Planning & Chat for Jan. 12- Jan. 18
Two weeks into the new year and how's everyone doing? Are the new year's resolutions being kept? New diet and exercise progrrams showing results?
Let's have a great week everyone! Dagmar :cheer2: |
My weight's up
I'm not surprised that my weight's up. I had a number of binges :o last week and haven't been monitoring things closely enough. Post holiday let down, new year/same old etc. :( left me kinda depressed and I ate to console myself.
Now I have bitter weather to contend with and am still dogsitting until Wed. I'll get seriously back on track this coming weekend but I'm going to try to maintain or at least lose the binge bloat during the week. Have a great week all! Dagmar :dizzy: |
No binges here, but I'm only down 1 pound since last Monday. I'm not complaining, but had I made better choices (read: less wine) I would be down 3 or 4 pounds. Goal this week? No wine until Friday. DS is going out of town for a couple days with his robotics class so DH and I are going out Friday night to a karaoke bar/restaurant with my in-laws. I don't particularly like karaoke, but they hang out there weekly and invited us along. Saturday we'll go golfing.

I'm haven't finished making my resolutions ;)
Going OK, who knows on the weight front, as I'm pre-TOM. But I'm enjoying some unseasonably warm January weather :) |
Hi, everyone.
I had a really good week last week, so it's encouraging me to stick with it. I'm down another half pound (I'm a space and like to get on the scale every day. It keeps me honest with myself) to make a full loss of 4.5 so far. I did at least a half hour on the treadmill every day last walk. mainly walking, but i steadily built the spead up. I tried adding a little jogging in, but I'm still pretty out of shape, so I'll have to stick with it. No visible effects from the the exercise yet, but I feel like I have so much more energy. I hope that'll keep me motivated when it gets tougher. |
Oooooh eeee am I sore today.
Allison you can do it (re the red wine). Yesterday was my first day without and already I am down a pound. I am pretty sure it keeps me dehydrated. I am not ready to quit all out but I am taking a break til weight has become more comfotable (along with clothes) and then I think I will stick to 1 or 2 days a week instead of the glass (or 2) a night. Gotta love the fact that New Years is a full 6 months from June. Lets go bathing suits! |
hey guys! I'm pretty new on here and just started trying to lose 20 lbs. hope you all are having a good Monday! Even though Mondays kinda suck sometimes its always good to have a fresh start to a new week.
My goal for today is to drink 8 large glasses of water. So far I'm 2/8! |
I'm doing good on the resolution to cut restaurant budget by 40%, unfortunately dh isnt.
I'm having a tough day. My brand new treadmill which took a lot of grunting and groaning to get in to the house and set up doesnt work, my toilet is clogged beyond my plunging and snaking prowess (and I am GOOD at plunging, I think if dh had let me have a whack at it instead of being manly, we'd be ok, but now my technique wont work.) I gotta get cracking on getting organized for the week! Weight? I'm just not going to think about it! |
So far it hasn't been a good day... DANG!!!
I will do better for supper...:frypan: |
....oh this day is just getting better. While I was folding laundry ds just poured a 1/2 bottle of honey all over himself and then ran around the house.

I am not a water drinker. I never was never have been. Its hard for me to drink it because well I dont like it haha. Basically I lived on coke and coffee forever. I slowly am trying to get in the habit of drinking more water though. I still drink coffee but I have cut out soda. I substitute it with sparking water now. I think about everyday if I could have just laid off all that soda how many lbs lighter I probably would be. *sigh* |
some days you just need something sweet to drink. I like the water at home, but when I'm up at school, it just tastes off (yay for jersey water). I drink a lot of diet soda at school, which i'm trying to cut way back on. What I found is a really nice substitute is green tea with just a bit of honey. it has some calories, but it really seems to hit the spot for me.
|
LOL @ Jersey Water!
I drink alot of Sparkingwater from shop and stop or Walmart.I love the black cherry or cranberry flavors. I mean I know splenda isnt good for you, but I would rather drink something with 0 cals then a liter of coke:) |

Hey girls, I'm back on here..put on some weight before and during my trip to India in December. It's not any resolution type of stuff...just know where my body felt most comfortable and want to get there again. Happy Tuesday. |
Welcome back Lekhika
So far today food is good (it's 8am) .... Off to work soon... :coffee: |

I had a TERRIBLE Diet Coke problem, got off it this summer, but now I'm drinking it a lot again. I hate that. For me, it's really more a symptom of getting off track than a cause, but it all becomes circular. :(
|
Count me in as a Diet Pepsi fan, however I have not had any for over a year or more. I've pretty much given up on all sodas--diet or otherwise. I drink more than my fair share of water and will have a sparkling water once in a while (like San Pelligrino).
|
Today I went shopping on my lunch break. I like to buy stuff and invision how its going to look on me when I lose 13 more lbs:) Since I quit my job I probably could have done without the 55.00 bra at victoria secret, but, I just like to think of it as my reward for doing well hehe.
|
Welcome back Lekhika! You went to India? I bet the food was spectacular!

does any one else lose their appetite after a super busy stressful work day?

I usually eat to try to relieve stress and also to combat the major caffeine crash that comes late in the afternoon. I've changed the pattern by eating protein now, rather than the carbs I used to cram into my mouth. The next step is to reduce the caffeine. That will start in after daylight savings time "springs" forward and I'm not waking up at 4 a.m. evey morning.
Right now, without the caffeine, I'm ready to fall asleep at 8 p.m. Dagmar |
Rember airplane? "this is a terrible time for me to quit smoking"
Well I am having that sort of week. I am a teacher and I just found out I am laid off in 2 weeks! Music teachers get laid off ALL the time but February? Anyhow I am doing ok considering but yesterday was a weird day and I went ahead and had a couple of glasses of wine in spite of the plan to hold off til 145. Today I am back on track and I didn't let food or excercise slip so alls well. Ironically, I am glad I started working out a few days ago because I feel much more balanced. It gives me something productive to do and I suppose I will have more time on my hands soon. In the mean time I am a bit whacked out though. I hear you about caffiene dagmar. I too get hungry mid afternoon and I apply the same high protien strategy most of the time and it works well. Occasionally I have to have something sweet and so I do fruit and unsweetened lowfat yoghurt which I seem to like almost better than sugary foods (amazingly enough). Re the soft drinks, they lost their appeal to me years ago. I have a thing for tea and coffee though. I do coffee without sugar (a little milk) and tea I usually sweeten with I drop of mapley syrup and I only have that now and then mostly I just drink water. |
Hiker~I'm so sorry about you being laid off. I didn't know you were a music teacher. Public school, I assume? What grades? I ask because my DD is in college pursuing a degree in music education (and computer science--double major). What instruments do you play/teach?
|
Thanks Allison. I am currently teaching 5-8 band I have worked at the high school level but I have small children and the time commitment was ridiculous though I found the job to be much more secure (anything that effects high school football is usually last on the chopping block as it were).
But good news the light at the end of the tunnel I stepped on the scale and I am down a whopping 2 lbs. Probably mostly water weight but I am going to take it. I needed a boost today. Yay for that. Where does your daughter study? |
I lost my taste for diet drinks a while back too. I do drink coffee with sweetner and cream, I refuse to leave the cream go, but only 2/day and sometimes a decaf in the evening...
|
Coffee? I drink mine with a heaping spoonful of Benefiber!! Gotta laugh at that!
|
I go back and forth on the diet soda. Its the only place I allow artificial sweeteners. Right now I am kind of on. I do better with weight loss when I dont.
Coffee I do with light vanilla soymilk...just sweet and creamy enough and low in cals enough to have as much of it as I feel like (decaf). It's a decent source of calcium for me too. |
work really seems to derail the best laid plans. what do you guys usually do for good snacking options through out the day?
i was having a cup of grapes as a snack for a while, but i ate them all and haven't had a chance to run to the store. |
For snacks, I'll have organic baby carrots and hummus (100 cals), a couple of wasa crackers with a wedge of Laughing Cow cheese (110 cals), or an apple. If I need something sweet, there are 110 cal chocolate Pria bars I get from Whole Foods. All very satisfying.
|
I drink my coffee with skim and I use sugar fee vanilla syrup from target. It tastes great!
For snacks, I like to eat broccoli and carrots w a 100 cal dip pack. I also LOVE and I mean LOVE almonds. If I need a sugar snack ill eat fruit or a sugar free pudding I weighed myself today, although I only do it on sundays, and I lost another lb since. I feel like I must be doing something right.... |
Hey all,
First post to a chat thread. Yesterday I put in 30 minutes on the elliptical for the second day this week (I did yoga on tuesday instead, though I might start doing both). I'm hoping to get some in this evening, too. Last week I did two days, so at the bare minimum I want to do three days, but I'm shooting for 4. My goal is to do five days a week religiously. Do you think going from nil to 5 days a week so quickly is a bad idea? (this week is the second week of working out, so it'll be 3 weeks) Or is this really not that fast? For snacks I've eaten carrots with dressing (indulgence, I know, too many calories - and I can't stand artificial sweeteners) and apples with all natural peanut butter. I think I might get some applesauce cups. I have a mini-fridge in my office at work, but I have a big problem with leaving things in there too long. I've left apples in my fridge for multiple weeks until I discovered them and had to throw them away. What a waste! |

So anyway, my 6 days a week is paying off!! According to the readout on my treadmill, I'm burning about 400 calories each morning (45 minutes and a pretty fast pace of 4.2 mph on hill climbs or 4.0-4.5 cross train circuit) and I'm keeping my calories at about 1200 (with a goal of 1200-1400). So far this month? 3 pounds lost. I sure have a long way to go, though. |
