Unhappy What am I DOING?! I need support.

I need support.

I've been doing so well for about 2 months. But this past w/e... OMG!

My scale read 126.6 last Wednesday, now I'm over or around 130!!!! I thought those 130s were in my past.

I was about 1/4 as active, or even less active than that, as I usually am, I did not work out, I binged, I had fries and stuffed pasta, I binged some more (from like Friday night through Sunday night), I even got to the point of getting physically sick, I drank waaaaay too much alcohol...

And now do I want to exercise today? No. I want to sit around. And, I'm hungry

How do you get back on track when you fall off the wagon?

One bad weekend is not a big deal in the long run... You just have to jump back into healthy eating. For me, it's always really hard to get back on track after a bad couple of days... I just have to wake up in the morning and FORCE myself to drink water, eat a healthy breakfast and workout, even though my body is screaming no. After that, it's much easier to settle back into healthy eating. I'm sure that most of the weight gain is water retention and if you stick to healthy eating and lots of water for the next couple of days it should fall right off.

skinny fast Sounds like we had the EXACT same weekend minus the alcohol for me. Dieting kind of killed my taste for it since I cut it out early on the process. I think you get burned out from all the diet an exercise and the body just wants to chill out and indulge for a couple of days.

Like ohtheplaces said, one weekend, even two is not a big deal in the long run... Trust me Ive tested this out... But you do literally have to just JUMP back into the swing of things and push yourself. Dont count on your mind/body to want to do this because it absolutely wont. You will feel great and back on track after a great workout and healthier choices. And the weight will come off quickly. Just gotta regain focus.

Thank you. You're both so right. I'm just having a problem w/willpower at the moment. And I do think I burnt myself out. I exercise so much and was eating so little.... and the scale wasn't dropping fast enough. I got off track b/c I was lacking the motivation, now it's hard to get back on. ESPECIALLY while taking care of 2 kiddos!! They make it easy to make excuses. Like our pediatrician appt this morning... I convinced myself there was no time to workout.

I had the EXACT same situation last saturday night and I was so horribly disappointed in myself that all I wanted to do was dig into that 2 litre tub of ice cream I keep stashed away in the freezer and cry. But thankfully I resisted! Instead I hopped on my exercise bike and really pushed myself until my face vaguely resembled a boiled tomato and after that I found it so much easier to hop back on the dieting bandwagon. It was very, what;s the word, therapeutic? That's sounds about right. And if you're still feeling hungry then don't worry cause SO AM I. I am just about dying for a grilled cheese but I promise I won't snack if you won't, okay? Come on hang in there! We can do this!

Chooks, you're awesome! Way to motivate!!! I screwed up royally today, hit the chips, but I can get it back tomorrow!! Unfortunately I don't have exercise equipment at home, my DVD player isn't working and it's been nasty humid outside where I usually workout. But I gotta think of something!!!

Go onto youtube and type in Strive High Impact Aerobics and click on the 9 minute video that comes up first. If you have a laptop that you could sit in front of you (or you could even just do this in front of your computer if you have the room) then you can do this video in your living room and you'll burn about 100 calories everytime you do it! Also if you're doing housework then turn on that radio and while you're doing the laundry or washing the dishes dance like nobodies watching! (although in my case I really do have to make sure that nobodies watching as I look absolutely ridiculous when I decide to break out 'the running man')

Go for a walk! Just moving around will make you feel so much better, and will probably curb a bit of the desire to just eat and sit around all day. No hardcore exercise, just doing something to help you move out of the rut we've all been in

You are FANTASTIC! These are great tips.

You totally motivated me and I hit my Mom's home gym this morning. (Finally had time). I did 58 min on the elliptical. And I was so motivated and my boys were playing nicely enough, I did 30 min on the treadmill on an 8 incline. Go ME! Then I did a few sets w/weights for my arms.

LOVE the youtube suggestion. I don't know why I didn't think of it, lol. Brilliant!

And I have upped my cleaning routine. How funny. My kids will love the radio/dance idea!

Thanks again stranger!

On a bad note, the scale read 133.2 this morning. How does that happen? 126.6 to 133.2 in 6 days??? And man did I feel the jiggle when I worked out. It's going to take me some time to get back to where I was. I'm being really hard on myself. I'm thinking of fasting or just doing meal replacment shakes. I'm in a time crunch here!

Well I've looked it up and some reasons why the scales might have changed so much include:

Water retention- Seeing as you had a bit of an unhealthy binge chances are that a lot of what you ate have high sodium levels which cause the body to hold onto as much water as possible and can make you gain up to 2 pounds! Or you may not be getting enough protein in your diet. And not enough protein in the blood means that you can't draw out enough excess water from your tissues. So that's ONE possible reason!

You've been building muscle- While you exercise you're actually whittling away your muscles and making them smaller. It's during the resting period after (an hour, a day, a week) where they actually increase in size. Or so I've heard... I may just be making this up so if anyone sees this and realises it's complete bull then do tell me :P Anyways, muscle weighs more than fat so that could be why the scales read it as such a big change.

And that's all I've got... I don't think it's such a good idea to do fasting or meal replacement shakes as you body might think its dying and go into starvation mode were it will hold onto every last bit of fat it can and could even start to break down your muscles leaving you toneless :'( I'm in a time crunch as well (two weeks til the bikini comes out! Yikes!) and the thing which I've found to make the most difference is PILATES. Omg it's a god send! I do the Pop Pilates Summer body workout part 1 and 2 (you can find it on youtube) everyday and within about 5 days I could see a really obvious change. I've only started it back up about a week and a half ago but when I did it last year in a desperate bid to lose weight for summer I actually went down a dress size in 17 days!

That's amazing! I'm going to give that one a try too... now that you've reminded me about youtube my options are endless I haven't done pilates in years.

I think the weight gain is a combo of what you said. I wasn't eating a whole lot before my... relapse, and so I think my body is holding onto what I ate in the last 3 days (which was a lot!!!). And that food did have a ton of sodium in it. So I bet a lot is water. I think the scale will be a few pounds less tomorrow. But not 6.5 less Cry.

Thanks again for your help!
