Ive noticed that everytime I start to eat lower calorie my body gets really tired. I started this new lifestyle of eating about 1300 calories on Monday and since then I have been so tired. Very heavy eyes in the morning, lower energy throughout the day, just exhausted. Is this normal? Does that mean 1300 calories is too low for my body or its just trying to adjust?
I ask because I did 5 weeks on low carb, which did wonders for my skin and joints, I lost 12lbs, my mood improved too: but I was tired the whole time; even walking up a slight incline, my legs felt like I'd done 10 minutes on the cross-trainer. I was eating around 1400 calories.
For the last 2 weeks I've been eating 1300 but with more carbs (100g) and the tiredness has gone.
Just wondered.
Edited to add: I've lost 5lbs in the 2 weeks of lower cal but higher carb.
I too have done low carb and the tiredness is not near as bad as when I did that. I am eating plenty of carbs now BUt it is the same type of tiredness; just not the same extreme. I am sure my body is just adjusting
It could be a normal adjustment or could be that you need more cals...
Personally on low carb I was tired only the first 3 weeks and then I adjusted, now I feel awesome and some days I only have about 20g of carbs... for me it's the protein and good fats, when I adjust those two nutrients I feel great... I average about 1500 cals/day...
I think low carb is great! I have seen it really change some lives and many of my friends health conditions. I tried it and it is just not realistic for me to do. I know I could never live a lifestyle of really low carb. So I have decided to just eat healthier, lower calorie, and naturally eating that way will lower my carbs tremendously!
Chelsey, hope you're feeling better today! I noticed a couple of months ago, when I lowered my daily calorie intake, that I was tired for a few days until I adjusted to the new regime. I wondered, during that time, if I was getting a cold or the flu, or something, and decided to take more rests during the day, drink more water, and just be good to myself. Perhaps it was some detoxification, too.
Don't know if your situation was similar.
Your plan sounds great!

Our situations do sound similar! I think it is a mixture of the big calorie deficit and the stress of making sure I am eating right and exercising. I really stress every day about it but I know I will get the hang of it and the stress will eventually get lower!
