article, but I TOTALLY agree that any diet that is extreme just isn't going to last. Ask yourself: Can I do this forever? Is this reasonable? Is this ME and my LIFE forever?

If not...you will NOT keep the weight off. All of these diets that are extreme, and then "phase off" don't seem to have many maintainers. I hate posts like, "Doing Atkins AGAIN...trusty ol' Atkins." Huh? Me-thinks Atkins might not be working....

Nope it was the right place - that was the point - that the authors selectively cherry-picked articles to review to "prove" a ridiculous point (the second link makes this more clear in the subtitle: How to prove anything with a review article).
