August Feathers Chat!

I totally posted in the July thread this morning, silly me! :dizzy:

----

Kind of down because I didn't meet my August 1st goal of 122lbs. I was up from 123.2lbs on Friday to 123.8lbs this morning after salt and running yesterday, and eating maintenance on Saturday. It sucks, but it just makes me determined to make another goal for September 1st. 120lbs would be doable, I think.

Another hurdle that I'm struggling with is that the boyfriend and I found a house to rent that we really love, but we're going to have to get in there quick so we don't lose it to someone else. That means saving every penny possible to get the security deposit and the hefty pet fee to the owner ASAP. So that means making sure I watch my food budget -- no more big, pretty salads from Whole Foods at $8 a pound. But that's okay, I can still manage healthy eating on a budget.

I think my boyfriend is interested in trying to lose a little weight -- he likes very low-maintenance food. He CAN cook, and very well, but he works very hard at work and likes the convenience of fast food. I told him when we get a place together it will be just as easy for me to pack two lunches as it would be to pack one.

More personals later, but wanted to say welcome back, krampus! Hope the time change doesn't kick your arse for too long.

claire0412 08-01-2011 09:35 AM

Hey Dorian, thanks for opening the thread! Just a quick one from me to say.... I passed my MA exam and am now finished :))) My bandages are off and I'm off to backpack arounf turkey for 3 weeks! See you all when I get back :)) xx

sumire 08-01-2011 11:15 AM

August already! How does this happen?

I'm happy to report that this morning I saw a new low weight--126, a pound under my previous low of 127. :yay: It's making me think I should have been less stubborn and tweaked my plan a little sooner, rather than waiting a few months. But hey, no harm done, and it's always maintenance practice as long as I'm not gaining. :)
----

krampus: I echo Dorian5 in saying WELCOME HOME! Hope you settle in nicely and find your groove.

Dorian5: Congrats on the rental house! We've had to be frugal this year, too, for various reasons, and I sure do miss those Whole Foods salads. Don't be down about your goal--at your low weight, any loss at all is a win! :D

claire: Congrats on the MA! :bravo: You've earned a break--enjoy your trip!

Hope everyone else is doing well!

mamamorgan 08-01-2011 11:42 AM

Hello ladies, I am new to 3FC, I have been here maybe 2 weeks. I just joined the featherweight board as of a few days ago, didn't know it was here and didn't know it applied to me! I hope to be active and join everyone on their weight loss journeys.

philana 08-01-2011 11:51 AM

Good one Dorian! And on the not loosing as much as you'd like - you are still doing good! You are so close to goal, it's going to go slower, just be happy about the distance you came :D

claire! congrats!!!!!

sumire - congrats on the loss! It's nice to be surprised by good results :D

morgan - welcome, hope you find good support here :D
--

Well, I am super postive again. Even though the scale showed my about 3/4lbs above my minigoal weight that I was at last friday. I know all the bday foodies have done that. I am also pretty sure I can get it gone soon enough. I am gonna go on my first c25k run in 10 mins. And I am pretty psyched. I can't believe that in 10 weeks I'll be able to run 5k. But I also know it should be possible. Because I never thought I'd go to the gym many times a week and enjoy it either... but I am. So... YIKES. Hihi. Will report back later!
I'm almost having more fun learning about sports and foods than the weight loss itsself. Feeling muscles build up in places I've never had them before is just so cool!

sumire 08-01-2011 11:52 AM

mamamorgan, :welcome3:

Congrats on your losses so far! I was digging through your posts and see that you have an Australian shepherd. Aussies are THE BEST dogs in the world! We had two (one at a time, that is) when I was growing up, and if I didn't live in a tiny big-city apartment (that doesn't allow pets, though we all have cats anyway :p), I'd have one now.

philana: I missed your post while I was writing... Glad you're enjoying yourself & your new fitness fun! I've had the same experience. Now that I have found what I like to do in terms of exercise, I can't believe I used to hate it (and avoid it like the plague)! All the runners around here have started to get me curious, and I'm considering doing C25K once the weather cools off. Good luck!

claire0412 08-01-2011 12:10 PM

Sumire Well done! I love the new lows ;) You are so close now!!

Krampus Welcome back / home (?!). I hope you are enjoying NY and time with your parents!

mamamorgan welcome!

Dorian Ooh the saving will be completely worth it in the end, I hope you get it! What nice news!

Philana Yay for you discovering the fun to be had with exercise and healthy food, it is the key to a long, healthy life!

Diet has gone out of the window today obviously, I drank 1/2 bottle of Champagne at 1pm :) However, I've got an hour between now and going out for celebratory dinner (for a lovely on plan Mango beef salad, mmmm) to a) sober up b) get my packing done! I went to the hairdressers high on champagne and euphoria and got a full fringe (bangs) cut in. It doesn't sound like a recipe for sound decision making but I actually quite like it :)
My weight was up to 67.8kg this morning but I blame that on time of the month, flying and general meh-ness. I'm sure it'll have gone down by the time I get back from holiday.

I will be able to swim on holiday and I'm taking my resistance bands with me, and we can't afford to eat out more than once a day so I'm sure I'll come back skinnier and will check in with you guys for a revised goal. Until then, good luck everyone and enjoy August :)

laurielou 08-01-2011 12:58 PM

Philana - I signed up to do a 5k in September. What does your training regimen look like? Right now I'm running 2-3 miles on the treadmill 5x a week, but running outside is a WHOLE different story. It's so much harder!

--

Well, I leave for Cancun in 4 days (FRIDAY!!!) and I return on the 10th. My scale broke and I've been using the scale at the gym to monitor my weight loss. I have NO IDEA if I reached my goal weight (121 lbs) because I have been weighing myself in the evening in gym clothes and yesterday I weighed in at 126 (sad face). But, I used to weigh myself in the morning before I got in the shower and I was 124-ish in the morning, and when I used to weigh at the gym in the evening I was 128-ish. So I've lost ~2 pounds, which is great! I don't have a lot to lose and these last few pounds are really coming off slowly... Must keep going!!!

philana 08-01-2011 01:11 PM

sumire - thanks! if it's gonna work the way people say it will, i'll call it a mircale! hehe

claire - ENJOY! that's gonna be a great well deserved trip! Will miss your updates, hope to hear from you when you get back!

laurie - I am doing the c25k program, I just did the Week 1 Day 1 run: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml (scroll down) - I also go to the gym 4-5 times a week and take my bike to work 2-3 times a week (an hour each day). Just started on the running for the first time, and it was hard! Running is so different from cardio stuff in the gym or riding my bike for long ends or walking for hours. Crazy really.

Amy3680 08-01-2011 03:16 PM

Hi feathers! I can't believe it's already August either. After doing pretty well on my plan, it went out the window this weekend with planning for my DD 2nd birthday party. I made the cake, along w/ buttercream/whipped cream icing. Maybe I should have ordered it or asked a relative to make it since I ate so much icing I made myself sick on Friday (yuck), then proceeded to eat some of the left over on Sunday before throwing the rest away.

Between eating out of the house and the party, and not exercising since Friday, I feel so fluffy. Not good since we're leaving for the beach this Saturday and I still can't fit in my clothes. I am so tired today and want to take a nap. I already feel so behind for the week and it's only Monday.

Off to lift weights if DD will stay asleep. I also have a sink of dirty dishes, laundry to do and need to menu plan for the week and pack breakfasts/lunches/snacks for tomrrow. Auggghhh!

skinnyelle39 08-01-2011 04:16 PM

Claire0412 Enjoy your trip and dont sweat those celebratory water weight lbs!

Dorian5 You had a great month even if you didnt reach your goal Im sure you will reach the september goal. The end of july was rough for me too!

sumire Awesome job on the new low! You are one of my many inspirations on 3fc bc of your progress since we had similar starting weights. What tweaking did you do to your plan? I may need to throw it into my mix as well!

mamamorgan Welcome! You will find great support and tons of motivation on the featherweights thread. There are some really awesome women here! Good luck!

krampus Welcome back! What could be more American than a meal at Denny's upon your arrival? lol nice touch hope you enjoyed :)

philana Im sporadically and I do mean sporadically doing C25K as well. I think Im on the 2nd day of the 3rd week. Im amazed at how much I actually enjoy the runs now and that I can run much more than I ever dreamed I could. It totally works! good luck with your training!

amy3680 uuuuuGH!!! The dreaded " fluffy" feeling. Im just now getting back to feeling like myself after a week of severe over indulgence. Luckily returning to regular exercise and healthy eating helps it go away. Good luck getting back on track!

Brand new month ladies! Make it count!

sumire 08-01-2011 06:41 PM

skinnyelle: I'm inspired by you, too, and your tiny waist. :D
1) I started calorie cycling again. Used to do it sort of unofficially but fell into the habit of eating at pretty much the same level every day. My calorie level is still basically the same (it averages out to around 1550 calories a day), but I went to the freedieting calorie calculator and have gone by their calorie cycling plan.
2) More cardio! This was probably my major issue. I'd gotten to where I focused really heavily on strength training and was really only doing one major cardio session per week. I've started adding in around 15-30 minutes of cardio most days after my strength training--fairly intense, I basically mime like I'm jump roping. Feels silly, but I don't have enough room in my tiny apartment to actually jump rope, haha, and it definitely works to get my heart rate up.

fitmom 08-01-2011 09:48 PM

Hi Feathers! Back from my vacation, tanned, rest and relaxed, lol. Don't have time to respond individually to everyone b/c I'm knee-deep in laundry. ;)

My hips went down another 1/2 inch and my body fat is exactly 17%. I'm so excited, lol. :D And I have a signature. Very cool. Weight is holding steady at 117 lbs. even after my vacation so that's good, right?

Eating on vacation was surprisingly easy, gave myself permission to take the week off from formal exercise to focus on my kids and hubby.

Wore my bikini and didn't give a damn what anyone thought except me, lol. Hubby and sons said I looked nice. Bless their hearts. :) I did take a few photos so now I just need to muster the courage to post them. Hopefully, you won't laugh at the middle-aged mother in the green bikini, lol.

A woman I started talking to at the pool thought I was 34 - can you imagine? I was thrilled. She seemed genuinely surprised when I told her I was a mere four months from turning 40. She commented that I was 'youthful-looking'. :) I've been so freaked about turning 40 that she totally made my year and I told her just that.

Tomorrow I'm back to exercising for the first time in over a week. Planned to do HIIT this morning but hubby took the day off of work and we ran errands and did the food shopping and some laundry. I lead such an exciting life, lol.

Anyway, good to be back and look forward to chatting with all. :)

philana 08-02-2011 03:28 AM

Just a quick little happydance - I 'gained' about 4lbs after my birthday, and 3lbs is already gone again. So I am almostttt back at mini-goal weight from last friday, and then I can start towards my new minigoal.

FatPantsSkinnyJeans 08-02-2011 07:08 AM

Hey Feathers!

New month already?! Wow. Time is flying.

So, I realized I've basically been maintaining for awhile now. As such, it is time for me to make some changes to re-start weight loss and to re-focus my energies.

Goals for the month:
-Complete all scheduled workouts for September 1/2 Marathon
-Make every effort to stay within calories each day, ESPECIALLY if I'm eating out/have social engagements. No more just blowing the whole day because of one indulgent situation
-Reduce stress as much as possible, or at least avoid getting overly bent out of shape about issues I can't control

As I posted over in the 20-something thread, my mantra will be:

"If hunger is not the problem, eating is not the solution."

Someone here had a signature with this quote, and it is right up my alley!

Dorian-- Thanks for starting the chat. Good luck w/ the house. You'll get into a groove with your new budget before you know it!

Claire-- Glad your footsie is better. Have an amazing trip!! Swimming and resistance bands will have you toned in no time.

sumire-- I love that idea of "maintenance practice." That is such a positive outlook!

Welcome, mamamorgan! (Is it weird that I keep thinking your User Name says Mammogram, when I look at it fast?? haha)

philana-- Yay for running! Let us know how it goes.

laurielou
--Hope you have a lovely vaca! I never weigh myself in the evening, it just makes me sad. hahaha. I believe in the Naked Morning Post-Bathroom weigh in. Anywho, enjoy!

Amy--Ahhh, I hear you on the Fluffy factor. But, it's a new month, and a new chance to start off right. We can do it!

Skinnyelle
--Yep, you are right. New month, fresh start. Gotta make it count!

fitmom--YAY for the bikini! I'm sure you looked fab. More importantly, you FELT good. Your boys are all that matter :)

OK, I'm off to get my run in. Hoping for a balanced day for all of us! :)

ttyl!

banananutmuffin 08-02-2011 08:59 AM

Hi Ladies!

Just popping in for a quick hello. My diet has been way off track lately. I have a huge problem with portion sizes. I need to learn to eat until I'm not hungry, not until I'm stuffed like a Thanksgiving turkey.

Thanksgiving is on my mind, though. I'll be seeing family that I haven't seen in months, and I'd really like to wow them. I need to get on track, however, if that's going to happen.

I keep promising myself every night that "tomorrow will be different," but that just hasn't happened yet.

aimeebell 08-02-2011 09:33 AM

Hi Feathers! Happy August! The heat has been zapping my will to run. I have only been running twice a week for the past month. My Nike+ app finally reads 100 total miles. I started using it April 26, so about three months. At first I was disappointed, then I thought I have run 100 miles in about 100 days. That is 100 more miles than I ran this time last year.

I have no idea how with all my crazy eating, but I have maintained my weight from the first day of July until now at 132 lbs. I feel so fat though. The tricks the brain plays. I swear I look chubbier, but the scale remains steady. I need to eat better foods and less junk because I just feel so much better when I do. The scale says 132, but I feel 142.

aimeebell 08-02-2011 09:49 AM

Claire Congrats on passing the exam, and I bet it feels great to have the bandages off too. Backpacking for three weeks.....sounds like a good weight loss plan.
Dorian I just signed a lease on a house with my fiance. It was so stressful for me. I found a house I loved, but three other people also found it on the first day it was listed, and we lost out :( It was perfect and nothing else has measured up. I hated the rush feeling of having to sign on a house NOW before someone else snatched it up, and I think ended up rushing myself into the wrong decision. The stress is causing me to EAT. My fiance brought me a king size candy bar on signing day because chocolate is the only thing that soothes me. Ten more days till moving day.
Philana Have fun with C25K. You will feel so amazingly proud of yourself when you complete it!
Amy That dang frosting is so hard to resist. Happy birthday to your daughter!
Fitmom It sounds like you completely enjoyed your vacation! I am sure you looked fabulous in your bikini on the beach!

Dorian5 08-02-2011 11:53 AM

Hello feathers! My weight is up this morning, but I'm not stressing it too much, I had a hard run and a lot of salt yesterday (cottage cheese, soup..) I ate fairly well all day, until I noticed some chocolate animal crackers at the grocery store yesterday. The bag said 16 cookies for only 130 calories, so I figured they would cure any chocolate cravings I had, and plus a huge 1 pound bag was only $2!

It would have been a good snack in moderation, but I ate about 300 calories worth when I got home, they were so good. I just kept sticking my hand in the bag, pulling out a handful, and putting them into my mouth. This put my calories at 1450, but I got in a good run (treadmill said 300 calories) and then took my dog on a walk, so I think I evened out. Still, it was a purchase I should have avoided. If I plan to eat them in the future, I'll have to open the bag, count out my treat onto a plate, and then put the bag back before I take my cookies somewhere else in the house.

My new favorite work-day breakfast (meaning I can eat it at my desk) is plain greek yogurt and low sugar oatmeal. NOT mixed together - I tried that and didn't dig it. But the fiber in the oatmeal and the protein in the yogurt make me feel so full for a long time, plus the cold yogurt and then the warm oatmeal make it interesting to go back and forth. A few berries thrown into the yogurt and I'm set. I look forward to breakfast as soon as I wake up now, haha.

---

mamamorgan - Welcome! Always great to have new feathers!

philana - Glad to hear you had a great birthday! Nice work on prying that quick gain off, AND staying level headed about it instead of freaking out. :)

sumire - Nice work! New lows are so awesome, I feel elated and SKINNY all day after I reach one. Congrats!

claire0412 - Mmmm, I LOVE champagne, and mango beef salad sounds AWESOME! YAY FOR BANGS/FRINGE! I have to have bangs, I have a big forehead. Way to go, bringing your resistance bands along! Have fun on holiday!

laurielou - Wow, Cancun! That's excellent! I hope you have fun! I hear you about these last pounds, they certainly put up a fight! But it sounds like you're doing all the right things, they won't stick around and I'm sure you're already looking great!

Amy3680 - Yummm, cake. I love cake. I am a slave to cake. Any cake. Good luck staying on plan! Drink plenty of water, it might help with that "fluffy" feeling!

skinnyelle39 - Thanks for the positive reinforcement. We'll make this month count! :D

fitmom - Would love to see your bikini, I'm sure you looked great! You're so fit, I can't imagine you NOT looking good in a bikini! I'm sure much better than a lot of females half your age -- work it! Stoked to hear about your 1/2" loss as well, that's incredible!

FatPantsSkinnyJeans - I dig your goals, especially the "reduce stress about things you can't do anything about" - I can be a control freak and try to plan things that are unplannable and beyond my control, then STRESS about it! I need to make this a goal of mine as well! I dig the mantra too.

banananutmuffin - You'll find your groove soon, portion sizes are such a pain in the arse. I wish I could eyeball correct portions, but everytime I try and then check myself, I'm WAY off and it's closer to 2 portions. I start getting excited about Thanksgiving when fall starts rolling around, I love the food/family atmosphere! You'll be so trim by then, everyone will be awed. :)

aimeebell - I KNOW! It's so frackin' hot! I know what you mean about feeling bigger, you would think that just looking in a mirror would tell you if you were thicker or not, but your brain distorts your view of yourself depending on how you feel. Frustrating! Keep your chin up and know that you look great still, and are working on looking even better! 100 miles is awesome! I'm so sorry about the house that you loved, it is so hard to not get stressed and freaked out when you know that other people are vying for the same thing YOU want and there's only ONE! I hope you can manage to stay calm and level headed throughout the moving process and find that you really like the house you have.

You ladies are all totally awesome.

fitmom 08-02-2011 01:49 PM

Dorian5: I've heard that Greek yogurt is really good. I personally do not like the taste of yogurt (gasp!) but my sons do and I saw that Yoplait now has a Greek-style yogurt so I think I may purchase it for them. Ah, oatmeal, that's what I ate every morning when I was away - with dried cranberries, slivered almonds and cinnamon on top. Don't beat yourself up about the so-called 'slip'. Just move forward. I try not to keep tempting things in the house even for the kids because then I find myself having just one which turns into twenty, lol.

aimeebell: I have days like that too when I feel chubby. Sometimes it's because I had a fizzy drink which can bloat you or the TOM plays havoc with my body image. Don't worry you're not alone in that thinking. Keep up the excellent work.

FatsPantsSkinnyJeans: I hope your run wasn't in this godawful heat that we've been having, lol. Isn't running awesome? I love, love, love it. Did I mention I love it?!?

banananutmuffin: It's a new month so therefore a new slate. You've come to far to throw in the towel now. You can do it. We're with you all the way. :)

I'm itching to getting back to my running. Tomorrow I start towards my 4K goal. Adding a little mileage on each week and keeping my time steady. We'll see though. Tonight is my kettlebells and core work after the kids are in bed. I'm starting to love planks, weird or what?!?

This afternoon I'm taking the training wheels off my younger son's bike and teaching him how to ride without them. Should make for an interesting afternoon. Then we have to practice tying his sneakers later.

Had my customary salad topped with tuna for lunch with a baked sweet potato. As much as I loved being away, it does feel good to be back on my regular diet and exercise schedule.

DH says he wants to go down the shore (just a short car trip for us) sometime this month before the kids start school again. Hopefully, we will book the hotel this weekend for a few weeks from now. Now I'm all stressed about the bikini again, lol.

Sounds like everyone is ready to buckle down for the month ahead! Woot! :D

aimeebell 08-02-2011 03:29 PM

I think I have figured out what my problem is. I AM HUNGRY. Geez oh Pete. I am just hungry all the time. It's 3 o'clock and I feel like I could chew off my arm. I had breakfast at 10:00, steel cut oats with a little PB mixed in, and lunch at 1:00, cob of corn, sweet potato, and a turkey and cheese rollup on a whole grain light tortilla. It was a decent sized lunch, and yet two hours later I am ravenous.

fitmom 08-02-2011 03:36 PM

aimeebell: Have a protein snack. Right now, as I type, I'm noshing on apple slices dipped in all-natural peanut butter. That's what I do. Hope this helps. :)

This is what I do too! Yes, you should have a snack with some protein, aimeebell! :) I just had some blueberries and cottage cheese. :T

I just can't make it until dinner otherwise!

OMG! Blueberries with cottage cheese topped with a few walnuts is my mid-morning snack, lol. Are we brain twins?!?

Delicious brain twins. I have walnuts at home for the muffins I make, I'm going to totally throw some in my cottage cheese tomorrow! Yum!

philana 08-02-2011 05:00 PM

Uhg. My day was decent, had a big lunch but then made the nicest low cal salad for dinner. And as I was sitting on my couch watching one episode of Alphas before going to the gym I remembered the Tony's Chocolonely in my kitchen. And I just HAD to get it. Ofcourse I got all uhg feeling after eating half of that and just didn't want to go to the gym. The only good news is - all the bad foods that people brought into my house as "gifts" for my bday are now gone. So there's no off-plan foods anymore, that will make things MUCH easier.

I didn't think I had actual food issues except pure laziness. But now I start to notice, if there's bad food in the house - I can NOT control myself. I just have to have it. It's super easy for me to just not buy the bad stuff. But when it's here I am so screwed.

fitmom 08-02-2011 06:33 PM

philana: You've got to get rid of the junk food, lol. I really try to keep the treats in my pantry to a bare minimum but with two growing boys it's not easy because then my DH and I start snacking and can't stop. BTW, Happy belated birthday! I've been MIA because I've been away - hope it was a good one. :) Don't stress too much about the treats, birthdays are special. Tomorrow's another day, right?

It's a lot of work for me to stay on plan, and so easy to give in to my laziness. Right now I'm struggling to plan and cook meals ahead so I've no excuse not to eat all my veggies or get enough protein.

Also, I ate the last piece of DD's birthday cake last night, so no more of that to tempt me, either. Thank goodness my dad likes to take home leftovers or else I'd of had twice as much left. Still lots of junk food around for DH and DD but nothing I really like so it's ok.

BTW, I like your avatar-big fan of TB and the books here!

sumire 08-02-2011 08:46 PM

fitmom: Welcome back from vacation! Sounds like you totally rocked it. :)

FatPantsSkinnyJeans: Sounds like some great goals! A half marathon, wow! I'm impressed. Good luck finishing up training!

banananutmuffin: Hope you get back on track soon! You can do it! :carrot:

aimeebell: Hope those hungries calm down. That's the worst! I agree with fitmom & Dorian5, protein snacks & non-starchy vegetables are things that ward off my hunger.

Dorian5: I live on plain greek yogurt and fruit. So good and so filling! Darn those animal cookies, but 1450 sounds fine to me anyway, so I'd count it as a win. :)

philana: For what it's worth, when I started losing weight, I also had trouble controlling myself when it came to junk food. So I told myself, no chips, no fries, no desserts (besides fruit). I went for months without these things--didn't keep them around the apartment, didn't have them when I was out--then started re-introducing a little bit here and there as a treat. Now I have no trouble not eating any when it's around (hubby likes to keep junk food around the place, so it's always here) or telling myself, ok, I get 50 calories worth of cookies/whatever and stopping there. Everybody's different, of course, but that was what worked for me. I make a point of not eating junk food when I'm really hungry, though; I fill up on something healthy first. And now that I'm calorie cycling again, I find that my low calorie days require WAY more willpower from me than my days that are 100-200 calories higher.

Thank you for the super nice replies fitmom, Amy en sumire! That helps so much. I'll just make sure I don't have junkfood around when I don't think I should eat it. So next time people bring me stuff I am giving it back or treating my housemates. I can't bring myself to throw it out, which is what turned this into a mini disaster.

Happy to report that I did not gain any real weight because of it. Just hovering around the mini-goal from last friday.

NOOO I typed a long post and lost it.

SparkNotes version:
-Weighed 136 Monday when I woke up. Weighed 132 yesterday and 131 today.
-Haven't slept still. Ran 3 miles, walked 4, and went to Zumba class yesterday to try and make myself tired.
-May be a new born Zumba addict, it was much more fun than I expected it would be!

Glad you made it back over there in one piece! Hope things go well for you getting settled, and you've got me curious about Zumba; will have to check it out at some point! :)

Hahaha! This is sooo me lol!

Hey everyone! Happy August. Where has the time gone?! I joined 3FC on 6-21-11, weighing in at 145. Side note: My highest-ever weight was 156. I had shot up from 127 in almost NO time as a side effect of Paxil. And we all know it is harder to come off than it is to go on ;)

But anywho, as of this morning I am down to 136 from my 145 on 6/21. I have to say, I am pretty proud of myself. I notice I am slimmer. I am fitting into things I haven't fit into in forever. I actually got a huuuuge bag of clothes that are now too big for me together last night & I plan on taking them to Good Will or something of the like. My goal weight is 125 so I am almost half way there!

My boyfriend has been gone almost three weeks now for some training for the military. He gets back tomorrow & I cannot wait to see him!!! His 24th bday is this Friday, in two days. We are both trying to pinch pennies so he told me I wasn't allowed to get him anything. Obviously, he is getting presents so I got creative. I made him a humongous posterboard bday card, a scrapbook full of pics of us & movie stubs, tickets from games we have been to, his speeding ticket from our beach trip, etc. Lol. Oh and he is a huge FL Gators fan so tomorrow I am making him a Gator made of cupcakes, complete with the colored icing, eyeballs, teeth, and the whole nine yards. Wish me luck! ;)

Hope everyone has a great day!

Well, I ran this morning after a week and a half of not, lol. Did 3.1 miles in 27 minutes. Not bad, I think for adding on 1/10 of a mile. Although I'm kind of sore so I'm sure I'll be feeling it tomorrow. Tonight is Pilates so that may stave off any undue soreness.

Has anyone heard this? I was on the Discovery Health Network website last night and read that I should be taking my weight (117 lbs.) and multiplying that by 12 to get me my caloric daily intake which would equal roughly 1400 calories! Not enough to sustain me. Maybe they meant that for someone who was more sedentary than me. I could never eat that little especially on the days I run or do HIIT. I need like 1800 calories to power through those grueling workouts. I'm totally confused.

sumire: Thanks, glad to be back but not really, lol. I love living the vacation lifestyle. One week of no cooking or making beds or anything. This mom was happy, happy, happy.

nikkinouille: That's awesome about the weight loss!! When the scale moves in the right direction, it's cause for a celebration. I was on Paxil years ago and I didn't gain any weight, isn't that weird? I guess everyone's different. Oh, that's so nice about your bf coming home. My hubby travels once a year to Vegas for a conference and I miss him like crazy! I'm in awe at anyone who can bake. I love to cook but baking is so not my thing.

philana: Glad to see that your weight is holding steady. That's always a good thing.

krampus: That happens to me sometimes - I type out a long post and it vanishes, lol.

skinnyelle39: Isn't that so true? It's like the junk food is calling your name, seriously.

This afternoon it's more of me trying to teach my younger son how to ride a bike sans training wheels. He actually was getting it yesterday. My older son was showing him how to do it. I love that the kids are getting older, lol. Less work for me...sometimes. Haha

123.2 this morning after a hard run last night, so I think I'm even lower than that. Time will tell, I'm excited about my weigh in on Friday, I've been doing GREAT this week! I managed to have ONE serving of animals crackers last night with a mug of unsweetened almond milk, it hit the spot. ;)

But, I am so tired today. I have been for the past few days. I worry that I don't get enough iron, I don't generally eat red meat. Not that I avoid it on purpose, I just eat lean chicken breast and turkey instead. Plus, I'm not very good about taking my multivitamin, I'll have to make sure I get it in at lunch (if I don't take it after eating I get so, so sick.) Maybe I'll ask the boyfriend to make steak for dinner.

I am going to get a drink with a friend after work, he is leaving tomorrow to go back to Texas. I convinced him to do a drink instead of dinner to save myself from spending calories and cash while dining out. I am trying to decide what to get to drink. My FAVORITE is gin and tonic, but no where carries diet tonic yet, so it's a little calorie heavy to order at a bar. Diet coke and rum? Maybe just a light beer? Hmmm, decisions.

Hope everyone is doing well! And yeah, fitmom, that calorie allotment does sound low... That's supposed to be maintenance? 1400?

ETA: I really love avocados, but I haven't eaten them during my weight loss efforts due my fear of how high-calorie they are, even though I know they're full of good stuff. Well, I started working half of one into my lunch salad each day. I'm totally obsessed with them now and I like to save as many chunks as I can for the last bite of salad, like I used to do with the Lucky Charm marshmallows as a kid.

nikkinouille 08-03-2011 03:48 PM

@ Dorian - I looooove avocado too! Enjoy :)

jens10 08-03-2011 05:04 PM

Congrats to everyone!

nikkinouille- I'm totally amazed by your progress! And hope you enjoy your time with the BF, the cupcakes sound delish.

I do not have progress to report, but feel pretty good about maintaining over a 2 week vacation without access to a gym or a kitchen. Eating every meal at a country club or restaurant was a test of will power. Hope to lose 4 pounds by September 1. Doable?

jens10 08-03-2011 05:06 PM

Oh, and avacados with salt and lime are so good...

ann71 08-03-2011 07:38 PM

Sorry for no personals. I will try to post better in the next few days. After some mediocre eating, last week, my weigh in today was only .5 pounds up from my lowest, so that was a relief. I've been exercising a ton, because the weather is just perfect for it now, highs around 80 every day, with a nice breeze most days.
