Workout/Weigh-in - February

:woohoo: new month !!! And my month is starting really well lost 7lbs in January from 159 to 152...

Workouts have been good and so has the food....:carrot:

:coach: NEXT !!

srmb60 02-01-2008 10:20 AM

Good morning!

I'm having a wonderful morning off. I'm excited about the start of a new month. Ilene's excitement is contagious too.

I've started a ticker for cardio. Dh and I are researching local gyms. It's looking good for February!

BlueToBlue 02-01-2008 08:36 PM

I'm excited about February, too, because I am finally going to be able to try to add running back into my exercise routine. :running: If all goes well, by the end of February I'll be running outside again on Sundays (6 miles, if things go really well) and running intervals during the week. :woops: I am sure the lack of running is part of what is making it so hard for me to lose my holiday weight.

My first run will be this Sunday. My sad little goal is to run 1 mile at a 6 mph pace on the treadmill. I'm sure I can do it cardio-wise, the only question is whether or not my knee will hold out.

If I get back to running intervals, I'll be able to do that instead of the spinning class on Tuesdays with the really annoying instructor who always comments (sometimes to the whole class) about how much I am sweating!

Oh my, don't go at it so fast for the first time, please :^: you're not doing your knees any favour...You should start with the cto5k by running 1 minute and walking 1 minute... You'll advance faster than most beginners and in no time you'll be back to what you were before...

OMG can I :frypan: her in the head ... How rude is that?

srmb60 02-02-2008 08:55 AM

Aren't you supposed to sweat?

Yesterday I got in a nice bit of walking. It was lovely last night. There was enough snow so that my hamstrings felt like it. And fluffy nice stuff was falling straight down ... beautiful!
And I did some light weights for upper body.

walking2lose 02-02-2008 09:25 AM

Hi girls!

Barb - geesh! How rude of the instructor. Doesn't she know that the more you sweat while working out, the more fit it means you are? When I coached field hockey, my girls would look like they had taken a dip in the pool after practice. I explained to them that sweating is the only way the body has to to cool itself, and if you are a heavy sweater, it means your body is cooling itself very effectively, hence you can work out harder and longer and you are fitter. Speaking of sweat, my husband and I teach high school, and he found a note on the floor in his room last week that opened, "Dear Sweaty..." Oh, how we all laughed at that!

Susan - I just read back and saw your post from a few days ago. I'm so glad you are back on track! Last year from Jan - March or so I lost about 8-9 lbs. In the fall and through the holidays I proceeded to gain every dang one of those pounds back! So, like others said, I feel your pain, and yes, I do think this will be a lifelong challenge. Some of us are probably more prone to falling off that horse from time to time (letting go, indulging, becoming complacent, becoming lazy), but we just have to dust off and jump back on the horse and get back in the race. It seems that several of us (you, me, Allison, Ilene, etc.) are in the process of doing that now. Thank goodness we have each other to go to for support. Unfortunately, our bodies do not naturally want to stay at our goal weight; rather we have to continue the healthy eating and lifestyle to stay there. We can do it!

Having said that, my weigh in yesterday said that I have not lost or gained this week. Considering this week is TOM, it's understandable, but I want to get back to the scale heading downward. I plan to tighten up my calories this week and continue to exercise. I want results next weigh in!!

Have a healthy weekend, girls!

Tamsie 02-02-2008 11:48 AM

No change in weight for me this week... maybe next week :)

No workouts to speak of either. Other than walking my dogs. I think my lack of motivation to move is because I know that in 2 weeks, when I start stims for my IVF, I'll be restricted from exercise.... so I'm kinda like eh, why bother? :p

Scenestealer 02-02-2008 02:09 PM

I did a quick 5 mile run at an 8:40 pace, which was good. I have a 4 mile race tomorrow, and I'd really like to drop down to an 8:30 pace for that - we'll see.

3fcuser1058250 02-02-2008 03:48 PM

Laura :crossed: good luck in your race... I hope you make your PB pace...

Just back from a leg workout ... 45 mins...

ennay 02-02-2008 05:05 PM

Hi...I am back to the featherweights forum...I had moved to maintainers "temporarily" when my mileage got too high last summer and I never came back in october when I was supposed to. I also didnt maintain too well.

Lets see....January was pretty much a wash

February I will take today as my starting weight..132.4

Ran 7.33 today.

walking2lose 02-02-2008 09:47 PM

Welcome back, Ennay! I know you are welcome on the maintainers thread anytime, but we'll enjoy chatting with you here too. Maybe it will be a little more motivating for you to post here while you are trying to lose the last 5 lbs to get to goal. 5 lbs. seems like a hundred to me, so I know I'm in the right place... I will be psyched to hit 140 and then I'll start heading toward 135.

ennay 02-02-2008 10:01 PM

Oh no, its more than 5 lbs to goal. Its 5 lbs to where I was when I got derailed. Then another 5-7 to goal!

3fcuser1058250 02-02-2008 10:36 PM

Hey  ennay :D .... SOOO nice to see you here

BlueToBlue 02-03-2008 04:25 AM

The spinning instructor isn't criticizing me for sweating. I think it's just a really misguided attempt at trying to be friendly. She annoys me in other ways as well. I keep hoping they'll replace her since the spin instructors seem to come and go quite a bit; there are other instructors that I like better but unfortunately their classes are at times that don't work for me.

Ilene, I was running 6 miles outdoors at a pace slightly faster than 6 mph and I was up to 9 mph on my intervals on the treadmill, so running 1 mile at 6 mph on the treadmill seems like a piece of cake. I wasn't even planning to count it as exercise. Now you've got me second guessing myself. I never did the C25K program, so I don't really know what's involved in it. I guess I'll just see how I feel tomorrow.

ennay 02-03-2008 03:13 PM

13.2 miles today!

back up to 133 but its not an official weigh in;)

srmb60 02-04-2008 09:25 AM

I've got no good explanation for 140 lbs this morning. But I feel ghastly! drowsy, sluggish. After the dentist I may take a nap!
But I'll walk to the dentist ;)

ennay 02-04-2008 02:02 PM

good thing today isnt an official weigh in day either :o

Weights this morning, yoga tonight.

BlueToBlue 02-04-2008 02:51 PM

I managed 1 mile at a 6 mph pace on the treadmill on Sunday and my knee held up just fine. Now I just have to figure out what the next step is. My plan is to get up to 2 miles on the treadmill before I try running outside again. I'm not sure how fast I should try to work up to the two miles.

So, for now my exercise plan is the same as it's been for the last two weeks. Working out with my trainer on M, W, F, spinning (with the annoying instructor) on Tu, circuit training class on Th. I think I'm going to give up swimming outdoors on Saturday until the weather warms up a bit or I'm completely over this cold that I have. So I guess ellpitcal/running on Saturday AND Sunday. I may try some running on Tu or Th too.

Scenestealer 02-04-2008 04:06 PM

Today was a horrid weigh-in day for me - up a pound :( I'd like to pretend that it's fluid retention from my race yesterday, but it's really more likely to be the result of my binge eating on Friday night. Grr. I am going to be extra good this week to get it down.

walking2lose 02-04-2008 07:50 PM

1 hour brisk walk after work with my work out bud. It doesn't sound like much, but it feels good to me to be doing something, even if just walking. We have nice warm weather here in Virginia this week - tomorrow is supposed to be an unbelievable 70 degrees! Will have to get outside again and walk/run.

3fcuser1058250 02-04-2008 09:07 PM

1 hour chest and bicep workout :strong:

Honestly, Its more likely to be the result of your race....

And up a pound is a horrid weigh in day for you? Really? Wow. Lets see the last 4 days my weight was 132.4, 133, 134.4, 132.4

ANyway, I was going to say I never did make it to yoga yesterday, ran today. Not a great food day today though...just HUNGRY all dang day.

Scenestealer 02-06-2008 06:39 AM

Ennay, I think it's a legitimate pound gain - I had one big pig-out on Friday, and I weigh myself every day (though only really count it once - every day is just to see trends and know if it's really off on weigh-in day) and the trend was upwards. I've been traveling on business since so I haven't been able to weigh myself on my own scale and check, but Friday morning hopefully I'll see what's going on.

3fcuser1058250 02-06-2008 10:47 PM

40 mins on bike... Plus another 20 mins on the bike, while hair dye was setting  ... I was bored  ....

srmb60 02-08-2008 06:05 AM

I shovelled snow yesterday. I got home at 3:30 and DH and DS#2 had done one half (enough to get their vehicles out) and the other half was still the knee deep stuff I had to get out of. I cleaned that out, moved my car to MY spot ;) and cleaned it all up.

I got finished shortly before five and a neighbour with a snowblower showed up about 15 minutes later

But that's OK. He moved my heap further back into the yard -and- today I weigh 137.5!

frog0726 02-08-2008 09:55 AM

I did 40 minutes of Tae Bo this morning. I'll be waitressing for 5 1/2 hours tonight (plus lifting all those chairs on top of tables and taking them down) so that's gotta account for something, too :)

Tamsie 02-08-2008 10:00 AM

Yeah, I'm still to lazy to workout other than walking my dogs.

Official weigh-in is tomorrow, but as of today I'm down a pound from last week's weigh-in.

ennay 02-08-2008 08:26 PM

rest day today...still at 132.4 today, if I had weighed in yesterday I would have been able to move that dang ticker I know. Oh well :)

Scenestealer 02-09-2008 10:03 PM

I walked 5 miles today to go register and get my t-shirt and bib for the half-marathon I'm doing tomorrow. I pigged out yesterday, but it was better than most of my pigouts are, and I ate great all week, so I'm feeling pretty good. Tomorrow and Monday are my weigh-in days, so we'll see how I do!

ennay 02-09-2008 10:49 PM

10.3 miles today...I tried to do yoga but ds was having none of it!

walking2lose 02-10-2008 11:27 AM

Weight's down a bit - phew! I have a flu-like virus and feel pretty cruddy. I hate getting sick, and this has been a bad year for me. I must work on boosting my immune system. Needless to say, I have not exercised since Wed. I hope to be feeling better and exercising again tomorrow.

I hope everyone has had a great weekend.

Scenestealer 02-10-2008 11:50 AM

13.1 mile race today - whoo hoo! :) It was a tough one - winds were at 20-30 MPH, and from miles 7-10 we were running directly into the wind.

ennay 02-10-2008 12:01 PM

7.1 miles today

frog0726 02-12-2008 08:43 AM

I've lost 2.5 lbs in 1 1/2 weeks!

ennay 02-12-2008 11:03 AM

4.3 today. Scale isnt budging and I have been tracking religiously....sigh. I think my metabolism is not what it was last summer. I am hoping it is just winter. I think in summer even if my "exercise" level is the same, my activity level is higher. Not so much urge to come home from a cold run and bundle back under the blankets.

Oh well...at least I hopefully am finally maintaining - always good to know what maintenance level is. And I have been higher than I planned on eating, but low enough that I thought I would still be losing a bit. a smidge.

Or maybe I am just phantom pms'ing.

midearthseeker 02-12-2008 05:42 PM

My weight's holding steady at 143. I guess that's good, but I've got 10 weeks left to lose 13 pounds, so one of these weeks I need to lose more than a pound.

3fcuser1058250 02-12-2008 06:13 PM

I am having a very difficult time this month... I really fell off the wagon this weekend and I haven't gotten back on it fully yet... I'm really, really working on that... Exercise isn't stellar either :tantrum:

3fcuser1058250 02-12-2008 06:24 PM

:cp: frog0726 I just noticed your weight loss :bravo:

frog0726 02-12-2008 09:00 PM

Thank you :D And good luck to you getting back on the exercise wagon. It can be hard to climb back on after you fall off.

srmb60 02-12-2008 11:52 PM

I did 30 minutes of old fashioned mp3 exercise today :)
