Is it normal to feel this hungry?

  • For protein, I eat scrambled egg whites either plain or with veggies or 2 ounces lean turkey. You would be surprised what a 4 egg white omelette with all that in it looks like and the calories are minimal. Use Pam spray, though. No butter or oil. Also, I like almonds as snacks. Portion them out to about 14 nuts at a time and no more than two servings of that size a day. But they are surprisingly filling. You also need to drink a lot of water with them so it helps with fulness and to reach your daily water needs as well. At night, if I am really hungry, I have a small bowl (1/2 cup) of original fiber one cereal (60 cals) and 1/2 cup almond milk (45 cals) and a packet of splenda. Original fiber one unsweetened can be hard to choke down! And your body does get used to consuming less calories. I have days where I am hungrier than others, but for the most part, it balances out. And it does get easier!
  • Thank you! You seem to like the same things as me. I prefer almond milk to regular milk, and I also eat original fiber one cereals. Lol. That's what I had for breakfast.

Today I took everyone's advice and bought fresh fruits and veggies and chicken. I only ate 1300 calories today but I don't feel anywhere near as hungry as I did last night. I'm so glad that I found this forum.
  • I am glad you're feeling better. When I started "dieting" in January, I paid for a diet delivery service in my area. My dad saw my whole day's worth of food and said, "oh, that looks like a nice, healthy lunch!" When I told him it was for the entire day, he almost fell on the floor, lol!

I wanted to tell you that Greek yogurt is amazing in terms of filling you up. I sometimes make a smoothie of 1 tsp naturally more brand peanut butter, ounces nonfat plain greek yogurt, 1/2 cup oatmeal, 1/4 cup almond milk, and splenda. I use that as a meal replacement and maybe have a piece of fruit with it. It is so filling. But Greek yogurt on its own, or with some strawberries mixed in is very filling. And the plain, nonfat Chobani is 100 cals for 6 ounces.
  • I eat a prot. bar for breakfast (at 4:15 am - I teach the early morning boot camp!) with a glass of 1% milk. After my workout I drink Myoplex lite prot. drink. Around 10 am I'll eat either oatmeal or eggs-something or other with juice and fruit. I'll have a ham sandwhich for lunch if I'm not teaching PM boot camp, otherwise I skip lunch (I get uncomfy with too much food during exercise) and eat an early dinner (chx, steak, cheese, or turkey burger usually) and almost never eat after that. I never counted how many calories this is, but I know that I make sure there is a protein in every meal coz I lift 3-5 x a wk.
