sumire - funny you should mention greek yoghurt, i read about it on another board on 3FC and i bought some today and had the most amazing OMGWTFBBQ experience in a while. I usually don't like yoghurt, but this is so good! And so filling. Had it with an apple and 2 teaspoons of sugar. No problem! Tempeh, I should really take some time to figure out how to make that properly, I love it when i get veggie roti at the indonesian place.

dianne - happy for you that the binge didn't set you back too much. So! Just don't fret over it anymore and move forward :D

claire - well hi there! coolbeans. What's in Vienna? (except you.. duh) Enjoy the mexfoodies. It's nice stuff. And if I were you I'd enjoy a nice taco instead of the coctail :p way more filling for the same calories!

---

So, I'm super happy! I just got home from the gym, I slacked just a tiny bit but that's no problem, since as of this week I'm going 5 times, and I am riding my bike to work 3/4 times a week also (50mins total back and forth).

Why I'm happy is because I've eaten a TON, but barely any calories. I barely make it over a 1000 today. Wasn't the plan, but I decided to skip the carbs for lunch and had a nice omelet with tomato and onion and some lettuce with lemon and dill on the side. And then as an after-lunch snack I had amazing greek yoghurt with half an apple and a bit of sugar. And then an eggcake. And now I'm having dinner which is just a massive bowl with chicory/witloof, garlic, mayonaise, other half of apple, egg and some couscous.

I've still not lost an ounce since I started last thursday evening. But I'll not focus on it so much, because I'm just happy to eat really nice - my skin feels better and my energy is up. And the gym and sauna are just a nice addition to daily life!

Dorian5 07-12-2011 09:41 PM

Just checking in! Pulled in an awesome haul from Whole Foods and made dinner and all my food for tomorrow. I had a big, awesome veggie burger for dinner tonight with onions and tomatoes and mustard, yum! For a side I baked "fries" made out of summer squash from my grandmas garden that were OUT of this WORLD! I still have some calories left for the day so I will have a greek yogurt after my run tonight.

I have a gigantic salad for lunch tomorrow with all of my favorite things on it, like grilled chicken and onions and cucumbers and tomatoes and carrots... yum! I have cantaloupe and cottage cheese for a snack and a big fruit/fiber/protein filled breakfast. I love going to Whole Foods. :T

----

skinnyelle39 - You are doing a fantastic job and looking great (the 20-something thread pictures were amazing, you are so cute -- where the **** did that pink skirt come from, omg! cute!)

sumire - Ugh, smack your husband for me for making weight loss seem so easy. Haha. I'm on the pill now, I can't remember the last time I had a cramp or any PMS or anything like that, I am scared now, gulp! :dizzy:

claire0412 - I like the idea of you sticking to what you're doing -- we're supposed to be making lifestyle changes here, after all. ;) So have your piece of cake! In moderation of course. ;) Sorry to hear about paperwork stressing you out, but yum to mexican food!

fitmom - You are BURNING it UP! NICE WORK!! Can't wait to hear about Disney!

philana - Sounds like you are doing a fantastic job, I love the motivation! Be sure that you are fueling your body for all those workouts though, I would imagine at 1000 calories you're at quite a deficit for the day, be sure you aren't doing any harm to your metabolism. Your food sounds EXCELLENT by the way, I am a couscous FREAK. :T

Dianne042425 - Wow, talk about damage control, you totally undid that binge, nice work!! My hips just recently slimmed down, I finally got that pocket of fatty nonsense under my belly button to cooperate with these last couple of pounds. You are doing fantastic and I can't wait to hear about all the pounds melting off of you and how confident you feel!

mortonpixie - Phew you sound so BUSY! Anyone who uses the excuse that they're "too busy" need only look at you to be guilted into working out! I think I'll go for a run now...

krampus - is missing! I hope you are doing well and your stress level isn't too high from moving!

philana 07-13-2011 02:00 AM

YAY! The scale moved!!! 2.2lbs gone :D Finally. I'm at 150 lbs now :D

Dorian - your food sounds amazing also, very nice! How many calories do you eat every day? And I agree, 1000 is too low, but it just happened that way after a bunch of fulfilling foods that day. My goal is between 1250-1500 every day. My average for the week has been 1350, so no worries!

krampus 07-13-2011 03:11 AM

I'm not missing! I'm here! Sorry for being quiet. Actually today I found out I don't have to move all my furniture like I thought - big win considering I totally BORKED my knee running yesterday and can barely hobble up and down a flight of stairs without it feeling like it's going to collapse on itself. Always something dumb. Today is my great-grandmother's 100th birthday. She died in August 2007 but she got close to the century mark. That, combined with today being literally the last time I'll ever have my favorite school lunch from the cafeteria at work, makes today somewhat of a funky "off" day.

Weight is up a bit still. 131.3 this morning, sigh.

claire0412 07-13-2011 06:02 AM

fitmom Yay for HIIT! It really got my 5k time down and made long runs more interesting.

philana Glad the scale finally moved!

Skinnyelle I did indeed have a cocktail for you (and one for myself), ahem. PS: after everyone mentioned them, I looked at your pics in 20 somethings. You look great, I'd be happy if I was at where you are now. Krampus you look great too, I liked your green/blue dress! You American girls know how to dress up, I am so lazy when it comes to making an effort. The most I will ever do is put a dress on with some flat sandals, and maybe a bit of eyeshadow. Laziness personified!

Dorian Mmmm wholefoods, I loved that shop when we were in NYC. We ended up going there for lunch most days because a) we didn't know where we were going to eat b) we always ended up finding fried food and we were worried we'd have a heart attack before we came back to Vienna! The salad bar was my fav!

Krampus Oh no! Rest your knee, ice and elevate it! Good luck moving and I hope your day gets better!

Mexican food was delicious last night. I opted for beef tacos, which were quite small (like 3 tiny taco tubes and salad). I also had two cocktails (Mojitos) and a shot of tequila, which I did not order myself. I still don't reckon I went over 2,000 calories yesterday so it's not too bad! I'm going to make 2 salads from my salad cookbook today though, one with tofu and roasted vegetables (for dinner) and one with avocado, sardines and blue cheese (for lunch). No wine or chocolate for me today either, just fruit, salad and lots of water!

I've been doing strength training for the last week or so and I am loving how much better my posture has become. I walk straight and everything, and my arms are looking a bit better. Doc was pleased with my foot too, but he says my other toes are a bit weird so I am going to self prescribe myself some foot exercises to strengthen the tendons etc. I addition, I have found some facial exercises to make me look younger (I am 25, I am ridiculous!). So my daily routine will include exercising my abs, bum, arms, face and feet. LOL.

kat999 07-13-2011 07:44 AM

I've been in absentia! My bad. More later, but just wanted to say I hope everyone's doing awesomely! I've been doing a lot of weight training the past week, and it made the scale budge! :D Will come back later to discuss and catch up. :)

skinnyelle39 07-13-2011 09:42 AM

Happy Hump Day ladies!!!

Im on day 6 of my detox. Yesterday I felt off for the first time since starting. I was doing JM Boost Metabolism and it was kind of hard to keep up. I think it was a combination of eating too many apricots beforehand that did not digest, being tired, and the fact that I haven't done exercise like that in over a week so I got a little winded.
My boyfriend and I went to see Horrible Bosses around 10pm and I could barely keep my eyes open. It was hard to not eat popcorn during the movie. I love movie theater popcorn and always treat myself to a small bag of it ( shared with my bf) whenever I go.

Dorian5 Ive never actually been inside WholeFoods ( too lazy to drive over to one nearest me which isnt that close at all) but I know itd be like heaven for me. Especially with this detox... Im a little nervous about the prices too. Is it much more than regular supermarkets? If not Im definitely making the switch!
Thanks again for the photo comments! The entire outfit came from a store called Love Culture, very similar to Forever 21. Really cute clothes and really reasonably priced. I need that fry recipe! Your veggie burger sounds delicious also was it a veggie patty or did you sub meat for a mushroom or something?

Claire 0412 Hope you enjoyed our drinks last night! I swear you ladies are going to have my head super huge. Thank you! Also please share these facial exercises. Glad your strength training is going well. It seems like that is the key for all of us.

krampus Happy Birthday to your Great-Grandma. Mine is 103 I believe and still living its amazing. Shes out-lived all three of her sons.

Philana I told you one day at time... It would eventually happen!

Kat999 Im happy to hear your weight is back down where you like it!

Dianne042425 07-13-2011 10:36 AM

Happy half-way-there Day! :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot:

Mortonpixie Busy? Whats that feel like again? Its been so long since Ive actually had work to do at my job its mind numbing. Talk about really appreciating a stimulated mind at work. Its no wonder I worry about the most stupid things :dizzy: Good job on the exercise!

Claire Good job on taking it easy with the Mexican but still allowing yourself to indulge. I think that kind of moderation is what keeps the weight off in the long run :) You said you noticed a difference in your arms after a week of training. Does it really show results that fast? I really need to get into lifting.

Skinnyelle You are too funny; "Frenemies". Thank you for the nice compliments. But that picture is from about 2 months ago at around 130. My goal is about 10-12 pounds less than that. The dress hides the horrid legs! hah jk I shouldnt talk about myself like that, but they are my problem area for sure. I only did the "detox" for a day so I cant really say anything for weightloss. Sorry :/

I totally understand about movie theatre popcorn. I have a comfort with the movie theatre so its SO hard for me NOT to get something there. I get in a bad mood when I cant lol

Philana PLEAAASSSSSEEEEEE tell me what you are eating that is so abundant and keeping your calories at 1000?!?! It's so hard for me to keep my calories under 1400! And I eat pretty darn healthy. My stomach is growling every 2 hours. Its ridiculous. And I am eating plenty of protein. About 100g a day!! Congrats on the 2.2 loss!!!:carrot:

Dorian Thanks for the recognition! I had a feeling it will be around the last 5 pounds when all the problem areas start to really melt off. I think thats why I always fall off wagon around 128. Maybe I am scared to actually see how I will look with smaller legs since Ive had them for so long now. It can almost be compared to a prisoner being released after so many years incarcerated. Some are scared of the freedom. Yes I know that is a drastic analogy but I kind of feel like I always get "scared" around 128. This time, no way, I am going all the way till goal!!

krampus Go easy on yourself today. With your knee, your grandmothers 100th birthday and your last day favorite lunch, you should just relax and enjoy a bit. Mental health is just as important as physical

Katt congrats on the scale budge!!! You amaze me with your weightloss and great attitude :)

Dorian5 07-13-2011 02:21 PM

I feel pretty hot today. ;)

Going out to dinner tonight, hoping I can manage to make smart choices! (I wish Whole Foods posted their nutrition information at their hot bar, damn it!) They have that brown rice sushi, might just get that... yum.

I can't wait until the weekend! I keep trying on my sexy jeans for my movie date to see if they fit a little better each day. (Haha, I'm crazy, you guys. :dizzy:)

---

philana - I try to eat 1200-1400, more if I'm hungry or work out hard, I've been getting in a lot of protein and fiber lately. I'm thinking of upping my calories because I'm pretty tired while running lately, we'll see. :) I am SO STOKED that you finally got to see your loss, nice work! Woohoo!

krampus - I'm sorry to hear that you're having a weird/funky day, and I hate to hear about your knee borking! Ouch, you are just having a hard time! :( I hope things can calm down for you once you get the stress of moving behind you. I know that you'll be at 120something again soon.

claire0412 - YUM your salads sound AWESOME! I am going to the Whole Foods deli/salad bar/hot bar for dinner tonight. I had a big salad for lunch, don't know what I should get for dinner, especially since they don't have their nutrition info for any of the bar stuff! Yikes. Nice work on your strength training, I need to get back to working on mine, I just am running now for the most part. :/

kat999 - Can't wait to hear about your weight training and losses! :D

skinnyelle39 - It's pretty pricey at Whole Foods, but I like to go get things that I can't get just anywhere. The grocery stores close to me don't carry a lot of the veggie burgers I like (I did use a veggie patty last night) and they carry PLAIN greek yogurt which is my favorite, the other stores close to me only have really fruity ones. That outfit was CUTE I'll have to find that love culture site because I LOVE Forever 21! I'm going to the movies on Saturday but I'm having a full out cheat day anyway, soooo some theater popcorn is in the works for me too.

All I did with the fries was cut summer squash (the little yellow ones-- I used 4) into eighths so they were skinny wedges (I didn't peel them since summer squash is tender anyway, but for butternut or something you would peel it) -- then I just salted and baked them on a pan (sprayed with Pam) at 425degrees F for 15 minutes on one side (until they were really dark brown around the edges) then I flipped each one over and baked 10 more minutes. YUM, awesome in ketchup! I ate the whole pan. :o

Dianne042425 - That's you in the avatar? You are itty bitty teeny! You look like you have skinny hips? Cute dress, too! You are definitely getting it done! I'm trying to beat down some diet apathy now since I'm feeling pretty good with my body - I know I'll be even happier at goal, so I'm keeping my eyes on the prize! We'll get to the end! :carrot:

philana 07-13-2011 02:26 PM

Thanks claire and skinnyelle - i'm so glad it moved. I needed that! haha.

Dorian - to me 1400 really makes me feel like I've had plenty. Except on workout days - but I work out in the evening mostly so i just have a tiny snack and go to sleep. And thanks! I'm so incredibly happy too. I just started and I know im gonna stick with this for months and months, but it's good to see that in months I could possibly be back to nice looking again. Hihi.

Dianne - I don't know what happened yesterday, because I ate high proteine foods, but I still never get over 60g of proteine a day. Yesterday I had crackers for breakfast, an omelet with salad (but without bread) for lunch, greek yoghurt with an apple and some sugar for snacktime, an eggcake for snacktime and couscous (half a portion) with witloof and apple and mayonaise and garlic for dinner and felt absolutely stuffed.

But, right now I had a big pasta (over 550cal!) and I'm hungry.... so I think it was the lack of carbs yesterday, I only ate 90g of carbs compared to my usual 190g. I'm definately gonna try it again tomorrow - way less carbs!
---

So, I don't know why but I'm so not wanting to go to the gym in 20 mins. My pasta was really not a good choice, I've not eaten a meal that was over 400 calories in a week - so eating 550 in one meal all at once has me feeling all icky. But I was having dinner with a friend and didn't want to act silly so just at a plate and a half. Oh well. Ill kick myself in the butt in a lil bit. It's also darned cold out here today. Rain and all. Doesnt help!

ann71 07-14-2011 01:26 AM

so I also went over to the 20-somethings photos. Skinnyelle, I agree that you look great in both before and after photos. Nice legs! And arms!

And Dorian, how cute are you! You have that "quirky chick" thing going that I wish I could pull off, but alas, I'm quirky in far more boring ways (and I hope that came out okay, I mean it very much as a compliment, of course!) Oh, and nice legs, too!

krampus, sorry about your knee and your not so great day. I hope you're on the mend.

I had a good eating day today. Not much exercise, but overall the last week I've been doing pretty well.

I weighed in down a little on Monday, after a couple of weeks of no movement, so that was nice, especially since I ate some extra calories during my week of painting.

claire0412 07-14-2011 05:42 AM

ann Good news that the scale is going down! Painting burns more calories than you think ;)

skinnyelle I hope you are feeling better now! I must be lucky in that I don't like popcorn (or anything salty, bleugh) but I always want M&Ms when we go and see films. Or pick n mix. Mmm. Well done for resisting!

Mortonpixie Sorry I completely cross posted with you last time. Good luck with your stuff, it is secretly nice to be busy though isn't it?! ;) I am in awe that you can balance children, exercise and your social duties too!

Dianne I have just noticed they feel better, whether they look better to anyone else I don't know!

Dorian I hope you had a nice dinner at Wholefoods! I am not used to there being any calorie information about where I go out to eat (with one exception), so I always just guesstimate. I think the US is the only country that does it, and maybe the UK now (they didn't when I last lived there but they are never far behind you!) It is useful, I wish more places would do it here! I hardly ever eat in chains though (anti-globalisation principles and all that, my new Starbucks boycott kills me every time I walk past) so it probably wouldn't help anyway. Would be nice though!

Philana Don't sweat 550cal dinners, that is OK!

I feel like crap today because I have stomach troubles (stress related, stupid uni). On the upside, I don't feel like eating much! I am preparing my move back to the UK too (like you Krampus!), not looking forward to it.

To cheer myself up, I have found a triathlon club where I'll be living so I will start that in September (maybe just cycling and swimming till the foot completely heals). I am so looking forward to it! My main ambition is to get hardcore and be able to beat boys. I wouldn't call myself an athlete yet (ha far from it) but it is work in progress (and one of my goals in life, hehe). I hope I can do my first triathlon next year. I was planning on it this August but the foot operation got in the way!

Have a good day!

Heleninedinburgh 07-14-2011 08:32 AM

hello, how's it going? I love this forum as it's so supportive and makes me feel i'm not alone, especially as people on other diet forums can be dismissive if you only have 15lbs to lose. Some people in real life can be dismissive too...like 'Oh, you're in the healthy bmi range aren't you?' (yeh, but the high end) or they say things like 'Oh relax, you're curvy, it's okay, it's sexy' (only it isn't sexy as I feel kind of bulgy and I know I look better when I'm slinkier)

My Mum and Sister, who are both slim, understand at least...which is good, although I don't see them that often.

Anyway am not happy with my weight...which is still about 130lbs, but...if I get own to 120 am buying myself a new dress...

you guys are great, sorry for going on about myself too much

aimeebell 07-14-2011 09:32 AM

AimeebellJust stop eating so much crap. Get out there and run. When you eat better, you feel better. QUIT SABOTAGING YOURSELF!

Do I look crazy when I talk to myself? LOL Been hiding from the scale, hiding from the board, hiding from myself since Friday. I don't know what has gotten into me, other than a whole lot of food!

Dianne042425 07-14-2011 09:34 AM

Happy Friday Eve everyone!

I am excited because the scale went down another .4 pounds in two days! I just want to get back to my old weight already!! lol Ive never stuck with a "diet" long enough to see when my plateau is. I'm very curious as to know when my weight loss will slow down significantly. When I was "dieting" before, I got to about 128 and was still losing rather fast. Which tells me my body was not happy at the higher weight. its ready to get rid of the fat. I just NEED to stick with it.

Dorian You are too funny! I do the same thing. I try on this outfit that is just a bit too tight. I probably need to lose about 5 or 7 pounds to fit in it comfortably (junior size 3), and I keep trying it on every day too. Hah so you are not alone nor are you weird! Im excited to watch you on your weight loss journey. I have a feeling you are going to go all the way ;)

Philana Man, I envy people like you. I wish I was satisfied easily. Im the type that cant just have one thing at a meal. I need a variety of things in each meal otherwise I feel deprived. I try to hit around 20-25g of protein in every meal. Maybe thats why I get so much in? I dont think 60g is too low..

Helen Welcome!! We are about the same weight and have the same goal! So lets do it together :)

Dorian5 07-14-2011 11:51 AM

124.6lbs still this morning after rice and soy sauce-laden dinner, so I'm hoping that my official weigh in day tomorrow is lower!

Harry Potter comes out tonight, woohoo! I don't know how I'm gonna wait until Saturday to see it though, ugh!

I've decided to take it easy on Saturday and instead of having a "free day" I'm just going to have a "free meal" so I don't go to overboard. Then avoid the scale for a few days. :dizzy:

I'm on a pretty good kick lately as far as my eating habits! My exercise is lacking, I need to get back on that horse.

---

philana - Yuck, sorry about the cold weather! Glad to hear you're still pushing yourself to work hard! Like claire0142 said, 550 isn't bad at all, I had salmon avocado sushi last night with brown rice and a big container of coconut water, I was around 550calories myself. It worked perfectly into my 1350 for the day, no sweat! You're doing beautifully, I understand the strive for diet perfection -- I just gotta remind myself that this is a forever lifestyle change, and I sure as **** plan on eating a healthy portion of sushi or pasta now and then for the rest of my life! ;) Keep on keeping on!

ann71 - You are so sweet, I am most definitely quirky, haha. Never really could fit in, so I figured I may as well look like I'm trying to stand out on purpose! Glad you saw a drop on the scale, that's always excellent motivation!

claire0412 - I did have a great dinner, I ended up getting sushi after all. :T Yeah I can find calorie counts for most everything; however, as far as being accurate, who knows. Phew, kudos to you, Starbucks suckers me in constantly. :/ I'm sorry to hear about your tummy troubles and stress, that's awful. I hope things calm down for you soon! Glad you found a triathlon club where you're going, that's exciting!

Heleninedinburgh - Welcome! I used to get that all the time -- "oh, you're curvy and women are supposed to have some fat anyway." Not THAT much! You'll have to show us a picture of your new dress when you get to 120! :D

aimeebell - Tough love, I like it! Just hop right back on plan, you'll be feeling great again in no time!

Dianne042425 - Let's BOTH go all the way! This weight is just slinging off of you left and right, your body must be ready to get it off! I'm like you, I have to have different sides with my food. Salad for lunch (with fruit and cottage cheese on the side) or a veggie burger (with a side of squash fries) -- it helps to have variety so I'm not bored. :)

GREAT WORK everyone!

philana 07-14-2011 01:18 PM

claire - lol! that sounds like a great goal, beating boys! too bad you aren't looking forward to the move, though totally understandable. It's raining cats and dogs here, I can't even imagine in what horror state the UK must be. So stormy!

Dianne - How do you get 20mg's of protein in a meal? Do you use supplements? And yeh, I'm satiated pretty easily I guess. Never looked at it that way. My main issue is having lots of food infront of me and then eating it. But if I have small portions and there just ain't anything to be done about it, then I'm fine.

Dorian - thanks for the compliments! I'm prettty psyched about it all still. I've never before had the energy and the drive to stick to it. And that's really mostly because of you guys! If you are all doing it or have done it, then so can I?! Harry Potter! I want to go, but have to wait atleast a week. And the movie theatre is going to be hard, because watching a movie without popcorn or chocolatechips just aint right.

---

So... The scale at the gym (which is like set up all proper) puts met 4lbs heavier than my scale at home. So, basically.. the difference between when I started and now. I think I'll change my current weigth to the scale at the gym because else I'm gonna feel like I'm cheating and I'll constantly know that it's not my actual weight. But - it's also gonna mean there's no difference in my mind to how much I weighed before I started and how much I weigh now. ARGH.

Oh well, minor setback. I'll get over it.

skinnyelle39 07-14-2011 02:04 PM

Today makes detox day 7...
I got to lunch time and decided I really wanted something else besides raw veggies, salad and/or some mixture of fruit. I had about 6 oz of baked fish, cooked veggies, and a dry (no dressing) mixed salad. Seemed to be just what the doctor ordered.

I planned to see how many weeks I could stick with raw fruits and veggies and turns out its one, lol. But honestly after the past week....eating only healthy, whole, non-processed foods and staying within my calorie budget going forward seems like it'll be a cake walk. The detox definitely reset my taste buds and cravings. Ive been dying for a nice piece of white fish and some cooked veggies and a few nuts. A far cry from the pizza, french fries, and cake I was craving ( and eating) prior to starting. Along with being down 4.5 lbs since last thursday... Id say overall it was a success.

While a lifestyle of 100% raw is NOT for me I think Ill continue incorporating the principles of detoxing like more fruit, veggies, smoothies, and water than anything and little to no processed foods, caffeine, tea, or added sugars into my diet. I also plan to turn to this detox whenever I'm feeling particularly heavy, sluggish, or in need of a mental re-boot due to cravings/ bad eating. Going through this taught me a lot about balance and what my body needs in terms of nutrition to function properly :)

Dianne042425 Congrats! Im so happy for you! I was convinced we were built the same but theres no way bc I could ever even DREAM of fitting into size 3 juniors jeans.... How much did you weigh when those fit you? Unless the next 15lbs is going to bring drastic changes I think the smallest Ill ever fit is a 5 with my build.

Dorian5 Thanks for the recipe! Do check out the site you will LOVE the clothes. You are a Harry Pothead like one of my really good friends, lol. We went to the new park at Islands of Adventure here in FL a few months ago. Ive never seen any of the movies but the park was awesome and the ride was amazing! Have you been?
Good luck with getting back on track with working out also.

ann71 Thanks so much! I hate my legs, hence why I said I chickened out of wearing that outfit that night... But thank you!

Heleninedinburgh Welcome! Dont worry about going on about yourself. We all have our moments!

aimeebell I was wondering what happened to you! Dont sweat falling off! Join an accountability thread, go on a detox ( lol), switch your workout.. anything! Do anything that will help snap you out of it. Ive been there so I know how it is. But you can do it! Stay with us!

fitmom 07-14-2011 07:15 PM

skinnyelle39: I'm happy to hear your detox is going okay. I'm really interested to try it or at least a colon cleanse. I went into GNC the other day and saw a bunch of cleanses but I was so confused. How do I start? P.S. You need to pursue modeling, for real.

claire0412: Sorry to hear about your foot. Hope you are feeling better. I wish I could find a running club or something along those lines by me. I love to run but I run solo so it can be a bit boring. I would actually have the time with my two kids in full-time school in September, lol. Good for you.

philana: That stinks when the scales go all wonky on you. I know the feeling. I wouldn't let it distract you from your goal of weight loss. It happens to everyone once in awhile. :)

I'm sooo frustrated b/c my waist is still the same size - it's a thorn in my side being ruler-shaped. It hasn't budged in two weeks. Ugh! I redid my measurements tonight and nothing's changed. The scale hasn't moved either in over a week. I'm really keeping my fingers crossed to see if the HIIT cardio I began implementing will rev up my metabolism once again. Oh well. That's life, lol.

krampus 07-14-2011 08:53 PM

Unmotivated and discouraged and getting fat. Reading this thread makes me feel so guilty for switching my brain off.

philana 07-15-2011 02:10 AM

fitmom - that's so annoying! but, I've read several of your posts where you mention your body-type and lack of waist and I'm just wondering: is it a realistic goal for you to have an hourglass kind of waist? :O Because I doubt it's fat on your waist so it's the muscle tissue and all?

krampus - it's okay to have off days! I can't wait for my first few offdays. Though probably the scale will spike, but that will be fixed again once you feel more up to it! However - I hope this thread just motivates you to be positive also :D

--
So, even though the scale wacked me and I thought I was at 152 a bunch of days ago already - I am happy! Because it's been exactly a week ago since I started and in total I've lost 6,6lbs!!! ofcourse, the first week is destined to go faster so im tempering my hopes for the following weeks.

Dianne042425 07-15-2011 09:28 AM

Happy Friday!!!!!! Beach night with the boyfriend! SO excited :D

I am just curious, is it possible to still be losing water weight two weeks later?? I dropped another.8 pounds in one day. I wasnt dehydrated (I drink about 80 ounces of water a day), and ate around 1500 calories yesterday. I am not sure why the weight is falling off so fast. The only thing I can think of is water weight but I cant imagine there still being water weight two weeks later..Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

Dorian We must have the same taste buds/eating habits. What you just named sounds exactly what I would eat. Salad, fruit and cottage cheese - Yum!! You are getting so close to the lower 120's! I am so excited for you. You are in the home stretch!!

Philana Congrats on losing 6.6!!!

No, I don't use supplements. Ill give you an example of my eating for a day and Ill point out the protein. Maybe it will give you ideas..

Breakfast: 2 egg whites (8g), 1 whole egg (6g), .5 ounces of almonds (3g), 1/2 cup of cottage cheese (11g), 1 small banana
Total protein count: 28g

Lunch: Large sweet potato (4g) and 1 ounce of almonds (6g)
Total protein count: 10g

Snack: 100 calorie popcorn 3g, 1/2 cup of cottage cheese (11g)
Total protein count: 14g

Dinner: 6 ounces of chicken (30g), slice of ezekial whole grain bread with 1 wedge of laughing cow cheese 6.5g, .5 ounces of nuts (3g)
Total protein count: 39.5g

Total Protein for the day: 91.5g
So I get my main sources of protein from nuts, chicken, eggs and cottage cheese :D

Skinnyelle lol I honestly don't know what my body is supposed to look like. When I was younger, I was a 00 in Juniors. Then puberty hit hard and I went to a 1 for a hot minute, then straight up to a 5. I honestly believe once I get to goal, Ill be a comfortable 3. My hips get a lot smaller when I diet, but they are also the first to gain! When I was a size 00 I was 5'1 and weighed 100 pounds. When I was a 3 I was 5'5 and 118. I think thats why I have in my head that 118 is a good weight for me..Well and what the mirror is telling me  And yes I know its strange I know my exact heights and weights for certain ages (I called my doctor before this weightloss journey a year ago and asked haha)

Fitmom I wouldnt lose courage. Ive heard HIIT cardio is the BEST for toning, losing fat when you are already at a lower weight. It will happen. Dont worry! What is your waist measurement if you dont mind me asking?

Krampus Dont! Dont! Dont! Do not get down. You know how to do this. You know what to do. You also know that you can enjoy foods and still lose. Dont lose motivation!! You can do it girl!

skinnyelle39 07-15-2011 09:29 AM

fitmom I dont know about the modeling lol! But thanks for thinking I have a shot :). As far as the detox goes Ive never done any type of store-bought colon cleanse. I chose this one because it incorporates really clean, simple eating as a natural way to cleanse the body. The store-bought ones Ive seen usually allow you to eat the same way and take a pill. It made more sense to me the natural way.

If you are interested in doing this there is so much info on the web. Google the 30 day detox and read up. But basically for 7-30 days ( depending on how you are feeling, personal goals. etc) you consume only raw fruit and veggies. Organic is preferred bc of the toxins in pesticides used on regular fruits and veggies. Some cleanses include nuts sparingly. But I think its a personal choice.

Krampus Im really sorry to hear that you are struggling especially because you were doing so well. But I know you can and will bounce back.

Philana Congrats on 6.6lbs thats an awesome first week! You are off to a great start!

We did! Im happy the weight is falling off for you and have fun with bf. Beach night are always nice...

claire0412 07-15-2011 10:00 AM

Helen I get what you mean! I've told my bf I'm trying to lose a bit of weight, and I use this board. Apart from that, nobody knows. Most of my friends are thinner than me though, and unless they hide it from me too, without dieting.

DianneWow the weight is falling off you! Jealous! :D

Krampus Don't worry, I'd take a diet break if I were you and maintain where you are now, enjoy your last weeks in Japan and start back up again properly when everything is less stressful. Good luck!

Dorian Do you have your free meal planned out? I have no idea what Red Lobster is, but I would go there if they served lobster, mmm. Glad your jeans fit, you'll look great! I love it when old jeans fit!

fitmom Yeah normally I hate running with other people, but I'm moving to a new area where I literally know no-one so I thought it'd be a good way to make friends! Go for it when you can, use the free time you'll magically have come September :D

Philana Yay! Great first week, well done :)

skinnyelle A detox every now and again sounds like a good idea! Are you slowly adding 'normal' food back, or did you go for it all at the same time? I did that once and got so ill!

Uni problems are looking up, so my stomach has got a bit better! I've had a great couple of days of eating clean, healthy food 3 x a day (additional snack at about 4pm if I'm starving). I did have a bit of Cadbury's yesterday evening. A British friend gave me a 200g bar, you can't get it here. I've made my boyfriend take it to work and if there is any left he can bring me a bit back in the evenings, hehe. It is way too dangerous to have that hanging around.

I don't feel like I'm on a diet anymore, in fact I'm eating the way I always have thought I should be. I'm trying to resist the urge to go on a crash diet to drop a few inches before having to bear my body in a bikini in 2.5 weeks (we're going backpacking around Turkey and Greek islands for 3 weeks). I keep telling myself it is counterproductive because I don't want to mess up the healthy diet I've got going on at the moment, but it is HARD!!

I also got the measuring tape out last night and pulled it as tight as it would go around my waist and hips. Apart from nearly cutting off circulation (!!), I discovered the lowest I could get in those areas (with literally hardly any fat) would be 26' waist and 36' hips. So I've decided that is my ultimate goal 36-26-26. At the moment I'm 36-27.5-38.5 so I've got a way to go.

Enjoy your weekend everyone :)

haha that is a good idea. I might try that with the tape measure! :dizzy::D

Thats great you are feeling so good about your way of eating!

Skinnyelle Thanks, Im looking forward to relaxing :) And maybe a glass of wine..or two.. ;)

Dorian5 07-15-2011 10:44 AM

I'm 123.8lbs this morning - how exciting! I think the thing that has helped me the most this week is that I've made a CONSCIOUS effort to track my fiber and get more of it into my diet! I've never really paid attention to it before, but it all started when I came home from the store with some Fiber One cereal... I like putting half a cup of it on my Greek yogurt and fruit for breakfast. :T

The boyfriend and I are going to a local greek/lebanese restaurant for lunch today and they use fresh, whole ingredients. It isn't low calorie, but definitely delicious and healthy! I think I'm going to get a sampler platter with tabouli, felafel, baba ghanouj with whole wheat pita, and stuffed grape leaves. OMG, it's only 10am but I'm already drooling about lunch, haha.

---

philana - I'm sorry about the scale! Ugh, that would make me crazy! I'm so glad to hear you stay positive about it! Congrats on your loss this past week, so proud of you! Great work!

skinnyelle39 - I'm totally obsessed with Harry Potter, haha. I was at Islands of Adventure 2 years ago when they were building it, haven't been yet! The boyfriend and I are planning on going for the Halloween Horror Nights thing they do in October (I LOVE anything horror) so we would be able to go to that park during the day. Fun! WOW that detox totally reset you, it sounds like it was just what you needed! Totally impressed!

fitmom - I'm going to have to second what philana said, it's not going to really be possible to nip in your waist if there's not much fat there, is it? That comes down to changing your body type, which doesn't seem realistic. BUT that doesn't mean you can't always be working on your health, your body, and your fitness! Just that you shouldn't be disappointed with yourself if you don't lose inches in your waist, you're doing such great work!

krampus - Just focus on your mental health right now, this transition/moving has got to be difficult on you! The last thing this board should cause you is GUILT! Just motivation. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Dianne042425 - I am obsessed with cottage cheese, I love it. And fruit. I love yogurt too! I really like dairy, but oddly enough only drink almond milk (not regular milk.) Anyway, sometimes when I put on weight quickly it comes off quickly? Or something it just depends on if you went to the bathroom before weighing in previously... so many factors! Just go with it! You're doing great!

claire0412 - I don't have it planned, I figure I'll see what I want when I get there! Red Lobster is like a seafood chain, they have lots of stuff. Particularly these buttery cheddar garlic biscuits that are 150calories a pop! They probably have crack in them too, because they are addictive. :o At 36-26-36 you will be a knockout, those are some sexy stats! Stick with your healthy LIFESTYLE instead of a crash diet, you'll look sexy in a bikini regardless!

Have a wonderful day, beautiful ladies! ;)

Dianne042425 07-15-2011 10:53 AM

Dorian OMGashhh! I am a FRUIT QUEEN!! I could seriously eat 239048290384 calories worth of fruit in one day hah :dizzy: I like dairy also, but I never really drank milk. Actually, when I went to a nutritionist last year (this was before I started eating healthy - ate HORRIBLE up until then). He said I was COMPLETLEY deficient in calcium! So I try to get that in my diet as often as I can!

That is SO great you are down again today. You are only like 8 pounds away from goal?? SO awesome!! How many grams of fiber are you trying to eat in a day? Do you count carbs or is your diet healthy carb heavy?

Dorian5 07-15-2011 11:32 AM

Dianne042425 - I don't count anything except calories, but looking back I averaged about 25g of fiber each day this week. I don't count carbs, but I definitely make sure not to eat a lot of bread/pasta/anything like that. Lots of good carbs in my diet though.

When I first started this adventure, I lost weight eating whatever the heck I wanted to as long as it was in my calories, and I lost weight.

Now, however, I eat mostly clean, whole foods within my calories and I have more energy to work out more and do what I need to do, and I look healthier and function better and lose weight more efficiently. :)

I'm sure I'll feel better when I can manage to get fake sweeteners/aspartame out of my diet as well. Work in progress. :dizzy:

fitmom 07-15-2011 04:51 PM

UPDATE: I actually lost a half-inch in my waist. I measured myself this morning and I was so surprised b/c I've lost from my bust and hips but my waist wouldn't budge for anything, lol (the perks of being a ruler!). Anyway, I had my trainer friend redo my body fat with a skin-fold caliper this afternoon and it went down. I was at 18.2%, now it's 17.5%. I'm so excited b/c I'm almost at goal. It's not much but still it's progress, right? I think stepping up my running miles combined with some HIIT and the frequency of the cardio may have done the trick. Although I have doubts whether I'll be able to whittle my waist even more b/c that's just not my body type as several of you have pointed out. The focus is and has been a healthy lifestyle.

Sounds like everyone is doing okay. I can't individually comment b/c I have to make my two kids dinner. Sorry. I'm happy we're all here for each other in our journey. :)

Dorian5 07-15-2011 07:50 PM

Sooo, that tiny bikini I ordered came today, and it fits perfectly, I was so excited that I had to jump on and squeal about it. I look skinny in it in person but when I tried to take a picture to post, but I looked fat in every single shot, haha. Anyone else like that?

fitmom: NICE work! I'm so excited for you! Keep it up! :carrot:

fitmom 07-15-2011 09:04 PM

@Dorian5: It's funny about the tiny bikini b/c I have one I bought for my vacation next week and I thought it looked good. When I took a photo, I looked okay but nothing to squeal about. Maybe the lighting or the angle made a difference. Who knows?!? I also think maybe I should have tried it on an empty stomach not after eating so my stomach was not distended. Oh well. I'm still a work-in-progress - evidently. Good for you though. That's a huge accomplishment in and of itself. :)

philana 07-16-2011 05:48 AM

Thanks -all- for the congrats on the weightloss. I'm just so annoyed, today I found out the scale at the gym is actually not working proper! ARGH. So, I checked my own scale by weighing my macbook (I know it's suppose to be 2kg) and it works just perfect. So - I'm sticking to trusting my own scale again. Which means I'm at 68kg/149.9lbs now still/again! Yay.

Dianne - I see the cottage cheese is to 'blame' for a lot of your proteine. That's GREAT. Because people here call me the cottage cheese addict. I introduced it to several people that are now a big lover of it. LOL. So, I'll put it into my diet again a bit more. I was trying out a lot of 'new' stuff this week and totally forgot about the cottage cheese.

claire - awesome trip! i love turkey! If you go to Istanbul you should definately stay in hostels in Sultanahmed. Nice backpackers area! Turkey is also great for good foods!

Dorian - I LOVE baba ganough and dolmadakia's. I sometimes make those myself. Speaking of which, I still have grapeleaves in the fridge. And rice. And greek yoghurt. I know what's for dinner here tonight! haha. I travel in the middle east a lot, and one reason I love it so much is the food.

fitmom - congrats on the waist! that is awesome :D just don't forget to be happy about where you are already at!

So I'm a tiny bit uhg because I was going crazy with The 100 Workout last night while it was suppose to be my rest-day. Oh well! I did just finally figure out what's in my fav noodle soup calorie-wise. I was looking at it the entire week thinkin "gosh I want one, but it's probably loaded with carbs and salt" which is true. But it's still a decent lunch for once in a while. (livestrong has a great trustworthy database! http://www.livestrong.com/thedailypl...ie-clear-soup/ )

claire0412 07-16-2011 08:36 AM

Dorian I know the feeling. I took a picture of me in my (non matching) underwear so I could see my progress. Oh my god, no one is seeing it. I thought I looked alright until I took that photo.

Fitmom Yay! I bet your waist is tiny now!!

Philana Ooh we just booked our hotel in Istanbul (we're there for 4 days at the end of our holiday). I booked a 5* luxury hotel with a pool and spa as a nice way to end our holiday. It is our (first proper and) last holiday together until we have to go long distance, so we splashed out a bit. Vienna has a massive Turkish population, and I love buying Turkish food from the delis here, yum yum. I am looking forward to it!

My bf has just made me a new weights workout plan, which I've named Felix's workout plan because he's been walking around all week singing Kayne West's The New Workout Plan at me to take the piss out of my new found enthusiasm for working out at home. Ridiculousness aside, the plan is good and he has got all my upper body and core muscles covered. Tired!

For the rest of the day, I will call my mum, watch online coverage of Rupert Murdock's empire crumbling (with glee, mwhahaha) and then we're going out for a walk in the centre of Vienna and dinner. Have a good weekend everyone :D

Heleninedinburgh 07-16-2011 10:34 AM

Claire: Cadbury's chocolate is so difficult to resist, but you did well only to have a little bit and to send the rest to work with your boyfriend. It's also that you don't feel like you're dieting, just being healthy. I'll always remember an old flat mates boyfriend saying 'dieting isn't about eating less, it's about eating better.

Philana: well done on the weightloss, I think it's best to always use the same scale so you get an idea of what you're losing, so long as it's a reliable one.

Fitmom: You're so close to goal, congratulations!

Dorian
: The restaurant you ate at sounds gorgeous. What did you have? I love good quality nourishing food, even if it does have a lot of calories, as it's good for both body and soul. Also, it's awesome about the bikini! I'll definitely show you a picture of my new dress when I get down, I've already chosen the one I want! Would be cool to see your bikini but don't worry if you can't upload it.

Skinnyvelle: the raw food diet sounds like a sucess, even though you didn't last more than a week. I think a week is pretty good going actually and would be proud of that.

__________________________________________________ ___________

I haven't been weighing myself for a bit, as the scaled tend to depress me at the moment, but I am definitely feeling a little bit slimmer, which is good. I work at a cafe and I get a free meal when I finish my shift, but have been choosing healthy options (soup and oven roated vegetable wrap....delicious)

Last night though something weird happened. I was really craving milk, like desperate for it....no idea why...I'd been craving it all day and ignoring it but it just got really bad, so in the end I drank a pint (I know a whole pint of whole milk) and suddenly felt a lot better. If you crave something is that your bodies way of telling you you need it? I've been cutting back on fats and dairy lately...so maybe I needed the fat? I don't know...

I'm going to have a short run later today...haven't run for a long time as I broke my arm last year and just stopped exercising while that healed and then didn't start again....

Heleninedinburgh 07-16-2011 10:36 AM

oh, and here's the dress I want...see why I have have to be slim ...

philana 07-17-2011 07:43 AM

I'm struggling a bit today. The stores open in 3 hours, and I have it in my mind that I want either chips or cookies. I've had this thought since yesterday. I'm feeling a bit lethargic after so many days in the gym and a storm here where I am basically locked at home having the MOST boring weekend in ages.
My positive mindset is just not here today :P. I want this danged weekend to be over. There's tons to do around the house but my muscles hurt so I don't want to move.

Sorry for the big whine.

Update: I followed Claire's advise and am baking cookies myself. Not so much healthier than at the store, but this is a somewhat 'small' portion so there is no risk of me eating up a WHOLE pack of cookies or buying an extra bag of chips when walking in the supermarket. Now I can just stay at home and enjoy my treat!

claire0412 07-17-2011 08:04 AM

Helen If you really crave something other than junk food, it normally is because you are deficient in something! Normally I crave chocolate (not just sweet things, CHOCOLATE!) and beef during my period, which I take to mean I need magnesium and iron. Some good quality chocolate and beef is always part of my period diet ;)

If you think you might be deficient in calcium, I would drink low fat milk / yoghurt. I'm not normally an advocate of low fat anything, but low fat dairy tends to have more calcium and protein in.

Philana Sounds like you might be overtraining. If you want something sweet, why don't you bake something? This will a) give you something to do b) let you decide what goes into your body (how much sugar etc). If you bake muffins/cake then you can cut it into individual portions and freeze anything you don't want to eat! Lay off the gym for a bit and take it slowly :)

My boyfriend is away for the week now, and all my friends are on summer holidays, so my week is gonna be BORING! On top of this, I'm a teacher and it is the summer holidays, so I don't even have to work. Luckily (ha) I have my MA exam to revise for, otherwise all I'd do is eat and shop! I'm making the most of not being tempted by the bf's sweet tooth and will try to be really good until he comes back (Friday).

Have a nice Sunday :)

sumire 07-17-2011 11:06 AM

Happy weekend, feathers! Weight up again slightly the past couple of days (argh), after dipping back down. But I'm still quite sore from my last 2 workouts (2 days ago, pushups & pullups; 3 days ago, single leg squat extravaganza), so I'm sure I'm retaining water.

I'm becoming fed up with my stall (10 weeks with a half-pound loss, and that was 6 weeks ago, and I haven't seen that weight since! :p--and no, no measurement changes recently) and am going to start trying to blow through it. I'm cycling my calories now (but keeping at the same ~1500 range, which I don't want to drop if I don't have to, to fuel my workouts). Going to add some short HIIT sessions 2-3x/week. And--I feel silly--but I bought myself a mini stepper yesterday, to add some moderate steady-state cardio in the evenings at home. Previously I was just flailing around doing my own cardio moves, but I began to worry about bothering my downstairs neighbors at nighttime.
--------
philana: Belated congrats on the big loss! I like weighing at home--then I can weigh myself in the morning, before eating, no clothes, and I like the number much better then. ;)

Dianne: Woohoo! Congrats! Don't question the loss... just be grateful. :D

skinnyelle: I agree with fitmom about the modeling-- get yourself an agent, stat!

claire: Love the tape measure thing! I did it myself yesterday and convinced myself that a 24" waist is quite possible, and it was good for me to see that my butt measurement really can't get appreciably smaller than 37". I tend to compare myself to other gals here and wonder why my hip/butt measurement (currently 38.5") is so big, but I guess it really is bone structure there. Anyway, that was fascinating, thanks! Good luck with the revisions & all, & keep your eye on that vacation! :)

Dorian: Yay for you & the teeny weeny bikini! I'm glad it's not just me with the photo thing-- I take sports bra/undies pics of myself every month to track my progress, and every month I'm a little dismayed when I see the pics. :p I just tell myself that the camera adds 10 pounds, haha.

fitmom: Well done! I'm hoping for around 18-19% bf at the end of my weight loss, so it's always inspirational to see other chicks who are there.

HelenInEdinburgh: I gave up 9 years of veganism in part because I was getting the most insane dairy cravings in the universe (like, "I am convinced I will literally die if I do not eat this giant block of cheese"). I do think that when our bodies have a serious craving, they're trying to tell us something! (I think in my case it was probably "give me calcium and vitamin D RIGHT NOW," since I was always bad about this with my crappy vegan diet.)
