Hi Melissa, my name is Melissa too! We also have very similar stats, how funny! Way to go on getting to be a featherweight, oh and I saw your little black dress pics and you are looking fantastic!

You mentioned you have 6 lbs to go till your origional goal, are you thinking about lowering it?

Thank you Melissa!! Great name by the way

Yeah I have been thinking lately that it would be nice to see those 140's again~ I haven't been that light since high school...But my main focus is to get to 155 and I will see how I feel there. I see you too are aiming at 155. How long have you been at it? Do you have any progress pics?

Wow, you really look great. I'm finally down just over 150 and still feel frumpy. 150 has always kind of been my lifetime, stay at that weight, goal, but I really think I would like to see 139.

I was thinking about the progress picture thing the other day. I deleted ALL old pictures of me... I know my sisters have some on thier computers so I'm going to steal one or two "before" pictures from them. I have a few current ones and will take some awesome ones when I'm at goal.

I was 190 about a year ago, got to 180 within a few months and stalled for a while. I got motivated again and got to 170 within another few months and maintained for a while. My origional goal was 165 but I'm training for a mini triathalon and a 10K mud run so want to drop some more fat. I'm really going for it this time though and hope to hit 155 by mid March, much easier said than done I know!

Do you count calories or what? How often do you work out?

Same thing with me. I was 195 1 year ago (205 was my highest 1 year and 1/2 ago) Within a few months I dropped 20lbs and then stalled BAD! Then all of a sudden I started dropping again until I hit 163 and it seems it takes 2 weeks to drop 1lb now but this morning I was 161. But like I said I am trying to shock my system now by eating more veggies and fruits. I am a calorie counter. I try to keep it at an average of 1200, sometimes higher usually not lower than that but somedays I just don't feel like eating that much LOL. I eat 5/6 small meals daily and I workout 4-6 times a week. I am trying to mix up my workouts recently.

Are you a counter? How often do you work out?

Yup I count calories too, I eat a little more than you a day though. I usually stay between 1400-1600 because I work out a ton, I burn about 700-800 calories working out a day usually 6-7 days a week. My favorites are spin, running, yoga and stairs. It's so frustrating how much slower the weight comes off when there are less to lose, huh?

Yeah I am actually trying to eat more lately. I don't know why but the more I work out the less I want to eat and it is important to eat more when your working out URGH! It's funny because I can tell when I am not eating enough because I will tired for no reason.

I want to try spinning. It looks like fun, and my joints are starting to give out on me here and there from all of the running so I need to find an alternative. I really like Tae Bo~ It is alot of fun!

And it is SUPER frustrating when the weight comes off so slow. But I am always telling myself to keep doing it and hoping for another lose until I finally get it down to where I want to be. Over the past year it keeps going down by doing what I am doing so I try and focus that at least it is going in the right direction. In April I am planning a trip to Vegas so I am hoping to be one hot mama by then at least so I still have some time. When do you want to reach your goal by? Did you set a date?

I'm not as hungry when I work out either, iIthink making sure I eat enough was one of the harder parts. In high school I would eat VERY little and was hungry all the time (I was skinny though) and so I have this idea in my head that that is necessary to lose weight... so not true. I'm getting the hang of this healthy eating thing and it definitely feels and works much better!

I would totally recommend giving a spin class a try to see if you like it. I was running a lot too and wanted to mix it up and wondered into a spin class and have been going a few times a week since.

Vegas sounds like a ton of fun! All those pretty dressas and shoes you get to wear...haha! I haven't been in a long time but hope to get there sometime this year.

I agree with you on the slowly losing the weight is better than stalling, at least I'm still going in the right direction. I was actaully 165 this morning but don't get to count it till tomorrow (I officially weigh on Wednesdays and Saturdays). I hope to be 155 by mid March but I would be happy if I did it by April.

I was the exact same way in high school. I was like 140-145. Tiny at my height. But back in those days we were allowed to eat whatever we wanted because nothing stuck to us LOL! But I agree with the healthy eating thing catching on. I actually prefer to eat this way. It is much cleaner and I feel so much better. I think the hardest part is eating breakfast for me, that is just something I never did and forcing myself to eat when I am not hungry in the morning is the worst, I feel like gagging.

I would love to try it. I may fail miserably at first but I like a challenge! I would love it if I could get one of my girlfriends to come with. Now that would be fun!

Yeah I am super excited about shaking my stuff down the strip. I need to go and purchase a few dresses for the excursion! Also a itsy bitsy bikini, so it is important for me to meet my goal by then.

Yeah stalling is awful. But we have all been through it by now. It's a matter of just telling yourself "it will come off". I figure it took me 2 years to get big so taking 1 year to get rid of it really isn't all that bad. Besides Vegas I am aiming at April because it is my birthday as well as me and BF's 4 year anniversary so I want to look FAB for it.

You know what sucks though...everyone now, with the exception of my bestfriends and BF are like "WHAT?!?! you want to lose more weight? Be careful...blah blah blah~" Do you get that now that you are so close?

The itsy bitsy bikini is my goal too (hence my screen name thing haha)! I've always lived by the beach and been in swimsuits and I've always been ok wearing one but this summer I want to feel/look HOTT wearing one, know what I mean?

I do get the odd comments from friends and family about losing weight. When I was bigger my Mom knew I was uncomfortable and would encourage me to eat better/workout and now she like "What 10 more pounds? TYou don't have 10 pounds to lose!" Lately she has been giving me cookies, brownies, pizza, etc.... it goes strait to the trash. I've never been smaller than her (she's always been thin) and I think she is getting a little self conscious about it. A few of my friends are like yours giving the waring advice about not taking it too far. That's when I pull out the "I'm training for a 10K and triathalon" card.

The last little bit is totally my personal/superficial satisfaction thing where before I was doing it for health and happiness.

Would you be interesed in emailing for accountability? I think it would give us both a kick in the butt to keep it up.

I would love emailing for accountability. I like to stay on track! I actually just started Jillians 30DS this morning, haha! I am already sore and its only 11:43AM! So how does this work? LOL

Thats a good idea about using the training card. I think I will use that! I want to do a half marathon in September so I am going to say that. Not to mention I do the Corporate Challenge in June and The Race for the Cure in April or May. That should get people off my back!

Hey!! Can I join in here!? I'm 5'8" and 154 and my goal is 140-ish. I'd love to be 135 like in HS, but as with you girls, I didn't have to TRY to be skinny back then, I ate whatever I wanted!

mel: I think you will LOVE 30DS!! It's fantastic for getting results fast!! I was amazed! I have 2 kids and the belly area is my trouble zone but it flattened out noticeably by day 20! Then I was dumb and blew it majorly over the holidays so I'm back to flabby belly, but my arms are still toned from all the push ups! I also have a late April goal (Britney Spears concert with a gf who's 5'4" and 112) I want to be 140. I figure 14lbs in 11 weeks is healthy do do-able.

I LOVE your LBD pics!! You look beautiful and HOT!!

I also use a bikini as my motivation. I am addicted to food so I will literally shut the panty/fridge door and say "I dont need it and I'd rather look good in a bikini!" I already have my bikini picked out too! It's from Cynababy (all handmade biknis you can customize). I don't know if I can post the site so just google the brand name. I'm getting the bikni called "Sailor's Dream" with the pale pink. I already told hubby "When I get to goal weight, I'm getting a new bikini!" He had no objection!!

I'm breastfeeding DS so I'm doing 1900-2000 calories and will up that when I'm maintaining. Also, I want to eat a higher amount so that my body doesn't adjust to a super low amount of calories. I've heard that can make it harder to lose weight later in life.

I was working out 6-7 days a week but I got sick and then DS got sick and literally needed to be held ALL the time! Today he's better so I'm doing 30DS level 2 tonight!! Yay!!

Anyway, I'm so glad I found this site and this thread!!
