Just wanted to say hello and basically remind myself that I need this place something awful. For those who remember me, I'm finally weaning off the prednisone and the hunger is starting to fade. My new treatments are working, hives and gone and life is looking more normal everyday. The trade off is almost 20 pounds. :( Ashamed doesn't even come close.... I'm just going to have to lose it twice and get over it. What's done is done (and thankfully, can be undone!) Tomorrow is day 1 back on the wagon and I feel ready to recommit. My husband is going to do it with me. He's actually on day 5 or so already so I think he'll be a help rather than the usual hinderance. So, as much as it pains me, I'll change my ticker and be checking in daily.

Changed best of luck with the re-start! It looks like you have lost a LOT of weight so far, so many congratulations on that. Prednisone is a doozy so I'm sorry that it's thrown a wrench in your weight loss plan. You've lost it before though so you obviously have the determination it will take to get back to your old self. We'll all be rooting for you :) maenad Thanks for sharing the burger recipe! It looks fabulous. krampus I'm glad your fat days are MIA right now. Mine have returned over the past two days, with my thighs and butt being a trigger. The latter has definitely decreased with my small loss over the past month but I've still got decent cellulite that keeps me bummed out. Not sure if that will ever go away :-/ Re. the work schedule- I have been working from home for the first time in my life for the past 6 months. I return to office work a week from today. I'm really excited about that for a lot of reasons; they are mainly professional but I'm also looking forward to getting back on a more normal eating schedule. Right now I wander into my kitchen and graze whenever I'm bored. Not good! Happy Monday to everyone- hope it's a great week. |
Welcome back indiblue! Glad you had a good mini-trip. Sorry to hear about the fat days. They seem to come randomly.
I went running today to combat the "OH GOD MY THIGHS ARE MASSIVE" feeling, and wouldn't you know it, as soon as the runners high kicked in after about 35 minutes, I tripped over myself and fell, banging up both knees and scraping the heck out of both palms of my hands. I got MAD and kept running all the way home. I'm guessing I went about 3-3.5 miles, it felt quite difficult since it had been over a week and a half and I'm getting over my cold. Eating was great today - just about 1300 calories once I factored in nibbles of tomorrow's lunch. I'm going to eat Korean BBQ after work tomorrow with a friend, hoping to keep dinner low-carb with one serving of beef and grilled veggies. |
maenad: Thanks for the recipe! I look forward to trying it. I'm glad you mentioned how you make it for your husband -- my husband is actually pretty cool with being on board when I make vegetarian stuff once in a while, so I'm sure he would be down for these. And we buy curry, cumin, and paprika in bushels over here (not really but we love those spices particularly!), so any recipe that uses said spices already sounds very promising!
krampus: Sorry you skinned up your knees, BUT I'm really happy for you that you had such an awesome weekend and a great Monday. You'll be back to your previous low weight in no time flat! |
Krampus! I feel your pain. I broke my pinky toe and now cant run for a little while :(
|
Thanks for the warm welcome! <3
I'm not sure if featherweights is the place for my right now but I'm sticking around regardless because I've really missed talking to you guys. TOday is off to a good start. I had black coffee, half a grapefruit and 1/2 c oatmeal plain. Dianne- I was thinking about you the other day. I have been looking into a sonography program at Texas State University. I think I decided to try to get into the respiratory therapy program. Hope it's not too hard. When do you find out? |
Ahh so many injuries for us feathers!! But it's good that we're all staying active and on-plan anyway. I think I'm finally going for a run tomorrow morning -- definitely looking forward to it. The ankle is at 10% swelling, 90% bruising (haha), so well on the way to recovery.
I think I get what everyone mean by "fat feeling" -- it's more how you feel when your muscles are going flabby, right? I'm definitely getting that right now; relieved that my plateau has broken, but I'd rather regain a pound and feel the energy / tone that comes with exercise. |
Changed You are definitely still a featherweight! Glad to hear your day started off well
fivestone I hope so! You're probably my #1 inspiration at the moment, I watched "Amadeus" last night and wondered how you're doing haha lackadaisy That's EXACTLY the feeling. I'm happy to report mine is gone for the time being after a few long walks and a run. I am glad your ankle is healing. Dianne Oh no! Get well ASAP. That can't be fun. |
I think finally after nearly a month the injury to my right leg has healed. I did something to the muscle and it had been causing me almost constant pain but complete rest for a week seems to have healed it. I am hoping to get back on the treadmill on Tuesday so we will see. I have to stay late at work tomorrow to finish up a few things it will make it a late night for me but it will be good in the long run.
I also did a lot of cooking this weekend and I have been experimenting with whole foods which is wonderfully delicious and healthful. I think if I can just focus on eating healthy food which promote health and healing my weight loss will become a lot more natural. |
Krampus - Sorry about your fall :( (im sorry im the brat that laughs at everyone when they trip or run into things so the image i get is rather funny) but at least it gave you motivation to keep going for 3.5 miles!!
Fivestone - I agree, you are an inspiration! Changed - Oh I love it when I find other people in the health field!!! I would say GO FOR IT! I dont apply till beg. of July and wont find out if I got in until the end of July! Thanks for thinking of me :) lackadaisy - I am so having the fat feeling right now. Waaaaaaaaaa! Veela - Yay for your leg being healed!! But I have to say, your username is really making me want Velveeta cheese. Agh! So I dont know whats going on. I dont know if when I weight last monday my body was dehydrated, but my weight is 131.2 this morning. I was blaming it on my period but that never came. I wonder if its still possible to have the water weight gain from your period but never get the period? has this every happend to anyone? got the signs and weight gain but no period.. Oh well, I am NOT giving up!!! Happy Tuesday Feathers :) |

Doesnt change the outcome, though. I still flux and can't seem to get into the 130's and stay there.:( |
Are you running a lot Dianne? I've heard that can cause you to stop cycling regularly. Could you be pregnant?
Day 2- I'm fasting today. I won't say it's been easy but it's just easier for me to fast than obsess over food all day and then go to be feeling like I didn't get anything I wanted all day anyway. Had my bone scan today, no biggie at all. Got 3 new pairs of running shoes at the nike outlet yesterday and I've got a pair of free runs on to get myself motivated to actually RUN! I've always heard nothing shocks you back into shape like running. Hope that's true. Having just moved from high altitude, it's much easier to run down here... so they say. We'll see. DH is home today so I can go by myself. Going to join the Y today too. My Aunt needs a work out buddy and thank goodness for that because I do too. And they have childcare! |
haah Changed, that was the big dilemma yesterday! I was almost certain I was pregnant. So I made a gyno appointment yesterday and I am NOT prego! Shew! I think its becuase I have been running consistently for 2 weeks now (5 days a week). Even though the scale isnt complying with my needs, I have a lil NSV. When the gyno was listening to my heart rate, he said "wow, you must be in great shape, your pulse rate is very slow". That was nice to hear. So later at the pharmacy I did one of those blood pressure machines and it said my pulse rate was 54! Thats at 6pm and after coffee earlier in the day. Yay for running making me healthy!!
If I could only get my eating under control, I could have the body I want within months. Damn it is SO hard! Changed - how many days are you fasting for? |
I am gearing up for a big, crazy cardio workout tonight, feathers. I'm doing a workout I hate and fear and dread, but I want to see if I can do it (I dread it because it's really high intensity). So let's see if I can get through an hour of intense cardio without feeling like I'm going to pass out! ;D
